Hi Netduma's , I noticed since I switched providers that provides fibre my latency is higher while using R2 router which I find odd.

Console plugged into internet box, game search for at the lobby screen latency reads 10 or 11. While in a game the latency is between 12 - 14 without using Netduma R2.

But when console is plugged into Netduma and then connected to internet box, latency is twice amount 35+ why is this?

I have adjusted QOS, played around Geo settings. I can't get it any lower, what could be the cause of this?

The R2 must target dedicated servers in Europe

because if you are in Senegal, apart from a peer server I do not see how you can have 14 ms of ping on this game?

@Seye I would suggest factory resetting the R2 since you've got the new connection. It's a good idea when you get a new line installed to set the R2 up fresh with it, it can then run it's benchmarks and tests for you.

If that still hasn't helped, can you let us know where Geo-filter is suggesting that you're getting connected to?

@Fuzy Well....I do.. which I found odd I'm in London without Netduma I get low latency, it just baffles me it's more on Netduma.

Yeah I did do a factory reset, did the usual setup.

I used default Geo setting, ping 0 radius 2000. I have used polygon feature it's still the same.

Mostly France and Germany I get connected to.

Ok last news you were talking about Senegal my fault .... There is a server near you which would explain the low latency! You should target it to see if it matches!

I hadn't seen before answering.. what does it look like without the geofilter? (disabled)

If you mean reduce radius circle on the server, i have most days it domes up as a peer other times a server?

@Netduma Liam not like am complaining, but just confused as too why.

Have re-installed latest firmware, factory reset after setting up.

Is there a test I could run?

OK that's interesting, what ping do you see in Geo-filter and how does that compare to what you see in-game? Are ALL devices connected to the R2? Is your new modem a router/modem combo and if so have you put the R2 in the DMZ?

All devices are connected to R2

I don't know what you mean by modem router /modem combo. I have fiber cable connected to BT hub (ISP internet box) then R2 connected to it.

I have the R2 set to DMZ mode on the BT smarthub that's how I can only get open nat type on R2 over the years

Cool, thanks for letting me know.

Do you know if you need to use PPPoE or DHCP identifiers with your new connection?

I'm not that knowledgeable when it comes to this technical words.

Could you explain or where I can check for this?

If they're not terms you've came across before, it's likely you're not using them, don't worry. You should be able to find this on your BT Hub's admin interface, though as I say if it's not something you've needed to set up before I wouldn't think you're using it.

Can you run a Connection Benchmark test and send over a screenshot of the results?

Are ALL devices connected to the R2 or do you have some still connected to the BT hub?

Reduce your radius to just cover the UK server, is your ping lower then?

I have disabled wifi on BT smarthub, so nothing can connect to it. All devices are connected to R2, I have reduced radius to cover just UK and used polygon feature to make a square around UK server location.

I did a restart I seem to be having similar ping now, on the geo filter I'm not sure if am connected to dedicated server or peer cause they both seem to be on the same spot. I tried denying the peer but still comes up.

Great news! Don't deny the peer, that is your game server, it is a server based game so any peers you see on the map when playing are likely to be the servers. You can also tell by the domain name, choopa is a dedicated server.

Is this BTs business router version as their home hubs don’t offer DMZ?

on the home hub they broadcast free WiFi, worth checking that’s disabled but I believe it still broadcasts but is hidden.

After about 5 games I'm getting dedicated servers more, ping is 8 - 10 ping in game 😀

Are you talking about the MW2 game in multiplayer?

I hadn't tried to play on this game for a while, a priori they improved the rendering of latency at the level of the game, or just a tip...

This is still good news for netduma because it is getting closer to the information given on dumaOS (auto ping)

On the server closest to me, I ping at 9ms on the geofiltre netduma auto ping and I ping on the game at 20ms in part...

This is not the case on "old" CODs +20ms ping in general compared to auto ping (on the latency given by the game on the server).

I understand the screenshot better!

A real nuisance, this hotspot on consumer ISP routers!

@Seye I don't know if the fiber module is built into your BT smarthub, but it might be worth bypassing it !

I believe its BT for home use, I'm abit new to this how do I check if its broadcasting? Thisis what I can see on the admin login
