Quick question about ping/host in AW!

This is only my personal opinion.

I dont think you can notice 2 ms spikes in game. 6 to 8 ms in game ping its more then perfect in my opinion.

I guess you have to do a bit of testing and see for your self what suit you better. Duma is gaveing you that possibility to test witch is better and go with that.

That's not spiky in terms of ping variation.

The graphical representation looks 'spiky' as the ping is so low (a spike from 6ms to 8ms is 33% so graphically it looks a lot).

But I never connect to any of the hosts in the green side, which i have set to be preferred hosts, right? The router always finds new bad hosts, which i have to update and give a bad score. As you can see in the pic, theres a lot of circles on the red side..
And theres always the same km on new hosts.. Like, ive connected to a host 1180km away many times, but its never the one ive updated before, because i give them names. The same with hosts that are 964km away. And the dedi i connect to most is also 964km away, but no update button.

I dont get it? Help, if any of you understood what im trying to say above:P

May be try lowering your 'filter by distance' this may help if you are looking to connect to players closer to you.  Also by doing this the number of players the R1 will be searching to connect you to will be lower thereby decreasing the number of bad hosts you come across.  If the players you have allowed into the green section are online and if the R1 determines that the connection is best it will try connect you to them.  I could be wrong in this but just because they are in the allowed green section does not mean it will automatically connect you to them it just means the R1 will not block them.

For a better filter distance try this. Slide the 'filter by distance' all the way to 0 and click the snap button two times and try to find games.  If you find yourself not finding games click it again until you start finding players. Once you start finding players that is like the sweet spot.  The snap button looks like this:

Couple more questions, sorry guys:P

Before i bought the netduma, i had the netgear nighthawk. Im paying for 200/20, and i got that with the nighthawk. I know, that with the netduma, i cant get 200 down yet, but in the "set bandwith", ive set it to be 200/20. I ran a test in the "internet diagnosis", with 200/20 set in the "set badnwith", and got what the picture below shows. Now, if i speedtest with the netduma, i get between 70-80 down, still 20 up, with the two bars in the "congestion control" set to 100%. Should i change the download cap in "set bandwith" to 70 or 80, or still have it like before, (200/20)?

post-2622-0-86379400-1437503147_thumb.png

And this is how my setup when playing looks like: I sat the bars to 60%, because i felt that was better than 70% when i first started using the netduma. Tell me if theres anything wrong please:) Just want to be 100% sure that im doing things right:P

For the speeds, is IPv6 disabled in LAN and WAN?

1 question what i will do i will first follow this guide

http://wiki.netduma.com/doku.php?id=setup_gt_120

Acording to this guide you should get about 120 download

And i would lave it after following this guide until the new update comes out.

Now you internet diagnostic its fantastic you cant get it better then this and also difference in you bandwith should. Not affect those resoults as you are having grate internet.

2. The sttings. Look similar to mnie. Here is how i run it

Just to add to what everyone has said already, the reason you may get hosts that are the exact distance as one you have allowed before is because the IP's can change & servers/hosts can be clustered in the same location so there may be a lot in that one particular spot.

Ensure your congestion control is on, it may be worth doing an internet diagnosis if this has suddenly happened to see if anything has changed with your line. Also try and avoid that server to see if other ones have the same issue.

Congestion control is on, have strict mode enabled, got exceptional rating on internet diagnosis, still connect to bad hosts. It shows same km as the "old" one who gave me stable 30ms ping. Now i find hosts where the ping is between 50-100, and very spiky. And how can i avoid bad dedi's, when theres no update button? Because thats what i connect to, bad dedicated servers with the same km, but way worse ping.

You can block them by giving them a low rating. Thats what i do (that and i block annoying hackers, i digress). I haven't read the whole thread but they just came out with a new cloud update. Go to misc<cloud settings< tick enable bleeding edge cloud. I hope this helps a bit, and are you on wireless? If you could play wired it will probably help.

Okay try these suggestions

  1. Set your home location, then put the distance really small, press the 'Snap' button a few times to auto expand the Geo-filter.
  2. Increase the Geo-filter to include any padlocks you may see.
  3. Disable strict mode, this will allow more games to be connected to, please note they may appear outside of your filter.
  4. Move your home until you get a different host or padlock appear (you may have to restart the game but may not) and bare in mind our anti-cheat if you connect to games and continue to try and find other hosts.
  5. Enable auto cloud and bleeding edge in settings > miscellaneous, even if you have them checked already still click apply as this will flush the cloud.
  6. Some people say putting anti-flood lower helps, you could try this.
  7. Device prioritise your console

Ok, so i still have problems, and worse than ever.

Ill give you all the info i can think of, and let you be the judge of why my gaming experience is sooooo bad as of the last month or so.

Brief info: I always connect to dedis, not my choice, the Duma switches from a regular host in the lobby to a dedi when the game is launching. I used to connect to dedis where my ping always was a stable 30ms, and that was great. Now, the last month, ive still connected to dedis, but the ping showed 50-60ms. The last two weeks, ive connected to dedis that show 100ms ping. Youll see on the pictures below what settings i use. The last couple of days, ive tried rebooting the Duma and modem several times, plus factory reset the duma and blablabla, but still no improvement.

And i never connect to any of the hosts ive allowed in the green field, which are alot of really good lobby hosts with 40ms ping and below ive connected to over the months. The Duma always connect to new hosts that i have to block because theire so bad. Youll see in the picture below, where theres a huuuge cluster on 1-5% in the blocked field.

Internet info:

I pay my ISP for 200/20, the best i can get, without fibre. Fibre is not an option where i live, Oslo, Norway. Ive tested my speed- and pingtest with the ethernet cable in my Imac. Speedtest with Chrome and pingtest with firefox, when Chromes not java supported for the packet loss.

Here are pics:

The pics are in random order.

Brief info about the pics:
Overview of Geo-filter, tried switching home location. After factory reset, there were green circles instead of red (?), connect to host outside filter when strict mode is on, some are shitty dedis i connected to last night (3-4 hours ago), some are lobbyhosts before switching to shitty dedis when game is launching, some are blocked hosts i still connect to, some are good hosts ive allowed, but never connect to.

Guess this sums up my frustration over the last 2-3 weeks. I may have forgotten some things that i cant think of now, but let me know and ill find info. These changes happened before i started rebooting and resetting router/modem, when i still had the settings from the optimal guide from netduma wiki etc.

Sorry for this looooooong post, but if this continues, ill just quit playing. Dont know if im stupid or not, but I really hope some of you good people in this community with more knowledge could help me with this problem:)

In advance,
thanks!

You have a good base ping, so you should (and it looks like most of the time you are) get low ping games.

Could you enter 100/20 into the congestion control speeds as from the speed test, it doesn't look like you actually get 200/20 which is what you've entered :) Then make sure you have it set to about 70% for both.

Could you also make sure the GeoFilter is set with just two snaps :)

I know you've probably tried all that but from the pictures above, everything looks good I think.
