No dedi server in Aus for Apex Legends?

I've tested this on PS4 and I've confirmed that something's not working right.

It's possible that it's a problem with the game and not something we can fix.

But we're going to adjust some things on our end and do another test, before the end of the day.

Okay my friend we've done a cloud update. I was able to connect to an Apex server in Sydney using the new version.

  • Press FLUSH CLOUD
  • Put Geo-Filter over Australia
  • Set ping assist to zero

That's what worked for me.

Sweeeeeet! It's 2am here but I'll test it out now haha :)

Also, do I enable Filtering and Strict mode too? :)

@Netduma Alex

Hmm so I've done what you said to do, also with filtering and strict mode on. I can find games but sometimes I still get the server timed out when rejoing the main menu after a game.

When connected to the Sydney Dedicated servers they still appear as peers whilst in game.

It's also strange that they handle our matchmaking on overseas dedicated servers as opposed to here in Aus. We wouldn't have the timing out issue if we joined a dedicated server in Aus whilst in the main menus and MM.

I really do appreciate your efforts though dude, no other router company would do the same :)

So when you say you can still get games, are these games in Sydney or are they somewhere further away? It did take me a couple of tries on the title screen to get into the lobby when I tested.

It is a bit strange that they handle the matchmaking overseas but I reckon it's because they keep all of the lobby server stuff (like player stats) all in one place. These servers are automatically whitelisted and shouldn't effect the ping at all since they're separate from the actual game servers.

In other news I actually decided to try out Apex when I got home last night to see what all the fuss was about, my team came second in the first game, it was pretty fun! I don't usually like battle royale but I did enjoy Apex.

Yeah they're in Aus with my usual 30ms ping but appear as a Peer in DumaOS, not dedicated.

I do get the occasional server that is misplaced on the West coast of America or in China somewhere, but are still 30ms Aussie servers.

It's a fun game aye haha. They took all the good parts of previous BR games and added some quality of life features that others don't have.

I suppose the miscategorisation isn't the end of the world but I will tell the devs about it.

It can be when the game puts you in a mislocated server and the router is like no no no, outside of your radius.

Plus it'd be really nice to know whether or not I'm on a dedicated or a P2P server. It says peer but I can't trust it atm.

If you get any mislocated servers could you put them in this form please? As well as the hosts which appear to be servers but show as peers.

Yo @Netduma Fraser and @Netduma Alex

Is there a form for mislabeled servers or can I use this one?  All the servers I join are labeled as Peers as apposed to the correctly labeled dedicated servers I see In Sydney when I boot up the game.

Here's a list of the dedicated servers I've seen by booting up the game numerous times, not once have I ever joined one of these in a game.

Yes in my previous post there is a link to a topic with a form you can fill out with the information, its also a lot easier as you can copy and paste the IDs and we can keep all the information together, if you could put these there that would be fantastic thanks!

I input some servers that were mislocated with that form linked above :)

Just submitted a heap of servers miscategorised as Peers instead of Dedicated. My only thought is that I'm possibly joining the dedicated servers but the dedicated servers are creating new servers as they are needed. I'm assuming that's why the pings are so similar but have different ID's. I'm wondering if they use the same sort of Hybrid dedicated servers that CoD uses. I remember when matchmaking in CoD it would ping all the players in the lobby, then filter everyone through the dedicated server and then applied the necessary lag comp needed for each player to create an even connection. But with Apex something goes wrong and DumaOS thinks I'm connecting to a Peer instead.

You would have a much better understanding of how all the networking works so I may be waaaay off here but yeah.

Actually contemplating studying something along the lines of networking and telecommunications, not sure why it interests me but it does hahaha.

Great thanks a lot, that's really helpful!

Well servers are usually clustered in the same location but will have different IDs even though they're in the same place. The peer vs dedi is very likely just our cloud that needs to be updated, almost certainly it's actually a server, if you look on the subreddit as well the devs mention the servers quite a lot with no mention of P2P. Perhaps look into doing a CCNA in Routing & Switching if you're interested, don't have to do the exam (which costs) but you should be able to find cheap training materials online for it and it's industry recognised so perhaps a good place to start.

I too am having a hell of a time reaching dedicated servers at all and my location is close to more servers than most of the world.  I’m in Cincinnati Ohio and there are plenty of servers nearby, but this game puts me on nothing but peers.  I’d think this area would be fairly accurate as far as mislocated servers at this point in the game, but maybe I’m wrong and literally every single one I get is wrong possibly?  Not sure but it’s been rough even before but worse since the update.  Any ideas or did this thread ever yield any good solutions I somehow missed out on?

They might not be mislocated per-se; it's likely they are mis-classified though. They could well be dedicated servers.

Just to let you in on this - there's no easy way to classify dedicated servers. As far as I know, our developers have manually labelled thousands of servers as dedicated - but there's still plenty that aren't classified and show up as peers. I reckon that's what's happening here.

Do the 'peers' show up in the same place every time?

@Netduma Jack They appear as dedicated servers in Sydney when you first start up the game and all the servers are pinged, BUT when in games they appear as peers. I've been slowly adding them to your mislocated server list via the form.  I think I've almost got all the in game servers now because I'm starting to join ones I've already saved. I've got more saved that are mislocated and misclassified but I haven't added them yet, will do it tonight.

Some yes some no, seems to want to force me into Texas servers more times than not and using geo I just end up getting errors or being kicked.  Virginia has 17 or 18 ping, St. Louis is just above that and others are in the twenty’s, but those are never what I’m put onto.  I too see the locations of the servers when I log in, but when matchmaking they’re gone and everything’s peer and scattered.  I honestly can’t even remember the last time I was on a labeled dedicated server, I assumed it was just labeled that way like you say until I keep seeing dedicated on every screen shot I come across on here and still have yet to see one on my map at all.  Servers have been pretty much unplayable on PS4 for me since the updates and congestion control seems to be the only useable feature for apex at least. My connections great on my end so I guess I’m pretty much SOL.

They're all in Sydney but some are misplaced in the US and China, and of them all are wrongly classified as Peers. You're definitely connecting to the dedicated servers in game but they must have some sort sub servers that we connect to when playing and they're wrongly classified as peers on Duma's end.  During the menu screen I'm always connected to a dedicated server overseas, must just be how Respawn handle the matchmaking and stat tracking etc. I reckon once more data has been collected from the Duma team they'll manually go through and reclassify/relocate the servers we are connecting to.

I have my Geo Filter located over Aus/NZ in Spectating Mode, Strict Mode On and Ping Assist set to 33ms. I noticed one of the dedicated servers is kinda unstable with a ping of 37ms hence the Ping Assist. I find this nets the best results atm as it doesn't block you from connecting to the necessary servers overseas whilst in the menu screen. Judging by your ping to the Sydney servers I'd guess your in either QLD, VIC or NSW? If I were you I'd check every time you join a match to see if you can find what your ping is on the unstable server I spoke about and set your Ping Assist accordingly to block them. I've also blocked them if I join said server.

You probably already are, but make sure that you're restarting the game after changing settings in the geo-filter. The game pings all available servers on the title screen, so perhaps you need to wait for it to ping all of those servers (network options pops up) and then go into the lobby. Perhaps that blocks it from even attempting to connect to a server it couldn't ping? Probably not though, Apex is really annoying in this regard.

Yea feel like it’s on apex at this point, it’s so odd how smooth and good things felt the first few weeks even with millions playing compared to now with thousands and the servers just feel broken, it’s night and day.   I keep trying cause the game was so much fun, but keep being let down or even worse off with each update.  Cod and others have had plenty of issues, but these servers feel far worse than those and honestly even worse than any game I’ve played in recent memory all the sudden.  Entire matches in slo mo and teammates and enemies skipping around the map, it’s rough at the moment. Guess wel see what the next seasons fixes do, but it seems to get worse with every “fix” they add.  Even when some people had issues early on my games felt amazing, but here the last weeks it took a nose dive.

The connection has always been pretty decent for me, even playing with my friend who lives in Japan but I must admit after this hunt event update I have been experiencing issues in basically every game I've played and I've confirmed on my side it's not due to the router. I'm confident they'll resolve the issues though as they're fairly active with the community and hear the issues that we're facing.

Seems at least for me aside from fn code leaf and code net the games playing much better season 2.

I believe they addressed the leaf messages in a Reddit post saying they're working on it
