RL317 Posted June 1, 2018 Share Posted June 1, 2018 I picked up my phone earlier to check a website and noticed it wasn't responding despite the WiFi symbol indicating I was still connected to the R1 WiFi, so I rebooted the R1 to see if that would clear things up. I haven't had any issues like this after my last reboot about a week ago, but I also haven't been on my GUI for a while as I haven't played any games for a week or so (kept my PS4 unplugged because of constant storms, and I don't want a repeat of 2016...) so all in all it was a bit strange. That didn't clear it up. Either my WiFi would keep dropping out every other second or it would say "connected with Internet" but nothing (not even the GUI) would respond. When I could get the GUI to finally load, I tried a diagnostic test but it failed with "something went wrong" and the weird white grade text as well as no ping results. I tried to open my speedtest app as it's usually a good indicator of problems when it doesn't immediately identify my ISP and my nearest server, and it just showed buffering symbols. So I reset to factory defaults and did the usual - reconnected with the netdumar1 password, changed it to my usual password and reconnected, turned off IPv6 and miscellaneous settings, and changed WiFi channel. It was worse than before so I tried changing WiFi channel back to default and it made no difference. Pages would load (kinda) on the browser now, but even the GUI page load times were slow and you don't even need an Internet connection to access that. I ran a wired speed test with everything maxed (correct values in set bandwidth, 100% reactive, no device prio, no other devices online) and got 15Mb down, 1Mb up, 15ms latency and 22ms jitter. I turned my BT Smart Hub WiFi on, connected my phone to it and using the speedtest app, I got 7ms latency, 0ms jitter, 52Mb down and 10Mb up. No issues loading web pages there. Also when trying to do the diagnostic test on the R1 90% of them fail now, and the ones that work show double my usual latency. Never seen that before either. Any idea what's going on? Usually this constant dropping out nonsense happens when you're forced to change WiFi channels, but none of them make a difference and the GUI itself is unresponsive lol. I'm saving a backup of this question to my clipboard just in case the connection times out when I send it ._. Edit - now getting <4Mb down and <0.05Mb up. FML. BENORMOUS Posted June 1, 2018 Share Posted June 1, 2018 This exact thing happened to me a long time ago but it was during really warm weather and the blinds on my front room window was up and didn't realise sun was blazing through onto the r1,it acted strange for a good few hours and wouldn't perform diagnostic tests,I unplugged everything from the wall and left it unplugged all day whilst I went out,when I plugged it back in everything was back to normal later that evening Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
RL317 Posted June 1, 2018 Author Share Posted June 1, 2018 I was getting this (first screenshot) earlier and that was only when the WiFi would actually stay connected long enough to reach a server - and my phone was literally on top of my R1. Second screenshot was over Smart Hub WiFi. I had to reset to factory defaults three times and pull the cable numerous times just to get a WiFi connection so I could access the GUI again. Already got that covered mate. It's in a spot where there's plenty of room for ventilation, so I've never had any problems like that in two years with it. I'm also already on 1.03.6j (remember my "is it possible to downgrade?" thread? ). Haven't had any issues regarding bandwidth or stupid high latency since then, after many more reboots and factory resets, but it does still struggle (or flat out refuse) to complete a diagnostic test, and it seems to take longer to connect to the Internet after a reboot. See the screenshot below - that WiFi symbol will have an x next to it, while it's normally very fast getting back online after a reboot. Also I tested WiFi on IW as I know playing wirelessly never gave me packet loss for some reason - well, not enough to ever trigger connection icons anyway. That was giving me constant hexagon (packet loss) icons throughout the game so I switched back to wired and didn't see anymore issues in that regard. I used the same cable that links Hub to R1 to connect the R1 to the PS4 and still didn't have any issues wired, which I'm glad about because it's a new cable lol. Otherwise I'm getting normal throughput over WiFi again, as shown by the speed test result below. On a side note, isn't that jitter unusually low for WiFi? A lot of the time I get 0ms jitter, and I've never seen it go over 3ms except for that anomalous result above with over 1800ms and next to no throughput. I'd assume that dash just means it couldn't test at the time; I've never seen a x% show up on the speedtest app. It's awful, my player movement stutters and if it shows up while I'm shooting there'll be no hitmarkers whatsoever. Zennon Posted June 3, 2018 Share Posted June 3, 2018 I would be checking the voltage with a volt meter to check to see if the power supply is drooping slightly. If it was less than a year ago then you could be within your warranty. Iv lost full access to gui duma wont restore to default using both methods.i changed to static ip on wan and now can only acsess other router through 192.168.1.1 but all devices are connected to duma but cannot access gui on duma only the other router internets active but just cannot seem to get it back onto 192.168.88.1.when i disconnect duma an router it lets me access 192.168.88.1 an so on but with no avail to duma os i only want to reset it to default firmware is current release some one help please.... We'll assess the situation and take it from there To be honest mate I've not had any issues after that post from two days ago where I mentioned the problem had apparently cleared up. Diagnostic tests are now completely (all normal results too), no bandwidth drops or WiFi dropouts. Apparently one of the many factory resets or reboots helped lol.
