Some DumaOS/Netgear issues

Recommended Posts

ok I had to try this router out. DumaOS is really cool. Very impressive.

Issues that I have had.

1. R-app not loading and you cannot get into the router. You have to hit the reset button on the router in the back if you get this issue. Power cycle did not fix this. The issue never came back

2. Ethernet ports will drop out but wifi will still work. I'm not sure if this is a issue on my end, but if you google it Netgear routers are known for this issue.

3. Port Scan and DoS Protect says in the log I was getting DoS from apple, amazon, even my own Internet service provider. All the ip's came back owned to a company. It just seemed weird to me.

4. Also the main way to login to the router no longer works.  routerlogin.net standard login for Netgear routers. Fix is just head to 192.168.1.1 default gateway for netgear.

5. Geo-filter map seems bugged on dashboard. I got it to work one time and after that its just a blank. Works fine on this own page.

6. What is the R-app store? Just wondering.

Hi fishboy911,

Glad you like it!

  1. We would like to diagnose further but glad you have managed to resolve it. I will PM you our email addresses and we can conduct a 1 on 1 with you today/this weekend.
  2. I didn't know this was a known Netgear issue. We would also like to diagnose this via 1 on 1. Was there anything specific done to trigger this behaviour?
  3. You're not actually getting DoS'd, it is just incoming connections the log file outputs. Log is more for technical support than for a user to look at.
  4. What do you mean it doesn't work? What happens when you do this? We would like to diagnose that also.
  5. What do you mean bugged? Did you have a device added at the time? We can look into this as well.
  6. That will allow us to add more features and eventually have people download R-Apps (features) as they want them.

Yes I do but doesn't let me know when updated.. When I check it says I have latest. V2.0.0.28 is what it says in system info - I am pretty sure same version it was when I opened it.

Yep same thing for me. Check for latest and says no new firmware (V2.0.0.28).

I'm in Vegas hotel at the moment, so I don't have a router to hand. We have our own internal versioning system which differs to NG and embarrassingly I forgot what NG called this version. The easiest way to check if you have the latest version is to go to the Geo-Filter R-App. To the right of the distance slider do you see a profile button? If you do you're on the latest if not you're not. Hope that helps :)

Just a update router firmware update seems to fix any issues I had.

Geo-filter works on dashboard now.

and all ports on router working no drop outs on Ethernet.

routerlogin.net standard login for Netgear routers is working again.

So great work guys :)

Hi ExtraCrispy,

Have you got the R-App not loaded issue right now?

If so the easiest way to fix it is to hard reset. You do that by gettiing a thin object and pushing it in the hole at the back of the router. Keep pushing for 20 - 30 seconds ( its a longer than you think ). Then release and let the machine start. Do not turn it off.

Does this fix the issue?

Also do you remember what you did to bring it back? One thing to remember, if you've restarted your router and go immediately to the ui you'll get r-app not loaded on the Geo-Filter as it takes 2 mins to start

Hope that helps :)

So far it’s reinstalling nicely, so I’m betting that the root cause of all the r apps not working are because we’re all too impatient and want to see this awesome machine fire up ASAP lol. Now that I think about it, I used my desktop to set it up the first time then a laptop the second time. Need to let everyone else know to clear their known wireless networks if originally set up wirelessly so they don’t accidentally sync up to the UI and cause more of these instances. Only 2mins to startup?! More like 5....

Thanks for the help and knowledge

Great news! If you enabled the DumaOS Classified Games option in Traffic Prioritization then it will prioritise both consoles. Then make sure that UPnP is enabled so that both consoles can open the necessary ports for an open NAT so that you don’t have any issues connecting to players. Also there is no need to enable the Geo-Filter for PUBG as I believe they allow you to choose region just like on the PC version of the game.

Thanks for the heads up, I pretty much new all that but after experimenting with the port forward feature some I found that porting the alternative ports for for PUBG actually made it work better on the 2nd consoles.

Sure thing, for the first console I use 80-81, 88, 443  and for the second one I use 8008, 8080-8081, 8088, 8443, 8888.  I know there are a few extras but from what i looked up on IANA they seem to be the alternate ports to the alternates of the main ports.  Oh and make sure to set both consoles up with static ips (through R1) and manually set them on your consoles to match the static IPs you put on the R1.  Also, be sure to have your main Xbox ported not just from 3074, but 3074-3076(will save you time if you play COD), and manually set the xbox port on your 2nd xbox with one of the 50000 ports and add that to the port forwarding rules on the R1 for the 2nd console.  After everything pulls up right on both consoles and you have proper connectivity, power cycle all you equipment and enjoy!  Let me know how it works out on the R1?

P.S.  I use the geo-filter, placed in the center of america with 1400-1600 miles(make sure to get the east and west coast servers) with strict mode enable.  Stops the punks from china from jumping in the same lobby and making the ping shoot to over 150ms.
