Lag Compensation Problems? (not sure what this is tbh)

Can you show this happening live in a video?

I could but that could be faked.

 

Everyone can download PingPlotter ping twitter.com while running a speedtest on a PC or laptop which saturates your line and have the sliders at 100% then on the next test have them at 70% and you will see the results for your own line.

 

Test using preemptive then with reactive to find the lowest jitter between the two.

The Netduma is sold on a very misleading basis as most think its plug play (as its sold this way by youtubers) which its not.

 

 

Sorry were did I say I believe any youtubers?! I was stating that the thing is mis-sold by them. As they dont explain how to set it up, thats its different to each person connection and router set up.

 

The quote above this one is what you said.  Which says you were mislead by YouTubers into buying this router. I simply said if you're looking and YouTubers to buy items then you will ALWAYS be mislead because they are being paid (directly or indirectly) to push the sale of an item. Regardless of what the item is. If you want to know about how something works, look into it yourself. Especially any kind of "gamer" product, since we're sold snake oil most of the time. Read real reviews from people you know purchased it. Look at the setup guides or manuals. Hell you could have even posted here and asked and someone would've answered all your questions before purchasing.

 

So next time you comment use your brain and realise the R1 doesnt always stop lag at all as there are videos by tech companies proving this to be untrue as each game is set up differently and yes the R1 needs to be adjusted for all games, which to the casual user who see's it being sold as 'Dominate Lag' thinks this is what it does, yet it only does this at times if you set it up right.

 

The R1 will ALWAYS stop lag. Where are these videos from tech companies that prove it doesn't stop lag? Congestion control stops local congestion, and the geo filter finds local hosts for the lowest possible ping. Those two completely eliminate any possible laggy situations. Now what it can't fix, is your potato internet that has more packet loss than packets being sent. But, no router can do that sooo...

 

 

The R1 was mainly to stop lag in COD which again is 50/50.

 

Actually on netduma.com (their sales site) I don't think they mention COD at all. In fact, no game is specifically mentioned in any of their advertising.

 

Also its not plug and play as you do have to adjust things everytime you play on any game to get the best settings, as its not like it sets it all for you on the fly as you play.

 

It's as plug and play as any other router. I set my congestion control to 70%, geo filter to about 600 miles, console in hyper traffic, and I play with no issues. Nothing special, just the recommended settings, which I never adjust for every game.

 

Whether congestion control is set to 99% or 9% it doesn't make a difference to your hit detection or lag comp in game. As long as your ping is low, the router is doing it's job. Everyone fails to realize that congestion control isn't a hit detection slider.

ModBox is right. The router DOES stop lag. if you're lagging, its either because 

 

1. The router is not set up properly.

2. You're not really having a lag problem, you're probably having the issue that I'm having, which is a line or modem problem (hopefully that's my issue). That is not lag.

 

Lag and Lag comp in my opinion are two different things. when you lag, your character goes all over the place, you can't move, and the deaths are a different kind of what we scream when we die, "BULLS***". Lag compensation issues is a little different. Lag compensation applies more to the hit detection, who shot who first while 4 barring kind of problem. When you have very good connection with the Duma, but are suffering from this kind of issue constantly, you are obviously having a lag comp problem, which in my case is probably from having a not so great modem, line quality, congestion problems, etc. 

 

Again, ModBox is right. and to clarify what you are now denying, you did say that you were mislead by youtubers to create the opinion you now have on the Duma.

Place Geofilter home over your nearest server

Distance set to 100-150 miles

Strict on

Get bufferbloat as best you can http://www.dslreports.com

 

You may struggle to find games at first

But it's worth the wait.

 

I have found doing this the ping are much more balanced

All that can be achieved by using DSLReports, which isn't highly recommended anymore for whatever reason. But you can use DSLReports to mess around with the CC controls, and as you mess around with it, you want to try and get A+ on both bufferbloat and quality. Just move the sliders around, you'll find something :) ask A7 for advice on that, he'd be able to tell you how to effectively use the sliders to your advantage in finding that perfect sweet spot for A+ everything for perfect gameplay!

Yeah i know just wondering why users think A7, has some magic settings when the r1 is pretty straight forward so i thought i would ask. I get an A+ on BB 90% of the time.

EVERYONE thinks that, that's why I think we have so many people complaining constantly over nothing. I love you A7, but you're definitely at fault for everyone getting cursed out ;) LOL. There is no magic setting. If that was the case, everyone would be running the exact same set up, and this forum wouldn't even need to exist. If it did, the only question on the forum would be "WHAT IS THE MAGIC SETTING?" with one answer and locked. And thank you! I hope so too.

So basically, A7's secret is ordering pizza every damn week to give him the knowledge of these "magic settings"? Count me the hell in, I'm calling my local pizza place as we speak!

But since you did do that, there's definitely another problem because your ping to your modem shouldn't have any packet loss. That means it's either a bad ethernet or you're testing wireless?

 

If I ping my modem my ping is all over the place too, but that doesn't mean anything... As you can see though, no red for packet loss.

I think MoDBoX meant when you log into your modem, you should be able to look at your signal levels ('Advanced Settings' or 'Info' I expect) rather than pinging your modem with pingplotter.

 

It sounds as though you do have an issue with your line, I apologise for what I said about it being you rather than your connection.

It's no problem, Colonic. At least we tested it and now know what's going on. We all got on the wrong foot before, but at least we're all okay now.

Don't worry it's not blurry... Signal is pretty much perfect so I would say that's fine. Definitely change your ethernet cables, if you don't have any other ones buy some here:

And then if you still are having significant packet loss issues we'll go from there. But then it's definitely a problem with your ISP which has to be fixed by them, not necessarily inside your house either.

Yeah When I looked at it on my phone it is blurry but can make it out on my PC's

In the UK we use an Rj11 cable from the master socket to the modem.

 

So to diagnose until you can prove it is an ISP issue start with the cheapest options first to yourself, replace Rj11 then the Rj45 (Ethernet) and if that does not help then the modem you could ask for a replacement or purchase a better one yourself.

 

If it still persists it is an ISP broadband or line issue.

Sorry for the late response. I just ordered Cat7's to see if that fixes it. I don't want to get another modem due to the fact I've already spent enough money to fix this. If anything, I'd rather the ISP come by me to check the line. If they say the line is ok, I'll show them the ping plotter to see if they will test further. If they do and it's still ok, what modem should I get to replace the one I already have?

Oh they will say the line is fine because it's never a problem on their end :rolleyes: , plus your signal levels are literally perfect. Showing them pingplotter they won't know what they're even looking at. Tell them to check for noise. Check the house for noise as well as the incoming signal from the tap.

 

The TP-Link TC-7610 is the best modem to get.

Also do me a favor and run this file as administrator on your PC. Right click and select run as administrator
