lthoma89
Probably a dumb question since bf games are mainly servers we can choose to play on but just wondering.
Netduma Staff Netduma Crossy Posted May 17, 2015 Netduma Staff Share Posted May 17, 2015 Battlefield 4 is officially supported on Xbox 360 so that defiantly works. I think the newer one does to some extent. Obviously if you are selecting the server you can't use the GeoFilter as you said. I'm not sure if there is any matchmaking in the game but I assume if there is that the GeoFilter would work for it
gamerukali
It works kinda like if you use the quick match option than set your geo filter. I had good games tonight had my ping assist to 20 got into a server with avrage 15ms ping it was around 400km aeay from me
Zennon
And then you have the congestion control part of the Netduma doing it's thing to keep your pings as low as posssible on your network.

AOrtiz
Why would it not be supported on PS4?
Netduma Staff Netduma Crossy Posted May 17, 2015 Netduma Staff Share Posted May 17, 2015 Why would it not be supported on PS4? It might work on PS4 but it isn't officially supported I don't believe (at lease it isn't on the buyers guide) for PS4). It might still work though - just means it hasn't been tested
sharpz44
Bf4 uses dedicated servers ,the R1 with geo on will let you see we're the server is based and that's it, like above if you use quick match then and have your geo set you should not join a server outside of it,the best way to see a general ping of a server is to use battlelog on your laptop and join it via that.Bf4 has so many out of region players in the servers as you probs already know, but having congestion on will help your connection to the server. Guateuc
it works on the ps4 with BF4 and BFH. Sometimes on quickmatch I would be put in EU servers (Not using r1), but using Geo-filter it works placing me in east servers.
Od1n
tried it on PS4 a while ago and it works since its dedi only all you see are the dedi servers you only benefit from the geo-filter when playing matchmaking, the server browser already lets you filter between the different regions, eg EU in EU theres only one EA server in Amsterdam i think, so using the geo-filter doesnt make much sense when searching a game from the server browser
AOrtiz
Does any one have any setting they use when playing? I'm in the east coast but most of the time I play with people on the west coast servers. I currently have geo filter off but wondering if anyone has home location set and what settings they may be using.
Od1n
i wouldnt do any changes or use the geo-filter with BF4, its much better to just use the server browser with your prefered region ticked the reason is that BF4 does switch players to a different server after a map is loaded incase the majority of people comes from a certain region example: first game: 60% EU, 30% US, 10% AUS players game will be running on an EA EU server during the game a lot of EU players stop playing and new US players come in, so before the game stops we have the following: 40% EU, 50% US, 10% AUS players during the next game transition the people will be transfered to a US server to guarantee a good ping for everyone now if you play with geo-filter on a certain server for a long time then it can happen that the server "jumps" out of your filter after a game and you lose connection if you use matchmaking though then id use it as you have no influence by the game as to where you want to play
AOrtiz
Thanks for the feedback...That explains why I loose connection when I have it on.
