setting Netduma as secondary router

Recommended Posts

Why would you want to do that? You'll lose out on the Congestion Control settings if you do.

You'd be better off having the Netduma as the first router, then have the other router in Access Point mode or 'Bridge' or whatever it's called on there.

What would I gain from this? How would my Netgear x10 work?

It will work as an access point. Router duties will be disabled.

You will retain the features of congestion control from the Netduma which you will lose if you allow other devices to connect to the other router before the Netduma.

I have mine like this:

ISP hub (wifi disabled AND only Netduma wired) > Netduma (wifi disabled) > Asus RT-N66U.

It gives me the 2.4ghz + 5ghz network which I need and extra ethernet ports to play with but minimal faffing about.

You can do it the way you said of course and still use the Geo filter but you will lose the anti flood / hyper lane / device priority.

You'll need to setup QOS on the Nighthawk.

so,, basically if i set the netduma as the main router, my second router will be for wifi access only?  Thats $540 down the drain.  There has to be another way.  The only thing i want to use on the netduma is the geofilter.  is that possible?

Given that the Netgear router is great for WiFi which is what I assume you bought it for then putting it in AP mode so you can utilise it's WiFi would be absolutely fine. In which case it would go ISP modem/router (modem mode or R1 in DMZ) > Netduma (wired devices, WiFi off) > Netgear (AP mode, WiFi devices connected). Then you can utilise all the features of the R1 and you get the great WiFi.

Otherwise you could do ISP modem/router (modem mode or Netgear in DMZ) > Netgear > R1 (PS4) if you just want to use the Geo-filter.

Truthfully I bought the netgear x10 to upgrade my network. I already have a Netgear r7000. I was using the r7000 in ap mode just for wifi and netduma as primary router. I have had the r7000 for several years and the #3 lan port went out. I have been also having so many issues with the netduma I purchased the x10 hoping to replace the r7000 and only use r1 for Geo-filter.

At this point I really don't know what to do. I am extremely frustrated with my network I bit the bullet and spent $540 on supposedly the best router(x10).

Really just don't know what to do. I'm tired of rebooting, unplugging, changing settings and etc on the Netduma. Just want something that works!!!

HI Stro3579 I have been having issues as well, I know how to reslove all of them as well. But just like you said solving them typically comes with a reboot. I have since put my network setup as my sb6190 > Asus which has excellent performance no reboots needed. I'm sure your netgear x10 will do fine. Have have the netduma plugged into the netgear x10 with one pc connected to the netduma for generalized control such as geofilter adjusting or whatever else along with the console. Have every other device connect to the netgear x10. Hopefully I could help, I just set it up like this because there are many issues and I got tired of the reboot being apart of daily use. Your netgear x10 has the ability to run your network with no issues so I say use it bro.

What issues are you currently having with the Netduma being plugged into the Netgear? Are you getting your full speeds with that set-up, and are you able to use the Netduma settings? If you give us the specifics of the problem we can fix them one by one, that's the only way you'll get the most out of your setup.

Hey FatalDragon, I've noticed you keep posting in other peoples threads saying you have issues. It'd be great if you could make your own thread and state the problems you've been having, that way we can give you support.

Issues......In game pings are high via BO3 and Netduma(over 30).  Ping test with pingplotter or speedtest.net say my pings are 22-25 dn speeds 120 and up speeds 5.5.  Im getting tons of lag when using duma.  Tried all types of settings.  Cant even get into a game on CODIW.  just keep getting booted out of lobby unless i untick strict mode.

I bought the new router(x10) and plugged all devices to it without the Netduma.  Pings are still 22-25  dn speeds 130 up speeds 6.  In BO3 pings were 30 and below.

Im just extremely fustrated.  tired of playing with this router.  I find myself playing with the router more then the games.

Also with the new router, i played a game of bo3.  game was good, except others were laging and dominating me.  Probally due to no Geofilter?  Duno

Hello Netduma Jack I have been having issues. The reason why I am not going to make a thread is that I have been a netduma user for a year and a half. I have literally been able to fix every single problem. Thru reading other threads. So that's not a problem, the issue I have is not fixing the problems it's that the problems are built directly Into the netduma which no one can help me with. No matter how many times I fix the problems they will recreate themselves. I have had this router through multiple isp's and modems it's the same on all of them. The only thing I'm waiting for is duma OS. That may be the only relief.

For you Stro3579

Go look in your router settings on your netgear x10 and find the qos options, adjust those until you have comfortable gameplay. It could have been a bad lobby infinite warfare is notorious for cappy lobbies. Either way the netgear x10 will make the network run a bit better than your netduma based on the speeds you pay for. I pay for about 300down and 50up and thru my asus I get 380 down and 68 up. Trust me your netgear x10 and ps4 are not the problem with cod lag. However the added ping is the netduma glitch experienced it before. But like usual a reboot can fix it.

Wouldn't base netduma off infinite warfare. Game is broken on servers end. Yes u must have strict off which had to do with ping on IW.. Only have miles enabled. If u turn on strict it will boot u after every game or turn on ping assist.

Obviously netduma or other ppl haven't throughly tested or don't play the game. I'm prestige 3. Tested strict and ping assist in and out of party's.

Strict off. U can play fame lobby over n over till u leave. Test this yourself.

Ping assist and strict doesn't work on infinite warfare. If u adjust ping assist people will be outside your circle. Aka distance.

No router is worth $500+ lol most of the netgear stuff is on a HUGE hype train just from a spec sheet, but to an end user it mostly does nothing better than a $20 router from 2005.

I think a lot of peoples issues stems from the fact that they think they'll be able to get perfect games every time if they've set the router up properly. You change a setting then play oh it wasn't good so then you change something else, rinse, repeat. Set it and forget it for the most part and actually play and you'll enjoy it a lot more trust me.

With that being said I'm confident all your issues can be resolved. Just create a new thread with the screenshots from here: http://support.netduma.com/support/solutions/articles/16000022425-lag-support-instructions-to-post-on-the-forum-

If necessary I can always do a 1 on 1.

You do not have to have strict off with IW. Ping assist by very definition allows people/games outside your radius that are under your limit.

I have tested with strict on and it does work. I am happy to do a 1 on 1 with people that insist it doesn't work.

Fraser,
You don't understand what I'm telling you I have done all your suggestions I have had a 1 on 1 with you before. You are very helpful I appreciate that and I love my router. But I'm not going to keep setting up 1 on 1's if the settings I want to use with the router cause glitches which is a well known thing across the forum. I'm not just posting saying I have the same problem. I'm here just like you trying to help your customers and other netduma users. I just don't want individuals coming in others threads attempting to make them think they need to get new modems or new isp's like they have been because the netduma has certain bugs. I will post if I have the same issue as the individual and I will explain my solutions. Being that I am a long time user I have had almost a year to use this firmware I understand it. If certain things are bugged if not used a certain way I want to tell people the truth and that's what I'm doing.

Better watch out speak ur mind here and they will ban u. They did it to me already. They know their router don't work with infinite warfare and glitches galore. Fix one thing and it comes back sooner than later.

And how does it not work with IW? mine works perfect with IW and all other games, xbox one.

UPnP off in settings and forwarding off in misc settings, UPnP off in my 7800n , xbox live ports & 3074 to 3076 tcp&udp forwarded in the duma, Hyper Traffic set to Xbox so my packets get priority over my son while hes online.

Geo covering the UK, Ireland and some of Europe, congestion control reactive 70% each way, device priority flower untouched, share excess, .

I warned you for your language, nothing to do with speaking your mind.

I do not work for ND, I admin the forum only.

you must have a super Netduma, because All i have is issues with IW.  I get kicked while i am waiting in lobbys to start game.  I get kicked back to the Public Match screen.  The game sometimes makes it to the count down, but still kicks me.  If i dont have strict mode ticked i can play.
