Ruthless24
Hello Duma Army! I currently play BO3 on Xbox One with a download of speed of 45 and upload speed of 5. The last couple of weeks I've been noticing less and less smooth gameplays from lag and really bad hit detection. The lag tends to happen right when I'm about to encounter other players and literally insta-die! Aside from my judgement of a bad server due to lag and hit detection is there a certain way to see if indeed it is a bad server I'm playing on so I can avoid? Is it possible that a player with high ping is host? How would I know that? Is blocking them my only option? I use preemptive and my download caps 70/70 along with Hyper-Traffic and Xbox live as my service. I have the IPv6 unticked in the LAN, WAN and Micelleneous. Finally I have my Xbox IP reserved under DHCP Lease. Attached are my Duma settings along with my Ping Plotter results. Any help or suggestions are appreciated as I'm slowly learning what works best for me. Thank you!
brutus209
Put your location in the Pacific Ocean, set the smallest distance you can, set ping to 36 enable strict. I'm in central California, There is a LA dedicated server I always connect to with low ping and get great games. Download to 90 upload to 45. Give it a try and try and get that LA server. Your first game will take a minute or two, but once you get in you should be good to go.

Zennon
Your ISP has some large 200ms spikes and a couple at 400ms.

Ruthless24
The laggy server is only 43km away from me, I gave it a bad rating and I connected to another laggy server also 43km but not the same one as the ID's were different. Is that normal?
ColonicBoom
The server banks consist of multiple machines (no idea how many), there will be a lot of different server IDs at the same location and you will find that some play nice and some don't always - some that are naff one day can also be will be great on other days too. If they all play badly for you then the issue is likely not the servers and is more likely your line.
Ruthless24
Its just frustrating because when I first got the Duma my gameplays were so smooth! Playing last night felt like I wasn't even using my Duma...After doing some tests on dslrports my BufferBloat: C, Quality: A, Speed: D
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted May 16, 2016 Administrators Share Posted May 16, 2016 As Zennon says you're seeing some instability on your line, I would do more tests over different times/days and see if it persists. Then take it to your ISP and see if they can help.
UK_Wildcats_Fans
I like in San Diego and get very inconsistent gaming performance on the Cali servers. When I am party leader, my friends also get inconsistent game plays. That is why I avoid Cali servers. If you want to play on CA servers, I suggest putting your home location over a specific server and then lower the radius to just cover that server with STRICT mode ENABLED. You then try all the servers and see which one works best for you. As another test, you can also put your home location in the middle of Texas and have a radius to cover most of Texas with STRICT mode ENABLED. It will take longer to find matches, but it will give you a different playing experience for comparison.
Ruthless24
I've noticed that occasionally my ping will spike up to 200ms! I have a Motorola SBG6580 IPS in bridge mode is there anything I should look out for setting wise for my IPS to work more efficiently with the Duma? I contacted my cable company and they told me ISP was fine
ColonicBoom
I've noticed that occasionally my ping will spike up to 200ms! I have a Motorola SBG6580 IPS in bridge mode is there anything I should look out for setting wise for my IPS to work more efficiently with the Duma? I contacted my cable company and they told me ISP was fine Your ISP will always tell you that your line is fine unless it's down completely or if you prove it's not fine (and usually they won't even acknowledge the proof either). I have two lines, with different ISPs, into the same room at the moment (one cable line and one Fibre/VDSL line). The cable ISP tells me that my line is fine but it plays so badly, drops out completely every day sometimes for 24hrs and takes forever to do anything. They sent an engineer out and he told me that something is wrong with the 'outside network' but when I phoned up a few days later they blamed it on my third party equipment (which was not even connected to that line at the time) and they denied that there is anything wrong at all - they did acknowledge that it was down for two 24hr periods at least. I know my cable ISP is lying because I can see the difference between their shit line and the new line I just had installed. They just don't want to admit it because then they'd have to give me some money back.
ColonicBoom
I know this doesn't help if it's your isp and I really do feel your pain but if you want to be sure it's not your Netduma setup then connect your laptop straight to the modem/isp hub, disabled the wifi, and ping away. I still saw 1800ms ping spikes, told my isp and they said "everything is normal". Had to change isp before I lost my mind.

Ruthless24
I'll actually had my sliders at 90/90! I normally play late at night when there is very little internet usage in my house hold. I'll give that a try tonight. I was also told that Motorola and Arris brand modems aren't the best for gaming and that's what I currently use, I've had it for about 4.5 years...if I decide to purchase a new cable modem is there brand that would be better recommended for gaming and my Duma? My internet provider is Time Warner Cable. Thank you guys I appreciate your help.
PharmDawgg
These are not the fastest out there because I am only on a 65/15 bandwidth. But as long as these modems that I have listed are compatible with your Time Warner they will work fine with the R1 router. I can not speak for any of the other modems made by those companies thought. These are the only ones I have used.
