FlexJ reacted to Netduma Alex in Welcome R2 owners! We want your feedback!
Hello, congratulations and thank you to all of the new R2 owners!
I'm making this thread because we'd like everybody's honest opinions on the product. The cool thing about the R2 is that it's the same unit that our developers use to develop on, so if you find any bugs or have any issues, we should be able to respond quickly to that feedback in new firmwares. I can report any issues straight to the developers and get an answer very quickly about how feasible an update is.
Because DumaOS is developed using Netduma R2's, you should expect cutting edge updates and new features to come to the R2 before other platforms. Keep an eye on this forum for our latest firmwares, because the R2 doesn't currently have an auto-update function for firmwares.
However we CAN send out automated updates for the Geo-Filter map, the Ping Heatmap lists, the Device Types, the Traffic Priorization profiles and the Adblocker lists. In future we'll add the ability to update features through the rapp store!
Anyway that was a tangent, let us know what you think, and thanks again for supporting Netduma!

Hi Everyone - the Netduma R2 has arrived:
The R2 has been built for DumaOS 3.0 from day one and is available for pre-order now, including a launch discount for early orders. As our latest in-house router, we will be able to deploy the next wave of DumaOS features to the R2 first.
The R2 will officially ship from August 6th.
https://www.netduma.com/order/netduma-r2/
From all of us at Netduma, thank you for your continued support over the years. Without you, none of this would be possible.
Finally - to the R2 beta testers. THANK YOU.

FlexJ reacted to Netduma Luke in ANNOUNCEMENT: DUMAOS 3.0 IS HERE
Hi Everyone,
Today we are delighted to announce that signups for the DumaOS 3.0 beta are now open - this will be gradually rolled out to everyone who signs up, over time.
This is a big step. It means that after many months of hard work, we are now ready for you guys to begin testing 3.0 on your DumaOS powered routers.
What is in DumaOS 3.0?
It’s named 3.0 for a reason. It marks the next generation of DumaOS, our router operating system. Not only will 3.0 come with a whole bunch of new features for your router, we have also overhauled a tonne of things under the hood which will make it far easier for us to get new features to you in the future.
So far, we have announced four of the eight major features coming in 3.0. You can read more about each of them here:
Geo-Fencing: draw multiple Geo-Filters of any shape around your favourite server banks Application QoS: prioritize the traffic that matters the most to you by allocating bandwidth by application type e.g. gaming, streaming etc. Connection Benchmark: run a pure test of your Internet line to find out how stable your ping is and if you are getting your full bandwidth speeds Traffic Controller: block any applications, ports or devices from accessing the Internet. Feature 5: Announcing Soon Feature 6: Announcing Soon Feature 7: Announcing Soon Feature 8: Announcing Soon Further feature reveals will be posted on our blog here: https://netduma.com/blog/
How do I Signup?
Netduma R1 owners - go here: https://netduma.com/dumaos-3-0-signup-for-netduma-r1/
Nighthawk Pro Gaming users (XR300, XR450, XR500, XR700) - go here: http://www.netgearinnovation.com/dumaos-beta/index.html
When will I get the beta?
When making a major software update like 3.0, it's normal for things to not be perfect at the start. So as much as we would love each and every one of you to get your hands on 3.0 right now, it would be risky for us to do it in one go.
Instead we will be phasing the roll-out, starting off with a small number of testers. Once things are looking good, we will add some more, then more, gradually increasing until everyone who has signed up has received the upgrade.
When we are ready for you to join the beta you will get an email into your inbox with instructions on how to join. Please be patient - we will email you when we are ready.
Finally...
We want to thank you for your support and patience during the development of 3.0. We are very aware that it has taken time. But it really has been worth it. It has allowed us to take DumaOS to the next level. Work is already underway on 3.1 and we're working on some seriously big features that will give you even more control over your lag and your network.
We hope you have fun testing 3.0.

I requested this today as someone else has just asked for it as well.

FlexJ reacted to Netduma Alex in DHCP option 60 & 61 feature?
Unfortunately Option 61 is something the R1 doesn't support. It can be changed on the NETGEAR Nighthawk Pro Gaming routers because they have a NETGEAR specific section of the interface with more complicated controls. You might need to use your Sky hardware and connect your R1 to that. I'm sorry that I couldn't be more helpful.
I don't know if Sky can release this limitation from their end, or if they really just hate people trying to use their own hardware in their own homes.

FlexJ reacted to Netduma Joseph in DumaOS Developer Q&A
Hi All
Just thought you guys would like to know what I'm working on. I am currently working on the automated test scripts for DumaOS. This should significantly improve the development process with regards to how fast we can test the OS and identify bugs to be fixed. I also work on the cloud Geo-filter database to provide the most accurate geolocation on the router. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
Yeah this is a great idea that I have actually been working on. We hope to provide something like this in the future.

FlexJ got a reaction from YT_LowPingKing in DumaOS Developer Q&A
As a small streamer. I would like to have some of the r-app's pop out instead of me going back and fourth been browser tabs eg like the ping graph in the original software. And I've mentioned before but it's not possible as of yet. That I would like to then copy that popout url and put it into OBS so my stream can see my ping to the server in my overlay.

FlexJ reacted to Netduma Iain in DumaOS Developer Q&A
The problem is it takes time to port to hardware and by adding a modem you reduce the market size and will have to support multiple WAN technologies. The extra step I understand is a mild irritant for the customer but the amount of development effort is not worth it at this point.
Thanks for the suggestion though!

FlexJ reacted to Netduma Jack in DumaOS Developer Q&A
Hi Duma Army, and welcome to the first Developer Q&A thread!
This your chance to ask the team about the current development and exciting future of DumaOS. Our developers will answer you directly as soon as they can (though this won't be live).
Before we begin, lets get the caveats out of the way:
- Keep it on topic: If you have technical issues with your router this isn't the place to get support. We'll be redirecting and deleting irrelevant posts to keep this thread on topic.
- Keep it civil: Trolling, name-calling or general rudeness will not be tolerated on this thread. Please choose your words carefully and adhere to the forum rules to avoid suspension.
- Keep it brief: Our developers are hard at work and their time is precious. They will try to answer every question they can, but they might not be able to answer every one - especially if your question is two pages long! Spam will not be tolerated.
DumaOS development is driven by your feedback, so we're super excited to hear from you all. If this goes well we may host more Q&A sessions in the future. Fire away with any questions you have and a developer will answer as soon as possible!
