Netduma Staff Netduma Crossy Posted October 23, 2015 Netduma Staff Share Posted October 23, 2015 Is there not anything else new that we can try? I've been at this for almost 6 hours now. All I know is that I can take my 5 year old linksys e3000 router out of the box and plug it in and it'll get me proper upload speeds. It seems ridiculous that i'm losing over 20mb on my upload speed when my download speed is fine. Could you try selecting a different speed test server. Also make sure that you've entered the correct bandwidth in the congestion control boxes. Finally please can you confirm that you've done everything listed here. GreenSteez
I'm going to copy and paste part of my PM message which says almost everything I've tried to keep you up to date.Hello, I'm messaging again in regards to my situation with low upload speed using the netduma router. I have comcast and pay for the 105mb extreme connection. Using my old linksys router, or by connecting my computer directly to the modem I'm able to get 126mb download, and 24mb upload. While using the Netduma I'm able to get 126 download but only anywhere from 1-6mb upload. I've tried putting my sliders down to zero and then back up to 100%. I tried both preemptive and reactive algorithm (reactive gives me faster download). I reset distribustion and made sure share excess is ticked. I've unchecked deep packet processing, i've disabled IPv6 for WAN, LAN, and on the general settings. I've used 3 different ethernet cables. I've reset the netduma to the factory settings and reset all the configurations from scratch. I've turned my modem and netduma completely off and restarted them together. I have the latest firmware as well.

The only thing left is your cable line to your home could be suspect but you mentioned that by switching back to your old router, you get your normal upload speeds. So that theory pretty much went out the door. Only thing left is a setting on the R1 that may have been touched. Just need to know, you didn't touch any settings other then the ones you mentioned correct? Everything is default? Usually, the R1 is "plug and play" without any issues. Issues usually occur when you start fiddling with advance settings but a simple factory reset should bring you back to default.
Zennon
It is Arris TM822.... and as I said before in the comments.. when i hooked the modem up directly to the computer I had my normal upload speeds, unless there is a problem between netduma and my modem.. Fraser can you ask Iain if this could be an Energy-Efficient Ethernet bug?
II Z IE IR O II
Fraser can you ask Iain if this could be an Energy-Efficient Ethernet bug? I've had this modem connected to an R1 before and I haven't had any issues with internet speeds. I've recently switched to an Arris DG1670 modem (300/20 Mbps along with digital telephone service) and have no issues at the moment
II Z IE IR O II
Only thing next is this: Have you touched any settings on your Arris modem? Just a thought because I know for a fact I had to go into my Arris modem and switch some settings for it to work properly with my router.
GreenSteez
I have never touched my Arris modem.. I've probably had it for 3 years... and have plugged and played with it.

So I'm thinking you never set your Arris router/modem in bridge mode? I'm thinking maybe try that to see if it resolves your issue. You can google it and there are a lot of post about this. Maybe this will resolve your issue. I for one had to go into Arris UI and set the modem into "bridge mode" for the R1 to function properly. UPDATE: I think your Modem is NOT able to be put into bridge mode as this particular modem is just that....a modem. My old Arris had built in WiFi and I wanted to use my Extreme Router so that's why I went to the Arris settings and set it up to bypass the Arris modem. I rent my modem through comcast.. and from reading online I was able to find the address to access the modem BUT... the advanced options are locked. I believe comcast keeps its customers from customizing their modems.... so I have no idea how I could set it into bridge mode.

But make sure they understand what you are trying to do. Tell them to turn the wireless/router capabilities off. That way the R1 will take care of this. Its the "gateway" modems that are bridgeable. If your modem has built in WiFi, then it's bridgeable. Now it's back to square 1, why do you have limited upload speed. GreenSteez
Yeah i'm chatting with comcast now... so who knows.. could be 10 minutes could be 2 hours. Lets see if there is anything they can do.
GreenSteez
One thing I'll add as I just checked it again. If i run a speed test now i'll get a solid 2.5mb upload... if I have my xbox one up and running and connecting to games, it goes up to an average of 5 sometimes 6 or 7... which I find to really be odd. GreenSteez
Just to update, Comcast had nothing to add. I spent an hour trying to tell them that I didn't have a problem with their service, just that I cannot access my modem and that I wanted to see if there were any settings that were clashing with the netduma. I'm pretty sure there aren't, but of course they had no idea... they did try to sell me some more cable channels though, so theres that.

GreenSteez
They were zero help, but i'm pretty sure my modem doesn't have a "bridge mode" like zieiro said above since it isn't a modem/router combo. I do have a very strange update, after talking to comcast... my internet dropped for around 2 minutes... and ever since my upload has been averaging from 5mb to 10mb. It isn't the 20+mbps i've been getting, but I can live with it if it stays around here until either a new patch comes out or we finally figure out what is causing the slowdown. http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/4779147917"><img

GreenSteez
Yes, always. I don't intend to use the netduma wireless. I have a range extender for that.
