So where’s the update then?

Recommended Posts

From what I gathered,  the ad blocker would've somehow blocked the update they had in the works from applying. My router is a paperweight and restarts constantly but I'm just going to let time run its course because I did like the features when it worked okay.

I think a lot of people are waiting for the update that was said be be out 2 weeks ago and still nothing! I have had to switch my PS5 over to WiFi to stop it disconnecting during a game of MW3 zombies. Still doesn’t stop the Mrs moaning that the tv has disconnected again!  I love netduma but starting to look at other gaming routers out there. It really disheartens you when your told update is coming then nothing! Even if it’s a small patch it means the router is getting better with each one! Might not fix my issue but will help someone else!  Please please release an update soon! I placed my faith in netduma  and so far just keep getting fobbed off with excuses! I bet this won’t be replied to now for a week lol

Understand the frustration but @Netduma Frasersaid there was a bug with add blocker which they couldn't release the firmware. Obviously some people might be disappointed but Frasier also said the delay will also allow the team to include some more fixes and have a bigger update. Nobody does what Netduma does so hold on a little and I'm sure it will be worth the wait.

What is the frustration about the upcoming firmware update with everybody 🤷‍♂️

Be glad that you guys have a team that is informing you guys about approximately when the update is coming, other company's won't even discuss when or how long it will take for the next update.

Coordinating with the community is great however, a lot of us aren’t used to having these type of instabilities with routers that cost this much. Some people have already sold or given their old routers away so they’re stuck with a half-working device. And then there’s me, with a perfectly working XR1000 while my R3 cosplays as a $233 paperweight til an update drops that HOPEFULLY fixes everything and allows me to return the XR1000 within its return window since I don’t need 2 routers in my household.

I undoubtedly would’ve already returned this thing if it wasn’t for my ability to come here and get updates from the team. However, good post-launch communication doesn’t absolve them from the fact that this has been a shaky release. People reserve the right to complain about things they’ve paid for. Complaints literally make products better when manufacturers care about reviews which the Duma team seems to do. Again, the post-launch communication is the only reason the R3 is even still in my house.

Not to sound horrible or against what you have said but you answered your own question they stated updates last week and delayed it. So when you say "be greatful they are telling us when it's coming" the people that care are annoyed because its delayed that's all and when they stated it would be released it hasn't been

@Mobelwhat is the frustration? Try reviewing the forum posts. The router has some serious issues. Features not working at all, Poor optimization leading to high CPU usage. Honestly, I don’t think a firmware will be released this week. I assume that it would have already been released by now. Must be another blocker or the previous blocker hasn’t been resolved. And it’s highly unlikely that’s its adblocker.

Oh and I wanted to mention that the return period is 14 days. Some of us might have waited for the firmware and now are outside of the return window.

Yup. Definitely outside of mine but if the update doesn’t fix the issue, I’ll fight tooth n nail to get my money back for a nonfunctional product or a replacement at minimum.

They remind me as a game developer, promise this and that ! Bells and whistles! Need to focus on the basics

Exactly what I said when the rave about r3 was announced. I said to everyone they couldn’t even get the basics right on the r2 so don’t be disappointed if it don’t work for the first 3 months. I got 103 downvotes on Reddit lol 😂

@Netduma Fraser Are you going to respond with an update?

Hey, bad bil, would you let me know if you are using the addblocker?

Each one of Us is in here doing our best Sherlock Holms to understand what this router is doing and what is tripping it up for one user whilst another user is not having as many problems.  Your answers may help me figure some things out and my answers may help another.  We basically purchased an expensive router that is actually a "mystery dinner" so to speak and we could just chuck it in the bin and chalk our losses (we have been duped!)  or we can figure what are the best settings in the current build 💩

Hi, I have as blocker on but disabled for PS5, TV, and couple other devices. Have also tried with it off completely but didn’t make much difference to Ethernet devices dropping. I have IPv6 disabled as well.

If you're willing, I have a suggestion.  Factory reset the router. (why do I suggest this?  good question! Because that gives you a fresh starting point!)

after factory reset, DO NOT TURN ON ADDBLOCKER!!!!  I think it is the 💩 that hit the fan.

as far as getting the best out of the things in this router that are working (BECAUSE, AND I CAN'T STRESS THIS ENOUGH, because I often post sarcastic or negative comments in here, THERE ARE MANY THINGS ABOUT THIS ROUTER THAT ARE WORKING AND WHEN THEY DO, IT IS THE SAUCE THAT WE BOUTGHT IT FOR) set up your congestion controls till you get the A+ grade on the waveform speed test, then your hit detection will be good in Call of Duty

Or, if you want an easy solution that may not be through enough to get things done, just torn the addblocker off and click the reboot button in the app

Trust me I understand the frustration. I ask myself all day why wasn't the Netduma r3 stress tested before launch. Kinda feel like this was a Beta launch to be honest. But all we can do is wait, complaining doesnt get the update any sooner. I dont mind waiting for the update though, i would rather the updated firmware be completely polished vs a rushed fix with more problems

I've been able to get steady uptime with ipv6 enabled but not disabled. I've also put my DHCP lease to 1440 and turned off spanning tree protocol. I don't use Geo right now so steady ping and Geo latency are off. I don't have ad blocked enabled either. My R3 is on a laptop cooling pad powered by an old cell charger. Hope this helps.

I have factory reset the router probably 1000 times by now and reinstalled fresh. Tried loads of different configurations. I was one of first to get router so been through .16 - .23 firmware. Notice how I am not getting a reply from admins 🤔 makes you think they can’t find what’s causing problems. Maybe it’s a hardware problem!
