lately been dropping internet, either entirely or just temporarily. My firm ware version is,  V2.3.2.130

buddy, this official version 130 is really beta 120, they only added security patches, dropped xr500, for a few months no patches, just saying that now it will be faster because they have developed some software to create software, but somehow you do not see it, did not expect I have something new in the coming weeks

Sorry to hear this! Could you please go to the LAN settings and set the DHCP pool to start from .50.

After that, reserve IPs for each device on the network from .2 to .49.

This should serve as a temporary workaround to the issue until it's properly fixed by NETGEAR.

Same here as above- net dropped 3 times yesterday- called my provider and check if there’s an outage in Auckland NZ, adv no outages Phew,  several minutes later  I lost internet after doing a reboot. So, I reinstalled latest firmware V130 again and back online now, so far so good.

Any explanation please team.

Thanks Fraser for responding swiftly, if net continues to drop will follow the above suggestion from Liam.

Is it a problem with V130? Would it make any difference if I down grade firmware to V120?

Not specifically that firmware and unfortunately you are likely to still have it on that version. However, some people have said upgrading/downgrading from their current firmware has fixed it so worth a try if you never experienced it on that version.

alright, made those changes and it still has happened. Any other ideas?

When it dropped, did the connection restore itself or did you need to physically reboot it yourself?

Are you able to access the interface by going to routerlogin.net in your web browser when this problem occurs?

usually physically reboot it, its faster. no because it says the router is no longer connected to internet so i cant access the interface

On the web browser? As you don't necessarily need the internet to access the interface as it's a local device

weird, havent been able to get it as a local. Any ideas on what i can change to help lessen the disconnections?

Did you experience this issue when you were running .120? It seems to be different for everyone, but if you weren't having issues on that firmware you could always downgrade to it.

um i think so, but not as often. This version early on i wasnt either. Just been past week or so id say, its been more than 1 a day, but at the sametime there hasnt been any consistency to it. How do you downgrade versions just in case?

As above it's an issue that Netgear need to fix, if you do the suggestions from Liam that can help to prevent/reduce it happening

Just looking for a clear answer... Who is fixing the DHCP issue?

We have NETDUMA saying there can create Firmware's and then send them to netgear to get approved and then we have you above saying NETGEAR are fixing this issue. I've spoken to Netgear and there said there are aware of the issue but its currently being investigated. I'm getting very frustrated that i have a router that is siting in the cupboard collecting dust since march last year.

We continue to work on DumaOS daily - on the XR routers the Settings are completely down to Netgear hence why the XR routers have more options in Settings compared to the R1/R2 which are purely ours. So DHCP would be something for NG to fix.

Okay so let me get this right... netduma create a firmware with there "NEW SYSTEM". test it and pass it over to NG... There apply there fixes and test it and then its given to testers and then released...issue is I have spoken to a few different agents on netgear chat and you get different answers off all of them. You ask for update on this forum and you get someone messaging you back saying we are working on a new firmware with our "NEW SYSTEM". so start away you are not filled with confidence at all.

Like you would be aware from various threads or replies from me. I've had DHCP issues since March 2021 and its still not fixed.  DHCP is a key feature for any router.. You would have thought it would have been fixed by now. I think there has been around 3 firmware updates since march 2021.

I can't speak for the way Netgear runs but the support team at Netduma (me & Liam essentially) have a very close relationship with the devs so we'll be able to give people more accurate answers than even some other companies on where Netduma are at. I appreciate where the confusion comes in, I can't accurately give you the stage at which NG are with any particular fixes but I'm as far as I'm aware they have all the information they need to work on a fix.

I completely understand that but netduma have to see why so many people are frustrated and unhappy with there XR routers. NG dont help the situation either if there are not trying to charge you 99 pound for a extended warranty,  there are giving incorrect information or pushing it back to Netduma.

Me and 3 of my friends all have the XR500 and all of us have the DHCP issue. 3 more weeks and its been 1 year since I first reported the DHCP to Netduma and Netgear. We are not talking about a little feature that is not working...One of the main features of any router and its been broken for at least 1 year now with no firmware in sight to fix the issue.

Completely understand, we definitely see it. It's a big problem for those that experience it and we at Netduma are doing everything we can to communicate the priority of the issue to NETGEAR. We're building new XR500 firmware internally in the next week or so and once that's done, we're going to put it in our endurance testing lab for while to see if we can replicate the issue. Of course NETGEAR's SQA will be doing similar testing on it, but we figure we may as well stress test their side of things as well.

Are you playing over wired or wireless?

Do you currently have an IP address reserved for your console/gaming PC? If not, could you please do this from the LAN setup in the XR500 settings and let us know if you're still getting the same issue?
