For example, we've done the next version for the XR500 build but we're waiting on the NG QA team to approve it before it can go out. All companies will continue to innovate and NG and ourselves are no different. The XR1000 went through months of beta testing by users, it wasn't just thrown together. The other XR routers are being worked on but it is a lot of work porting it to different router architectures. I can assure you they will all receive it. If magic wands could be used I’m sure Netduma would , I myself swapped to the XR700 from 500 and to be honest mine works perfectly ,so basically I do not see what the big issue is with 3.0 as I bet most XR700 users routers work fine. Mobel
7 hours ago, Killhippie said: As you can see from what Fraser said the XR700 router is now END OF LIFE so after 3.0 if it even gets that it will have no more updates from Netgear or Netduma as it is not in production, basically the AX1000 is the official replacement for the XR700. On Amazon as well as the price having been dropped to clear old stock and it states there is a newer model available as you can see in the link below. So The XR700 wont even get security updates after its final patch which may or may not be 3.0 who knows patch. Here is the Amazon UK link showing the AX1000 as the newer item for replacing the XR700. Sorry guys its bad when this happens but newer tech always replaces old and you bought the router as it was and it had no promise on the packaging for 3.0 so if do get that as a final patch be thankful, but also be aware your router will become a security risk as it no gets security patches, I'm not even sure it will get plex updates as a EOL device. In all fairness even my router is having a v2 revision in the new year and will need replacing (RAX120) its having a newer CPU added for wave 2 AX features, this is just life and you 'You pays yer money and you takes yer chances' Nothing is future proof. https://www.amazon.co.uk/NETGEAR-XR700-100EUS-Nighthawk-Gaming-Router/dp/B07GZ138X8 I didnt buy a 2018 router for €400 to buy another one after 2 years. I strongly doubt it they will stop supporting a 2 years old router (XR700 came out sep/oct 2018) and if so then the train stops here for me because other manufacturers support their products for many years after it comes out. Then why even give us the option to use that font size. Looks like almost censorship, but ok. Then why even tell us to sign up for the beta from your CEO. I'm just tired of the lies okay. Like you're saying, the R2 is optimized for it. So you telling us that the XR700 is over $500 router with better spec can't handle it. But the R2 $150 can and has high priorities. Normally NG supports a few security updates once a router reaches its end of life. Other manufactures stop quicker, some support their products longer. im in the same boat, My RAX120 is due to have the updated chipset so it will be a V2 version and I would not be surprised to see a few security updates then that’s it for my version of the 120. With NG that’s how they operate and I’ll change it. It’s a $500 router but it’s how the cookie crumbles. I could keep it and run the risk of security and I know there will be features missing that the V2 will have but that’s routers and we are moving quickly into wifi6 and the advanced chipsets that offer more features. I took the move to have a early WiFi 6 router, you took the step to have an ageing router due to spec. I hope the beta arrives on the XR700 but I feel it’s reached it’s EOL due to sales, it was priced to high for its spec and the XR500 was better positioned. the other issue is that router is a 2016 device. It’s based on the R9000 which was released in 2016. The XR700 is that router but a different case and software but the hardware is old. Yes it was released in 2018 but it was old tech. The R9000 was EOL earlier this year so we knew what was coming.

Yes It’s frustrating not to get the beta as quickly as the other routers and all being well you will receive 3.0. Netduma and Netgear are in partnership and probably took the route of what router is the most popular and went from there and it may also be easier on the code on that router. To be fair the text was rather large, I’m sure you got your point across.

Actually its £248 on Amazon so not much more than a XR500, the price drop is to get rid od old stock. Its the same as buying a top end TV, the following year new features come out and your TV looks old fashioned spec wise, but you don't spend say £2000 a year to keep up your TV up to date and after a year they also stop making your model as the new model comes in, tech moves forward. As Newfie has pointed out the XR700 is based on a four year old PCB the R9000 was also not a great seller back in its day, research helps but its down to what makes a company money, and 802.11ad didn't take off, that was an added expense to manufacture, the routers ended up I imagine sitting in warehouses not being sold at the same rate as the XR500, hence the fire sale to get rid of the old stock which means a loss for Netgear and hence the XR700 being made EOL. Its life, it happens to us all. Not all Netgear routers have such a short life, the R7800 is still being sold four years later and still supported even though its just security updates as it has a full feature set. Its probably one of Netgear's bets sellers, like the R7000. You just got unlucky as it wasn't a great seller by the looks of it and its not Netduma's fault its just business.
