nothing to see here, routers reboot themselves for a laundry list of reasons...if it was a major concern Iain would look into it...but it isn't

I think it is a concern because it isn't normal for the Netduma to reboot.

I think when Fraser/Iain checks the threads tomorrow, maybe they could schedule a 1on1 with Clinton to find the problem because the settings getting wiped has been happening for a while now.

Were you streaming (i.e. Netflix or Twitch)?  Because it may be an issue with how the duma handles large amounts of data in conjunction with our other devices be it modems and routers.  This is the only time I have issues is when I streaming Netflix for an extended amount of time.

Maybe the update inwhich they increase the amount of data the R1 can handle with improve this.  Has anyone else noticed when streaming?

I can indeed say that the R1 currently can't handle large amounts of data, for example streaming. If you reboot it seems to fix the problem for awhile. It must be a leak or some bug in the system. It only seems to happen after the router has been on for a few days without a reboot. Honestly a router shouldn't need a reboot but I understand that this is a custom device… Hopefully a fix will be out soon.

Dude that is one of the DUMBEST post I have ever read. A modem should never reboot, a switch should never reboot, a ROUTER should never reboot. They are built to be solid if CONFIGURED correct. The only reason something like that should reboot is if you update, change something, or reboot it YOURSELF.

Honestly it sounds like a power spike issue. I haven't heard mine reboot itself but hey everyones router is in a  different environment. From reading this post of the creators of the DUMA I would have to suspect this it does not have an auto reboot feature for over heating. Something like that should power down not reboot if its over heating.

commercial grade modems, routers, and switches don't reboot themselves...100% true...

This is a consumer grade product, there is likely one of the items you listed...but only Fraser and Iain know the duma codebase on the firmware side, which is where the issue would be.

As a side note: even some high end OpenWRT routers reboot themselves (or need to).

But if that's the dumbest thing you've seen, i'm happy for you... "_"

Yeah not many posts tickle my pickle but when you talk technology yes. How about a correction, defiantly the dumbest post I have read on this site.

Another correction, the duma is "Commercial Grade" when it went to market. Dude stop posting before I get another post deleted.

no, there is consumer grade (the duma)

and commercial or enterprise grade (normally 1U in rack)

It is custom firmware built off a solid foundation, i'm sure it involves packet throughput or something to that end (possibly wireless driver)...I say this because I don't have this issue as the duma is just sitting between my consoles and doesn't do anything except geo-filtering on my network

Brainstorming a little bit:

It may be a overheating issue but it doesn't seem like the router is being over worked by anything you are doing.  How many devices do you have connected?  Is your router connected to a power strip that may be getting overloaded?

Also, since there is no password protection you don't think there is anyone else in your home that may be accessing the router interface and rebooting it do you?

You may need to do a factory reset to see if it a bug that you may be able to clear but I would leave that to my last resort.

Hope this helps.  Maybe one of the administrators may have some suggestions.

Hey Buck

I currently have 7 devices connected to the duma, also the powere is connected straight to the wall. Also no one was home when it happened again so I can definitely say it rebooted itself. Also the main things I do is watch netflix, youtube and gaming nothing major.

Also I have done a factory reset each time only to have the problem re occur again.

Are you using the wireless functions of the R1 or do you have another router connected to the R1 for wireless functions.  If you do have a router (i.e. Netgear) connected make sure the wireless function on the R1 is turned off.  Both wireless networks can cause inferference and this I believe can cause routers to reboot.

You said you have tired a factory reset how about flashing the newest update again, maybe something happened during the upgrade process. It is possible for a corrupt flash.

The netduma is the main wireless point, My modem router combo wireless is disabled.... Also I have tried to redo the update but it said it was already upgraded with the latest firmware. And wouldn't allow me to go any further with the update.... I know its a custom firmware and issues can arise but I just wanna get the issue sorted or fixed. I will just wait for Lain or fraser for a 1 on 1, to see if the issues can be fixed..

I would like to thank everyone for thier input and advice...

The newest firmware is 1.03.4. Look at the bottom of your router's page and it should tell you what firmware you are using. If you go to the router"s upgrade page it will say it has the lastest firmware when sometimes it doesn't which is being fixed. Here is a link to the correct update if you don't have it. http://wiki.netduma.com/doku.php?id=manual_update&s[]=update

I've also had this happen a few times in the last few days. And also it resets all my settings including the geo filter. I'd love to know what's going on and hopefully how to fix.

Its just rebooting on its own? Where do you have it placed, anywhere it could be overheating? E.g. on a carpet etc.

So not sure if this has been figured out yet but I'm getting a little annoyed with having to redo all my settings almost every other day. Been waiting to see if there was any info but apperently not. I like the router but if this is how it's going to be i'm not sure if i'll keep it hooked up much longer. Any info on why it reboots or even just why i lose all my settings. I can live with the reboots when i'm not gaming but having to go thru everything and set it back up all the time is a bit of a pain.

I would probably setup a one on one with one of the administrators. (i.e. Iain, Fraser, Zennon or Crossy). Sounds like an issue beyond the scope of the forum.

I'll give this a try. Thanks for the info. Hopefully it works for mine as well.

Let us know how it goes, in which case if it works for you as well we'll have to look into why enabling/disabling cookies causes this.
