sharpz44
Now I know this may have been discussed but not sure,I have the XR500 on pre order ,currently I’m using the Asus Rog rapture which is very powerfull hardware and with the latest firmware works well,I mainly play battlefield and now ufc 3,the Rog is good at setting up gaming boost and is highlighted that it’s doing so on my network map, however I am a great believer in Duma from the beginning of using R1 but it’s harware failures for me stopped me using it ,is there any Rog users that have switched,I personally think that having the controls in your hand is more intuitive than a button press on Rog,I have also used the R7800 which was excellent.so any thoughts on the Vs would be good to hear,I’m gettting XR509 no matter but was interested in opinion....cheers
BIG__DOG
It is the software that makes the R1 and XR500 what they are. Netduma are a software company and the their firmware is specifically designed for the R1 and the Nighthawk XR500. The ROG does have great hardware but it lacks the software features that the XR500 has and even the R1 such as geo filtering. Also the anti jitter feature which will be released in due course plus other features that the ROG and other routers do not have. Administrators Popular Post Netduma Fraser Posted February 15, 2018 Administrators Popular Post Share Posted February 15, 2018 DumaOS is way more streamlined, easier to use, more robust and faster. Its easier to use while still having advanced options for those that like to tinker. QoS can be exclusively automatic if you would like it to be, automatically prioritising your consoles/games (using enterprise level deep packet inspection) and then applying Anti-Bufferbloat (Anti-Flood on R1) whenever this happens or giving full speed when not playing. The Dashboard provides a one stop customisable shop for your favourite features all sharing one screen where you can change settings on the fly without going to all the different features. More indepth Network Monitor, I could go on. Of course you have the Geo-Filter as well which I don't think I need to sell to you - it's the only feature of it's kind. Also DumaOS is an actual OS so that means we can build new features & fix bugs - VERY fast. We have only just started, there is so much we plan on adding to DumaOS that it's actually crazy. bagsta69, Ivanbad, sharpz44 and 2 others

That will do,well after watching sims video that gave me a great insight into the OS,obviously I’m know about most of it having used R1,I would never get that response on small net builder forums, I’m actually loooking forward to replacing my upside down spider now with this, the Rog did reduce my ping and jitter and think XR will be same.great and thanks for the info, best part is ...only just started....compared to the Rogs just finished and thanks for your dosh ...dippy buyer....lol...... cheers Fraser... looking forward to it Netduma Fraser

Zennon
I’ve tested the Rog and it didn’t touch the Dumas congestion control or other features. N3CR0 and Netduma Fraser
sharpz44
Zennon ,that’s exactly what I was looking for someone who has compared,I’ll have to see if I can get a refund on it based on the crazy kernel logs,0800 errors and plenty of of stuff,or sell it. Cheers Zennon

Cheers I tested, game boost, traditional QOS, and user limited and they all had large spikes while I saturated the bandwidth. sharpz44
yodastoe
You should confident about the XR500. I replaced my ROG with XR500 and all the problems that the ROG could not address the XR500 is or definitely improved.. ROG was new and only 2 weeks old but I replaced it immediately. Replacing a 400$ router with this only after 2 weeks was a big deal for me and I am very happy. Just my 2 cents. I have a very heavy use of my router. sharpz44

Thank you for that information,I do feel confident but wanted to get a some user experience, yer the Rog has turned into a big upside down spider and really does not meet my requirements,I’ve had it about 5 months so will try and send it back under 1 year warranty, probs be fight with them but will be fun....lol. SocomRaised
I just bought the rog rapture to test out since my r2 has been giving my wifi issues/speed issues. I noticed it does not have geo filter, which is bad imo. Im getting put in far servers, however i feel like with the rogs gaming port the router has, I get good hit detection. I also noticed this router has a wtfast feature, but only supports very old games, none of the newer cods are on there. Anyone else have more experienced info? I have a xr500 and r2. SocomRaised
Forgot to add that I don't get my full gig speed with the r2, which does suck big time. Averahe around 600 maybe 700, and with this rog i get my 900ish.

I'd recommend signing up for Early Access https://forum.netduma.com/topic/39415-introducing-early-access/ and once approved you can try any firmware there to see if that resolves any of your issues.
