Foedus Gratiae
I keep having a bunch of unnamed or nameless devices showing up in my Device Manager. The wifi is turned off to the Netduma and the rest of it is locked down with encryption. No other devices should be joining the network. I remove them and they keep coming back. I'm confused as to what's going on. Any help would be appreciated. And by the way, as far as I know this has never happened before until the last week. Edit: additional question: since some IP addresses are showing up is there any way Netduma shows MAC addresses? I want to try and hunt down these mystery devices. Could it be anytime someone comes in with a device that is actively searching for wifi networks even if they are secure networks? Would the Duma be holding this for some reason? That wouldn't make sense since they shouldn't even be having IP addresses assigned... Talking out loud a bit.
PharmDawgg
After deleting the devices go under Settings>Miscellaneous and select Reboot and reboot the router. You can only delete dormant devices. They should be permanently deleted by doing this.

bagsta69
Are they wireless or wired, as to where they have come from, only you and the people using your network know that. Check the ip addresses. Try blocking them and see if a teenager bursts into the room and throws a tantrum. lol

I've tried checking the IP addresses, but nothing comes up in the browser. Any other ways to trace an IP? Thanks.

Any other ways to trace an IP? Thanks. http://192.168.88.1/cgi-bin/devices.sh or http://192.168.88.1/cgi-bin/dhcplease.sh That link assumes your R1 IP address is still 192.168.88.1... But it will give you a list of the devices connected with their MAC addresses I figure you know how to look up MAC addresses
e38BimmerFN
Ensure that you have host name values entered into on each device. The handshaking between the router and devices will look at host name values, if the value is not filled it, or empty or not one available, unknown will be reported by the router. Some devices may not have a host name feature.
PharmDawgg
Now I will say this the same device with show up twice if you were to use it wirelessly and change it over to being used wired or vice versa. Hope this makes sense.
major masingil
I have done that. They came back. And I guess the bigger issue is what are they are where have they come from! Go into >Misc. Settings >DCHP Lease and get the MAC Address info for your unnamed devices. Then you can do a MAC Lookup and get some clues as to what those devices are. http://www.macvendors.com/ http://forum.netduma.com/topic/17069-tired-of-nameless-devices-on-your-network-use-this/
fuzzy clam
It's always to list your devices on your flower (sign names) to the devices that way you know exactly what is what in device manager. Also if you have a laptop and sometimes use it wired and sometimes use it wireless it will list these as a separate devices and assign 2 different IP's. And remember anyone that uses your network with a smart phone, tablet etc will come up as nameless device,I don't know if you have kids but if their friends come over and use your network thru the smart phone it will show up on your device manager. And I've deleted them before and they've come back also for no reason but usually a reboot from misc and deletion fixes the issue. But I'd want to find out what and who the devices belong to if they aren't yours. Foedus Gratiae
Any update on this? Was it malware? Nothing definitive yet. I removed some junk from one computer, so I'll have to wait and see. Every day after deleting and rebooting I see at least 3-5 new unnamed/nameless devices.
e38BimmerFN
I'd go thru all devices you have and input a host name for each device that your able to enter in a unique host name value.

I have. It is clearly something else. Every time I delete them (and reboot) they are back. And they are using bandwidth. Not a ton, but they are active in the network monitor. If I don't delete I block and new ones still populate...
e38BimmerFN
I would go thru each device and turn them all OFF or start by turning one at a time off and reviewing what appears in the list and see if you can find the devices that are using up bandwidth.
