I'm currently out of contract with BT phoned them up yesterday for a better deal all they offered me was 5 quid a month off and a new router.  Looking at our bill the prices just keep going up and up and it's like they give you the middle finger to long serving customers 4yrs, so i'm going to return their customer care for another provider.

Looking around talktalk are doing a faster fibre up 76mb for £32 a month including free phone line rental and free hardware not that i need it guranteed for 24 months no price hike.

Very tempted to pull the trigger with a £25 month saving over BT.

If anyone here is with talktalk some small feed back would be appreciated i presume its still a BT line from cabinet?

I pay £32 a month with TalkTalk, I do not use their crappy router and I suggest you do not either.

A HG612 Hauwei modem from Ebay is your best bet, make sure its flashed with the latest FW compatible with G.inp

For me no jitter, 76mb and it is an absolute pleasure to game on.

Use the TT hub and you will likely see jitter issues I am afraid.

the problem with the likes of virgin, bt, talktalk and sky is they have a very high subscriber base. i lesser known company like IDnet which I use or others like them such as zen internet will be far better than the larger over subscribed companies. you have a ping of 7 and a good download and upload rate, you arent gonna get much better than that by switching.

Thanks Z handy to know already have the flashed HG612 with G.imp.

Yeah BD i looked at IDnet  which package did you go for?

i went for the gaming package with traffic priority. I didn't need to get a new modem as i have an asus dsl ac68u and all i had to do was setup with username and password. I also loved that they offered the netduma with the package if i wanted it (for an additional cost). I have only just switched over but so far it is performing better than BT.

Please show me proof that they are oversubscribed BD :)

Jitter would be sky high if they were as it would be saturated bandwidth causing ISP bufferbloat.

he he, well you know i can't :)  just my opinion :)  I have read about it and it is not over subscription of the network but down to the exchange. just what i have read as i aint no expert!

Please show me proof that they are oversubscribed BD :)

Hehe just friendly banter :)

Some places can be over subscribed though but it is rare nowadays unlike back in the 8mb days.

I have that package too, their hub was causing spikes so I replaced it with that same modem.

Ping went down from 30ms to 7ms overnight to the IW dedi. Mmm, smooth.

Couple of days on talktalk now all seems good just wondering from the ping plotter guru's how things are in the image i did a 2.5 interval for an hour.

Looking to be 1ms jitter at worse. Nice :)

Thanks Zen, was hoping you would chime in  :D

Your graph only looks a bit lumpy because your ping is so low, the biggest 'spike' only takes you up to (nearly) 8ms.

In reality it's a very flat line, looks much like mine, and thus smooth gaming.

Cheers Boom played some cod and BF1 last night and both felt nice and smooth. Was mulling over IDnet but couldn't justify the price very happy with TT same speeds as i had with bt and a smoother line for 25 quid a month less  B)
