ColonicBoom
You should probably test your line, over ethernet, straight from your modem to a computer. I test mine with Ping Plotter.
loopylinney
i have tested the ping but the ping is random, one minute it is at 24ms the next it is at 256ms
loopylinney
i seem to be losing connection to the duma recently today, this morning it was all fine and then all of a sudden it was struggling to keep to under 80ms. my installations are stopping on my xbox and i lag on almost every online game i play, whether it would be MWR or Rocket League. it just doesnt make any sense that the duma would all of a sudden just lose connection. **UPDATE** my download speed is now 3mbps and then dropping and then stopping the download. Dillinger
loopy - It is not necessary to start multiple threads, this will only delay the response to your issue(s) and others on the board. I have merged the two threads here. As indicated above, the best bet would be download (www.pingplotter.com) and perform (2) sets of tests. One set during the core hours, like when your neighbors are home and using the internet, and one during off-peak hours, like when everyone is asleep and the network is quiet. I would personally recommend making these individual tests at least a half hour in length and make the update every 30 seconds or so, this will yield much more information upon review. loopylinney
yes but this will only give me the ping, but i know that the ping is high, it has random lag spike when i play most games
bagsta69
yes but this will only give me the ping, but i know that the ping is high, it has random lag spike when i play most games Pingplotter will give you more than just your ping. If you post up the results of the tests you have been advised to do people on the forum here will be able to tell if you have a bad connection due to your ISP etc, also if you are suffering from jitter and numerous other issues which could be affecting your gaming. Lag spikes can be caused by numerous issues and pingplotter can rule out or confirm several very important ones. So please if you could run it as advised it would be most helpful for us who are trying to help you. Cheers.
iAmMoDBoX
yes but this will only give me the ping, but i know that the ping is high, it has random lag spike when i play most games Exactly which points to your ISP being the problem
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 5, 2017 Administrators Share Posted January 5, 2017 If you have tested directly to the modem and you're getting huge ping spikes like that then definitely indicates a line issue. If you haven't then you'll first need to do that to rule that out as a potential issue.
Zennon
Download from Here Type twitter.com into the target and press go it will plot and show if there is any packet loss or jitter. Let the test run for 30 mins say during peak time 7pm ish this is the time an ISP would be under most strain. You can test directly from your ISP modem/router and from the netduma while not using the internet, only the test. If your ISP is fine you could test while using the internet in tandem with congestion control to see how well CC is working as you lower the percentage sliders (with your bandwidth set up first) Press : file, save image and share the plot with us so we can advise
