jwiggs40
I would like to thankall of you who really took the time out and invested time to help me with my issues. Finally , Fraser took over and fixed my settings. Question I have is that he switched me from NY new york to another state. The reasoning was that I was surrounded by a lot of oceans?. How does this affect me with a different location and not my real one. I would like to be back in NY and playing games with people from that area if possible. Can i change my area back and if i do , will it cause me issues? Thankjs again all
abc123
I would need to know your original issue, my assumption is that half your geofilter was in the ocean and you had the size set too small...like under 1000 miles. So if you want 100 miles, and want to be in NY you will need to set it to 200 miles so that you get double the land area (half your circle is always in ocean)
jwiggs40
i had too many original issues. lol. Ok, Fraser set it that way and I did not know if I can return to original which i want. It was in NY orginally and I had it on a distance of 1900 miles, he changed it to a different state. Doesnt that defeat the whole purpose or am i missing something. Also too he changed my congestion control back to 100 , 100 when it was set to 70, 70. Whats the difference
abc123
Your location doesn't matter that much, it just limits you to the circle generated...it doesn't try to prioritize closeness to the center or anything, and ping assist goes off ping which is always real and doesn't change based on the home location. 70/70 congestion control will get you better bufferbloat control and will keep you from lagging if something else is happening on your network (youtube, streaming, hitting a website, downloading a file)
cranium2001
Think of yourself on the edge of a cliff (Atlantic Ocean). If you head east there's nothing there. If you head west that's where all the action is. You're better off centering yourself in the action and reaching out in every direction. I live in NY and make my home SW Ohio. It fits me and my group best that way.
jwiggs40
Ok cool guys , thanks . iI am upstate NY Orange County. How can i actually tell if i am seeing real results that are noticeable , ithink?
abc123
I think you are confused, it is literally just moving you to make the circle all in land (this will make you get games faster and easier...now you might get some more lag but it isn't super likely. Netduma Staff Netduma Jack Posted September 16, 2016 Netduma Staff Share Posted September 16, 2016 You can configure the Geofilter the way you want, but just keep in mind that its job is to filter the games you connect to. Since there aren't games in the sea, you're better off setting the Geofilter home in-land a bit. That will lead to more hosts being available; but you'll need to adjust your distance and ping assist accordingly if you start to get put into bad games. In short, I'm sure Fraser did it to solve your original issue; I wouldn't change it too much
fuzzy clam
Just to add to the above info...probably no reason to move your home location back to NY,I'm sure Fraser set it up that way for a reason. That being said if you want to move your home location back do you know how to do it ? If you don't on your host filtering page just click on the little hope icon under strict mode and move it to where you want it,then just click it again to set it to that location.Don't be afraid to move it around, all over the country for that matter, just because your closer to a dedi bank doesn't always mean that's going to give you a better game. I know you've struggled with the setup but the more you mess around with it and learn about it and keep checking out the forums the more you'll learn and then it won't be so confusing or aggravating. Lots of people willing to help you out
jwiggs40
Thank you but i have a whole new set of issue going on . By the way, thansk agin. O.k when i go to xbox settings and do a multiplayer connection test i am getting only 57.17MBPS and uploads of 19.36 mbps and latency of 104 ms with a packet loss of 1 percent. Whenever i do my speedtest. i get over 220 MBPS and 20 uploads with a ping of 19-20ms Only once did i see a detailed network result on the xboxone come close to my speedtest results which was yesterday. Fraser remotley looked at my settings and made some adjustment and everything appeared good. Now today i am seeing different things happening. How is it possible I am losing 80% of my speeds? I now feel like when i am playing I am dying extremley fast in Destiny and my shots are not registering fully. I have a green bar . All of a sudden everything seems like its hitting me much harder and takes me to do more damage to them. http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/563929468. Please help, if it aint one thing . its another with this router. I dont know what , but i feel like something is bogging it down. Also, i am downloading 2k17 through the xbox but when i was not dowmloading it , it still felt the same way

nffcbaz72
Make sure you congestion control settings are back to 100% when speed testing, and hard wired is best.
jwiggs40
they were on 100% when Fraser changed my settings. i was def hard wired.
Slipknot31286sic6
U shouldn't ever get full download speeds on Xbox. I know ps4 caps all downloads at 6MB on a good day. Avg is 3-4. I have 12MB per second downloads. Never see that but on Nvidia site downloading drivers.

Also yesterday when i tested on the xbox , i had one result where i had my full speeds but it never went back there only that once. So, that tells me i can achhieve close to full speeds on xbox. By me seing that and then seeing it drop drastically it made me think something is wrong
Slipknot31286sic6
If u achieve full speeds on Xbox I'll be shocked. No way Microsoft would allow your full speeds. It'd cripple their network just like Psn. I'd do more research on this yourself. I know this is biggest psn complaint. They cap at like 40 Meg down and will varies. U never achieve full downloads. All based on their server. As any server in usa
