faulko
Hi All A small request to help resolve why the Dumas WiFi for no reason drops out and looses all connections, cable connections are unaffected. Can not reconnect, devices simply say unable to join or password not correct even thou i haven't touched anything.A reboot seems to solve the issue and the wifi could be up for 1 min or 2 days, its very random, changed channels plenty of times with each reboot, nothing seems to stay right. Zennon
You have been around for a long time faulko so I am guessing you have unticked the WiFi workaround or changed the security mode already?

Walk around and security is default, never touched them. Only changed the channel re entered password, restart then it works again. I'm not in front of pc for a few days, so I'll have another fiddle when I get home.
konvict
I've had this too, try a factory reset, that relieved my problem.

Yep done that many times, and yes the wifi stays up longer then just a restart, but it always comes back. Got the Mrs to change the security to something else so we will see how that goes. Seems odd for a not very old unit, my first Duma unit never had this trouble.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted September 5, 2016 Administrators Share Posted September 5, 2016 Change the security mode to PSK2. Some users find that having wireless devices near the router can cause a drop out so if changing security mode doesn't work try moving wireless devices away from the R1. Somethings wrong with the WiFi thou as i just recently found out the Mrs iphone never drops WiFi, she is the only 1 that doesn't drop.
Zennon
Have you looked to see if the WiFi workaround is unticked in misc settings? If it is ticked untick it and reboot from misc settings. WPA-PSK2 works well for me and many others.

Do you mean things like a cordless landline Fraser? Or any wireless receiver, like an iPad for example? I'm just curious because I remember this suggestion from a while back and I meant to ask back then but didn't.

faulko
Still dropping out for no reason. No one is near the unit, unless they are walking past.Sometimes 1 person could be on wifi and everything else has nothing, and today it booted everyone.Odd that my sons xbone 1 always seems to be the one that goes first. Zennon
We see where customers are having WiFi drop outs at home we do a call out and its congested WiFi channel so this is why I suggest finding the lest congested channel available. Android phones can run farproc's WiFi analyzer.
faulko
dont have an android device sorry or a jail broken iphone.Honestly ive tried nearly all the channel and its the same on all.If i look at wifi's avail on my devices i can see 4 other wifi's with in range, and knowing the folks around me id say the lot of their devices would be default. Is it possible the duma itself is too wifi congested. too many devices at once, xbone, playstation, 2 laptops, at least 4 iphone devices can be going at 1 time. Because it only drops out when 1 kid is on the xbone, i think, but im seeing a pattern.
UK_Wildcats_Fans
I had weird wifi issues too. I often have a ton of people at my house that are all on wifi. With just the single band wifi, it would often get congested and be very slow or stop working. I thought that my issues were associated with the number of people on the band. Therefore, I bought a dual band access point and disabled the Netduma wifi. Siince then, I have very rare occassional issues (aka 1-2 times per month) that are easily resolved by a router reboot. Zennon
Is WiFI turned off in your ISP router? It needs to be. Have you set a MTU up in the Duma? if so change it back to auto. Have you turned off UPnP in your ISP router? Also power off all devices , reboot the Duma and one by one switch on the devices. Maybe DHCP is giving the same IP address out too two or more devices making the connection drop.

The wifi dropped out again this morning, whilst we all Sleep. 1 thing I've noticed is if i change channels and just hit apply, no restarting, everyone is back online again. Zennon
Ok , how long is it staying on with no reboot?
faulko
Totally random Zennon. Never really timed it but factory reset lasts the longest, max 2 days, then normal reset can be up to 2days. Yeah I'm kind of lost now, ive tried all 11 channels now and they all drop out eventually. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted September 12, 2016 Administrators Share Posted September 12, 2016 Just having read back in the thread I'm not sure if you changed the WiFi workaround or not but try that. Otherwise post in the 1 on 1 section with dates/times you're available and I can take a look.
