i want a new headset

mike

Recommended Posts

Zennon turned me on to a pair of Sony open backed MDR MA900's and they sound 10X's better than the 2013 Astro a40's they replaced.

I had not purchased the Phillips x2's then, if you are ever in the market for a new pair the x2's blow everything ive tried out of the ball park, imaging, sound stage, positioning, its like being there.

Hearing is believing.

wtf is a "mod mic" , i know iv asked but i fear the answer as i think that will take me down a whole new road ..........

It's a mic that you can put of your cans in case you don't want a "gaming headset"

They are really nice and easy to set up and attach to your cans,as well as being pretty cheap IMO

What they like compared to the ad700, also what have you paired them with ,amp/dac, I own a few cans ,steel H,ad700,At PG1,Samsung SR850(surprisingly good for the price),also been through all the high gaming headsets,a40tr,tritton katana HD ,elite800 etc ,,,,those were bad

While being old has it's disadvantages in reaction times as well as the stigma of untrustworthiness to the young folks; there are certain benefits to being in your prime earning years...what I lack in coordination and reaction I may be able to supplement with gear!  There must have been 100 times so far that I've thought thank you Zen for if it wasn't for these cans I would not have heard what I needed to hear.

edit just checked amazon   they're 70$ off at the moment...

I have the Phillips x2, Denon D7000, Sony ma900, Audio Technica m50 (for djing) and the Beyerdynamic T1.

I have a little dot tube amp.

The Phillips blow the TOL T1 & D7000 for gaming , nowhere near for music but for gaming a different level the sound stage and depth are perfect for Dolby surround.

Might give them a look then,as was looking at getting the Byerdynamics DT880 32ohms to go with mixamp as there easy to drive, might just get both and test them, how long was the burn in on those x2 ,if you noticed.

Cheers

Sounded good out of the box, burn in doesn't exist, brain getting used to the headphone does exist though.

Lol....forget to add, what's the bass like ,few reviews on hed-fi say there a bit bassy but think they were referring to bass heavy music and not gaming

They have good slam, you do not need any EQ on the mix amp, sounds good flat.

Cheers I'll give them a go, thing that annoys me is the lack of all in ones like mixamp on the market for gaming, turtle beach TAC is the latest equivalent but appently sounds bad.shame really ,been looking at creative X7 and figuring out a way to get chat going through it

People bash the mix amp and I just do not get it, I like head-fi audio and to my ears the mix amp is quality, I have heard shit audio and the mix amp is not shit.

It can power my 600ohm beyers with ease.

X2's a better pick than the Dt-880's better bang for the buck, they sound more than their price, and for gaming wow.

Philips Fidelio X2 and Sound Blaster X7 LE here, never going back to anything else.

Only issue is X2's are open headphones so everyone hears what you hear, other than that, they are the best headphones for gaming.
