gjziborgj
Im from San Diego California and since I only have these 3 internet services in my area available, i would like to know which one is fiber and the best for gaming.
PharmDawgg
Your best bet out of the three would probably be AT&T uverse. Wait for some other replies though.
Zennon
I am from the UK and dont know which is fibre, but pick fibre over cable as cable inherently has jitter which is a game killer.
major masingil
I'm with Buck. If those are your choices, I would go with Uverse. I however live on the east coast and have never used uverse so take it with a grain of salt
Alex49H
I switched from Cox cable to AT&T last March and haven't looked back! AT&T is more stable for gaming and I am loving my experience compared to the 11 years of gaming on Cox service that was so rage inducing. You actually have to check with each of those companies to see if they have fiber in your area. But fiber is best compared to cable. Of not DSL with AT&T. UK_Wildcats_Fans
I am from San Diego as well. Areas of San Diego are either TWC or Cox for Cable with AT&T as their alternative for now. TWC has recently been upgrading their system to get rid of all analog and go completely digital. I personally have TWC with the expanded 300/20 internet package. Most of the time, the connect is good, but there is definitely jitter and times of congestion. I am not certain on which ones offer Fiber though. You may be better off getting a dedicated DSL line strictly used for gaming, which will provide less jitter and better connection quality. You can then have the rest of the house using your normal internet provider. Google Fiber is currently in the planning process for San Diego. See the link below. https://fiber.google.com/cities/sandiego/
fuzzy clam
I also switched from cable ( which is the worst IMO) and went to AT&T and the difference is night and day...both gaming wise and when I run ping plotter and other tests to check my line. I would highly recommend going AT&T if that is your best option,I would go fiber first and cable last as it has just been one huge pain in the ass in my experience. The nodes are always overloaded and it's to dependent to what your neighbors are doing on their network. This is just my experience and opinion
SM961
I would go with Uverse much more clearer signal and for bufferbloat is excellent and if don't mind the data cap give them a try.
Spartacus
I've been pretty happy with U-Verse - the service has been consistently stable for me and the I get the promised bandwidth a majority of the time. With some tuning using the R1 (primarily adjusting for congestion control), my bufferbloat and other results look fantastic! While I've flirted with the idea of switching to Time Warner, I've not seen a compelling enough reason to switch yet - pricing for both are roughly the same in my case. Also, we're expecting rollout of AT&T's GigaPower service in my area within the next quarter. I understand AT&T is also expanding this service in several other major cities, so that is another major factor in favor of U-Verse in my opinion.
