brutus209
At least with your netduma (even if your situation is not ideal) and I do believe if you keep playing with the settings you will sort it all out, you have some control over your connection. When you leave it up to the game you can bet on being put in with the South Americans every time or worse.
Dillinger
So this appears to have connected you to a local server (to you) that you have rated as acceptable. Are you hoping to have a local server with only local players?
fakkel
But what is the problem? Do almost all your games feel unfair and do you have a hard time killing people even though you know they should have gone down? If that is the problem then the Geo-Filter might not be enough?! If people would just take me seriously.

Freyja
no not local players since my local consists of the islands and SA. I just dont understand why my geo filter doesn't work. if i put it over there with zero ping assist then it should connect me to those servers and block the rest right? I believe that 'sparkley' or 'dashed' circle means that the host has been rated as 'good' to play on. You will need to change your rating of it if you want to block it. If it is rated in the green then it will not be blocked.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted June 12, 2016 Administrators Share Posted June 12, 2016 Hey, welcome to the forum! What ping are you getting to a typical game as shown by the duma? Do you have both yours and your husbands consoles enabled on the duma at the same time? If so only have the party leaders Geo-filter enabled and the others disabled. In settings > miscellaneous, click apply on cloud settings. For the Geo-filter put the location North of Florida, so you encompass all land. At least 1000km. Strict on & PA 0. Freyja
well I have had the area up in the northern part of the usa. Our ping fluctuates from 30 ping to sometimes 128 ping. we turned the ping assist off and have an area of 1200km. We turned the strict mode off and now we are getting the connections that we are wanting. I have worked on computers and diagnosed problems but this duma made no sense to me. To me I would think strict mode would be that it HAS to adhere to the settings very strictly. However with that mode off it seems to be the best it has been. So right now I am biting my tongue
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted June 14, 2016 Administrators Share Posted June 14, 2016 Strict on does keep it within your radius yes, as long as PA is 0. That's the thing, what may work for some people doesn't work for others. The beauty of the duma is you have the opportunity to find what works best for you. I would make sure ALL devices are connected to the duma so you can make use of congestion control. Put anti-flood to 70/70.
Freyja
I have made sure all is connected and have tried more settings but everytime we get connect to south america and it is NOT in the radius... and it is set with 0 PA. we have it with a radius of 1100km and it doesn't include any of South America. When we get people from there it always goes in favor of them and the match is laggy and horrid. They are even included when no other person in the game is in a group so we can't blame the grouping option on them being in there. so strict mode off and on does not work. I have not messed with the ping assist since you all told me to set it to zero. i wait 5 minutes even after changing something before i load into a game and i still get nothing... makes no sense... Hi Freyja, 1 -Are you actually connecting to South America, where the host is in South America? - in that case it would be a player host as they have no dedi's; and the player host could be blacklisted so they wouldn't host you again. 2 - Or are you connecting to a server in the US (for example Florida, If i remember correctly that is where you are from), and the problem is that south american's are connecting to your Florida (or other) US server. I just to make sure that i'm understanding exactly what the issue is. Thus far what i think you are saying is that you are probably having problems with option 2 - other countries connecting to the server you are on. Netduma Staff Netduma Jack Posted June 21, 2016 Netduma Staff Share Posted June 21, 2016 If you're actually connecting to a host in South America? If so then strict is definitely off and needs to be on to prevent that. If we know the distinction above that would help us further diagnose the exact issue. b00stg0d
If I were you I would try setting my filter over the Dallas servers. I have a friend that games with us on the regular and the entire reason we met him is because he Lives in Florida, Miami area and cannot connect to his dedis without every lobby containing players from PR, South America and with their terrible connections they are receiving the benefits of lag compensation as Activision intended. So he plays in Dallas. You will see players with the yield sign from Mexico maybe 1 or 2 in every 3-4 lobbies but they are not piling into the lobby as your screenshots show form that great of distance so the lag comp doesn;t seem to effect most players. Try it. He is on Comcast. I hope this helps. If you want I can tell you his exact setup. Another thing, with such low upstream speed be very aware of what else is using your bandwidth while you both game. It doesn;t take much to game for sure BUT if you have less of a bandwidth threshold then ANY major usage even if brief can effect you more greatly. That is the ONLY reason it helps to have higher bandwidth to compensate for extra traffic or local congestion. Another thing is to find out where you are geolocated within the game. As well as using ping plotter to see what Routing your ISP actually uses vs. what seems logical. ISP will buy routes based on level3 carriers and the cheapest option for their amount of bandwdith needs as well as backhaul to their major hub not your closest major Fabric. When you get ping plotter let it trace/ping routing to akamai, they handle the CDN for PSN gaming at least for bo3. It should be a default option in the drop down menu of addresses/hosts to ping/trace.
Slipknot31286sic6
They have everything wrong. That'd problem. Remember anti cheat. Set home in Georgia. Put 300 miles. Strict mode. 30 ms ping. Then unplug router. Modem for at least 5 mins. If u jus change settings and not do this your settings Will Never Work. Hope this helps. My friend is in Florida we had to do this because he was having same issue as you. Worked like a charm. Plays on Atlanta or Illinois server. No problems. Also do 90/90 for cc. Hindering ur connection is dumb and placebo affect. Also go to hyperlane and put in 3074 udp source destination.

You don't need to turn off the router or modem for 5 minutes when making settings changes, that's false. 70/70 anti-flood would be recommended and XBL/PSN service includes 3074
Slipknot31286sic6
So you don't have to turn off router to change geo location. To camp a dedicated server if its not by you? Or did things change recently as others were saying to do this too because of anti cheat. I have a dedi in my backyard so it's no issue for me but that'd be nice to know for ppl I play with especially in Florida where it's a joke cuz of Puerto Rico. Change your location and all you need to do is wait 2 minutes for the map to clear completely and then anti-cheat will not take affect anymore. That didn't change recently,it's never been that way. You might want to check the WIKI / Knowledge base to learn how to use the duma properly...
