Urge
Lately there have been many different complaints about the R1 not working properly or even being tired of lag. It's become a common theme at times. So I would like to tell a little story. This story is not meant to target or insult anyone here; but it does address what I believe is not the issue for everyone but for some. If offense is taken then the offended probably suffers from this particular issue. We'll start the story of by saying the man isn't actually named Brady. But is a real life friend of mine. For years the day would start the same. We would get a story about how he's been beasting every lobby he had been in. But throughout the night we never saw that. He probably about broke even on kills to deaths on an average. That is perfectly fine because it's about playing with friends and not what their k/d is. The problem is that every day there was relentless complaining the entire night. Complaining about how he was getting cheated and complaining about lag. We all experience that "second behind feeling" at times. But with him it was all of the time and all night. We listened to it all through MW2 and then on through Black Ops 1 and onward to MW3. While looking through stats casually one day we noticed his accuracy was extremely bad and naturally assumed that was a large part of his issue. I took the time to go back into theater and watch a match that he was particularly angry in. In this match i watched from both his view point and free flow camera so i could see everything that was really going on. What i found didn't really suprise me. There was no lag. There was no one cheating him. He just literally had no map awareness - completely not seeing the enemy or flat out missing them in his gun fights. This prompted me to do something that maybe I shouldn't have - but i made a montage of his game play and exactly what was happening. It became a good laugh for some. But that wasn't the point of it. He saw this video and didn't get mad. But did quit complaining as much for quite some time after it was shown the problem was him and not the game. Of course the complaining eventually started again. The purpose of this story is just to get the wheels turning. As we've stated in the past - there are definitely internet issues - being jitter or whatever. There is a great staff in this community to help everyone with a problem get sorted out - especially when there really is a problem. What no one can do however is fix a problem when it lies within the gamer themselves. When an individual complains about having great test results - there probably isn't really a problem. When a player has a high K/D and complains that it should be higher or that they should play like a youtuber - there probably isn't a real problem. It's all in attitude and thinking you're better than what you probably really are. Again, this isn't meant to insult anyone. And if anyone really has a problem the team will gladly help out. There have been many users who are experiencing a better gaming experience due to the help they receive and the benefits of the router. The one thing that no one can help is a bad attitude. That was Brady's issue and what i feel is really the issue of others from what I'm seeing. Only the user can fix that problem. Perhaps a small break is needed. Perhaps they just really need to realize that their stats don't matter and there is no point in getting upset and trying to find any excuse to blame it on. I hope all have great gaming experiences. And to those with true problems, I hope all get those sorted. To those good players (or any player) that just suffers from an ego and attitude issue; i personally don't feel sorry for you when you complain that you should be a 5 k/d player. I only feel sorry for the people you party with that have to hear that crap all the time. It really does get old when it's not necessary. Good gaming to all. major masingil
You're so right. If you can't at least enjoy it as a game which is intended for people to have fun; you're forced to actually get gud. Getting gud is hard, and to do it you pretty much have to be a full time player. Sometimes there is a need to call a WTF moment out, but thankfully Tron didn't actually die. You get to respawn and go get that mofo.
UK_Wildcats_Fans
Great post and perspective. I am an older gamer (47), and I do not have the eye sight, reflexes and reaction times of teens. My son, nephew and the friends constantly show me on 1v1 games. They simply love humiliating me. Here is are common phrases that you hear from me while I am watching them play. WTF are you shooting at? Sh*t, that was an enemy? How the F did you see that? There are about 2-4 enemies around that corner so be careful. (Jumps around corner) How did you kill them all so quickly? You are really going to try to capture the B flag with a sniper rifle? How can you quick scope that quickly? I have been playing COD since MW2. I have seen many people blame the game for everything. I have a friend in the middle of nowhere and the best internet that he can get is 2M download with 0.8M upload. He also has a higher ping because of the distance. He is also top of the leader board even on games where he is lagging badly. He has AWESOME aim, map awareness, and reactions. It cannot always be about lag. I have also seen videos that people posted about how the lag is real. When I slow down their clips, the aim was completely off. I also laugh at the guy using the Vesper (post nerf) to challenge an assault rifle from across a large map. He then blames the death on lag - "But I shot first". LMAO My COD experience, first I learned the basic movements so they were automatic. Then I learned to master the maps, routes, head glitches, etc. After that, I have learned which play styles work best (and don't work) for me. I then found the best class setups that work best for the situation. I am an above average player but still an older player. Unlike my son, I cannot jump (naively) into a middle of 4 enemies and somehow kill them all. When it is laggy, I play more cautiously (i.e. no rushing) and play with weapons that are faster killing (BO3 - Vesper, VMP, shotguns).

Dillinger
Great post Urge and excellent follow ups. I have to agree. I complain about getting absolutely shit on, but when I do go back to watch Theater Mode, I can see it's frequently a combination of things I could have done differently. One thing that I have noticed about a LOT of the "bullshit" deaths I get in BO3 is that the community is treating this game much differently than previous games. The Left Trigger (ADS) is the new crutch. If you watch kill cams, or if you go back through Theater Mode, you will see a lot of the time people try to rush, or move, then they get killed. This may happen a couple of times, but they INSTINCTIVELY go to a much slower, LT heavy play style about the 2nd or 3rd death and they stay that way. With the faster movements, they slide or boost between corners and head glitches, but they have LT pressed as soon as they even THINK about poking out to check the areas. And if you are moving or trying to gain an angle, they will be shooting first a lot of the engagements, usually low on your moving body. Now I firmly believe that shooting someone in the shin could be effective, it shouldn't kill you outright. They need to modify the damage to the shins/feet, because I think we all get a lot of "low fire" kills that add to frustration. I would honestly drop a couple of hundred dollars (if I had to) to get shin guards from the supply drops. I've been knocked off perfectly good streaks by piss poor aim, and that is every bit as infuriating as the death itself. I think the game has shifted styles. We saw it with Ghost. Very campy, boring play styles to get streaks that did fuck all. This game moves fast, but with that, people are playing more conservative and they love their LT. Watch some theater mode, especially over Double XP times, you will see people aren't taking as many chances in this game because of how good the "good" players can be. ColonicBoom
I'm awesome and it's obviously everyone else, not me. My aim is the BEST IN THE WORLD, I 'literally' never miss. My K/D should be like 1,000,000/1 or something! And my accuracy 2000%. Lag comp is to blame. The servers are to blame. YOU are to blame! There's a conspiracy against gamers in my town! There's a conspiracy against me! ME ME MEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! And I know my connection is awesome, I put the string between the two tin cans myself. I have super high bandwidth so I am the best. EVER! I heard that if you use a nylon string versus the standard cloth string, it will reduce your jitter by 76.85%., You will get an 95.34% increase if you use a wire instead of the string. SM961
I sometimes leave mute off just to listen who's not playing and sadly most of my team mates are on the phone, talking to somebody in the same room, cell phones, etc but they never in the game, most of the time I am carrying the team. Also if your gear is not up to date, you really shouldn't have much to say. Spend time knowing your weakness and strength as a player. I've been playing COD since 2005. My internet speed at the time was 1.5.

ColonicBoom
UK, I heard he copied and pasted those stats off of Fraser's stat list Whaaaaaaaaa!? That's libellous! Fraser copied them off me. I taught him everything he knows about the network stuff too. And Einstein stole that 'relativity' stuff from my Grandad's homework. And I taught Michael Flatley how to dance. And Casanova how to lurve. I am invincible! mmm, cider.
