Not sure what to do here...

The only reason I could think of that would result in the congestion control not working would be:

  • Super turbo mode is enabled
  • There are 1 or more devices connecting to the ISP hub/a router before the duma - either via wifi or wired.

I would double check the only ethernet cables connected to your ISP is the one connecting the ISP hub to the duma.

Ensure the wifi on that hub is definitely disabled as well.

SB6141 with a brand new ethernet cable connected directly to port 1 on the duma...

When I enable super turbo mode I have no internet access at all. So that is off... But I never had it on anyway as I only have 180/10 on my connection.

Zennon and I went through some test and he saw for himself that it basically didn't matter what settings I used, sometimes it would work and sometimes it completely ignored any settings and my ping would go crazy.

Just as a comparison, the iphone backup was running and this is what I got using my Asus router and standard QOS settings...

You can see my pings move but stay around 20ms and there are no huge spikes to 300+ms while the upload is going.

Reading through that link I think you all need to correlate your findings so something like this.

What ISP router you use

Your speeds

Firmware version

CC settings

Turbo mode on/off

Hyperlane (what device)

Device that makes the pings fluctuate etc.

To see if there is a pattern to it.

What ISP router you use- none it's my modem sb6141 right into the duma

Your speeds- 180/10

Firmware version- .6

CC settings- From my previous post you can see nothing made a difference. Surely going from 180/10 to preemptive with 70% CC  at 40/3 shouldn't make my ping spike, but it does.

Turbo mode on/off- Turbo on or off didn't matter, super turbo gives me no internet access

Hyperlane (what device)- nothing

Device that makes the pings fluctuate etc.- I can't say because sometimes a phone backup will make my ping spike, other times it won't. Sometimes an upload to youtube will make it spike, other times it won't. Same settings, different results.

I'll see if Iain can get some time to look at this directly. Make sure your router is accessible, DMZ, remote support ticked.

It's not even in use right now, I'll hook it up to my Asus and leave it.. I spoke to him yesterday he said he would look at it but I would appreciate if you could remind him. It's kinda killing me that my $20 asus is working better than the duma.

On the Asus test there is no download cap, which is why there is a spike when I hit 180 Mbps.

I just looked at the graphs. On the DUMA you are getting on average 5ms increase with a jitter of 3ms. There is no issue, that is a very good result. Please correct me if I've misread something as I haven't used that tool.

Here's a better way to show it...

Here is the netduma plugged directly into my modem with the settings shown and the results of my test and the ping spikes...

https://youtu.be/YM6V5HCFnNA

Here is my Asus with only standard upload QOS enabled and the netduma running through it to show the same ping graph, to the same server... Please note the netduma is only used here to show the difference in ping spikes. Nothing is connected through it.

https://youtu.be/4uyLmx7hdec

So besides a $20 Asus router doing a better job at suppressing the ping spikes while uploading, the netduma also completely blocks my internet connection if I turn on super turbo mode or put my bandwidth to 500/500 and let it auto configure. I do not need super turbo mode as my speed is only 180/10 however this just proves something is wrong with it. The third thing that is wrong, when I factory reset I do not get the tutorial that goes over all the router features. Two other users have claimed after a factory reset on .6 you do in fact get the intro tutorial.

So we have broken congestion control regardless of settings, super turbo mode disables my internet connection, no tutorial after a factory reset. These are the things which I have found so far and can see myself. Clearly something is wrong with the router, and who knows what other underlying issues there are besides what I'm seeing.

I've given this back over to Iain to look at again. Will give him a little nudge :)

Thank you... I would really like to be using my duma again

on game/services you have not enabled the check box below show hosts, then wait at least 2mins then run the same tests.

Can you please try with turbo off, I know speeds will be slower but can you see if it works as expected with it off.

It doesn't I've tried that already in my previous post, when I tested it with the preemptive algorithm.

Edit:

This is what I get after a fresh factory reset and putting my speed to 500/500 and letting it auto configure. Same goes if I manually configure and enable super turbo mode.

The left side is me uploading a video to youtube at 70% upload CC... The right side is me uploading a file to my web server at 70% upload CC... So why would two different uploads yield such drastic different ping spikes? The one on the right is what it should look like no matter where I'm uploading to.

For reference this is my Asus router uploading to youtube with QOS enabled...

Can you please re-upgrade to 1.03.6 with check version unticked and see if you have the same issues.

Already did that, Zennon suggested I try it. Even tried using his .6 upgrade file. Didn't make a difference

What this the average spikes you're seeing?

Post in the 1 on 1 thread and I can take a look as Iain doesn't have the time atm as he's busy on the new engine, to diagnose this properly he'd have to go back through a ton of code when it's moved on significantly since then but I'll take a look and see what's up :)

Usually it goes up to about 200ms when an upload is happening that causes spikes... Some uploads don't cause spikes
