Slicck
So I've been using this thing for a while, and it isn't bad. I live in Ontario and the servers I get are mostly from North East USA. While using the CoD Ultimate profile, I usually get 30-50 ping; wondering if I can do better than that. Upgraded my internet connection to 250/20 but sadly it doesn't make a difference while using an ethernet cable. Any device connected to my modem/router combo and the R1 gets 1/5th of the speed while the wifi from my modem/router combo gives me around 300mbps speed. Sadly there's no way I have found to be able to use my Xbox on my modem/router's wifi and still use the features of the R1 which is a shame. All in all, my hit detection has improved but if you're trying to buy this router thinking you'll get a lot more kills and keep a lot more killstreaks, it doesn't work that way. Anyone else in your lobby will still have ping in the same realm as you and I still find myself in a lot of situations where my enemy will see me before I see them around a corner and lose a gun fight. Anyway, if you guys have any tips or tricks that improved your experience with this router, don't hesitate to comment on it. Info: ISP: Rogers Speed: 250/20 Router: Rogers Rocket AC Modem/Router connected with R1 in DMZ mode Console: Xbox One Location: Ontario, Canada Profile: CoD Ultimate while gaming
iAmMoDBoX
The router can't fix a broken game, all it does is eliminate all lag/congestion on your network. To get your full speed on wifi I would suggest getting an AC router as an access point. I use the TP-Link Archer C7 and it works great for me. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted March 28, 2016 Administrators Share Posted March 28, 2016 If you're wanting to do better than that I would definitely recommend connecting all devices to the R1 so you can use the congestion control features. Getting an AC router as said above to put behind the R1 would give you great wifi speeds and still let you use the CC features. I'm not sure if there are Canadian servers or where they're located if there are some. Test out what your base ping is and set PA to ~20ms above that. cranium2001
In my opinion (and I've been using this router for over a year) the major difference you'll see in a game like COD is when you're playing p2p. The dedis have been very consistent for me thus far. The guys I play with are usually NE US and we have about 90-95% success. I still have my Duma and use it. I know soon enough it will be more relevant for you.

How would I check my base ping? Is it just the ping I see on pingtest, or is it through my internet diagnosis?
PharmDawgg
Internet diagnosis. It is the middle value. You will see min/avg/max. The avg is your base ping.

Ah, and in terms of bandwidth, should I put a different number in the up/down? Yeah my plan is 250/20 but those are not the speeds I get with this router. I wonder if it's better for me to use a different number.
PharmDawgg
I would enter the max speeds initially that you are use to getting. Input the values and follow the prompts from the router. It should make the appropriate adjustments to your settings that will allow you to get as close to those speeds as possible. Make sure whatever you do: select the reactive algorithm /uncheck deep packet processing/ select turbo mode only(not super turbo mode).
