FQs19 Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 I have xfinity coming Wednesday, tomorrow and Verizon coming Thursday. How do I test for jitter or packet lose or all that, I know the test zen told me to run just don't know how to read it Use http://www.pingtest.net/ to test for Packet Loss (must have java installed), Jitter, and Ping. Use http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest to test for Speed and Bufferbloat. All tests need to be done wired with a PC or Laptop either connected directly to modem or the first router after the modem. I would leave the Netduma disconnected because we want to see your results from just the ISP. If your are testing from behind a router, make sure you have any QOS (Quality of Service) disabled.

Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted March 3, 2016 Administrators Posted March 3, 2016 39ms base ping, so you won't get a game lower than that. Also getting some 100ms spikes there which isn't great. I imagine during peak time it will be worse.
Zennon Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 Mike has a DSL line being put in to test also, i am sure it will be better than cable's jitter.
fuzzy clam Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 Mike has a DSL line being put in to test also, i am sure it will be better than cable's jitter. I would have to agree with Yoda Z,as it made a huge difference in my situation.Much more stable gaming and jitter is at a minimum.
