The sad reality that every one has to realise....the game is just rigged and is just a money making machine...ive been tinkering with setting so long now to try and get that perfect game set up and yeah you get some joy....But mostly you get some joy and then lengths of pain and unenjoyment.....SBMM (skill based match making) is the first hurdle which firstly punishes you for doing well and then combined with connection manipulation which puts you at a disadvantage to make other players seem like gods...The dev's at Activision want everyone around the 1.0 kd...so noobs get the enjoyment as well as battle hardened try hards... the system just drip feeds you some good times and then does the opposite and let's you get destroyed so easily no matter how fast you react..... I'm a UK player and have had my connection locked onto the milan Italy server probably a month or so because at first that was giving me more luck and enjoyment....but lately in game updates changed that...so now I've swapped back to dropping my location back in the sea off the coast of the UK and setting my ping assist to 16 and its become a little better...but I find the best thing is start a game and see how fair you find the fire fights and if your getting dropped easily after shooting first BS....I jump straight out and try the next game match make...to see if that's any better....and keep repeating till the game puts me back in a fair fire fight game...😡👎

You can change the MTU down to 750 on duma router but if i lower my MTU on PS5 to 750 the game hangs on loading screen....lowest I can get it on PS5 is 1380...I'm UK location i start game and then circle the server in Milan strict and 0 ping and that normal gives me a better game than having the UK circled....Still get annihilated by sweat lobbies but that down to the horrendous SBMM set.. but one on one gun battles seem alot fairer....but still not perfect at times.

Feel your pain 👍 The game hates players with wired fast connections we are at some much at a disadvantage it has nothing to do with how fast you are when your getting insta melted... it's blatantly obvious the game is putting you at a disadvantage to others playing with substandard connection and on WiFi....just so annoying we have to try and make our connections worse to get a fair game 😔....miss the original ps3 mw2 and blackops mw3 days....even ghost was pretty decent games that played well....They try to hard to cater for everyone nowadays just for game sales by tampering with game mechanics to try and give everyone the same experience....old games I used to be around 1.75k/d newer games I struggle to get over 1.0k/d every game is a roll of the dice will my gun perform or will I be put at a disadvantage 🤷♂️🤷♀️🤷

sorry congestion control disabled....and only changed the MTU on PS5.....trouble is today even with these setting I've had a horrible time on MW2...ive even changed back to my original settings and still no joy....make me think the game decides when you will get a good game and not your connection...As NetDuma is not really giving me any better connection with or without it...must be the game that's adjusting the game play. I'm stumped?

I remember the PS3 MW days. Planty of hackers but lag was minimal. Today they want to sell this game to everybody, either it's 5ms guy on fiber or 100ms 10 years old on his mommy's wifi.
I also remember (long time ago) conversation in Activision COD forums with one of their employees. He said that "you no longer will have the advantage because of your internet". When I asked why, he closed the entire thread.

What he was referring to is artificial latency balancing.
Paper from 2005:

Basically they attempt to balance out latency server side by adding additional latency to players with fast internet. And that paper describes tech from 2005.
This is also the reason why P2P games always felt more responsive, they eliminated host advantage but didnt balance the clients.
So indeed it makes little difference playing on 20ms or 50ms ping etc.

This is my opinion and shouldn't be considered factually accurate. What works for you might not work for me and vice versa.
From what I can gather the goal is to trick CoD into thinking your connection is bad and thus giving you advantage. I wonder how the system determines if you require connection based assistance or disadvantage.
We have three servers in South Africa of which two are in Cape town and one in Johannesburg. Pings ranging from 4ms-22ms depending on which server I play
I tried changing the MTU, throttling the speed and using a VPN but it made no consistent difference. It really does feel like some players "insta melt" you or they simply absorb full mags of damage.
I don't personally think there is much we can do client side to gain a advantage when the server determines/manipulates the outcome of gunfights.

For my part what I use the most is:
1 - The Geo-filter (to know the location of the server)
2 - Auto ping (to know the quality of the server)
3 - Benchmark connection (to find out if my line is optimal)
