Sentinel82 reacted to DARKNESS in Block PC players
@Paul_81
Cheating is rampant across all platforms—no game is safe. Developers are doing their best to fight back, but cheaters constantly find new ways around anti-cheat systems. One rising method is using SD cards or USB devices to bypass protections—especially on consoles. So let’s be clear: the idea that consoles are “safe” is a myth. Cheaters have already figured out how to slip past detection.
Even worse, retailers are openly selling cheat devices on store shelves. These scripting tools might not modify game code, but that doesn’t make them any less of a cheat. They spoof inputs to create inhuman precision and speed, giving players an unfair edge. Just because it’s hardware-based doesn’t make it legitimate—it’s still cheating.
I’m not naming specific devices here because they don’t need any more attention. But if you know, you know.
The only people who don’t regularly run into cheaters are casual players. If you’re playing at high ranks, it’s a different story. As someone who’s reached Master rank eight times in Apex Legends, I see it every day—DMA cheaters tracking through walls like it's nothing, blatantly obvious. It’s not a “get better” issue—it’s a broken system. And don’t get me started on the input scripters. Some of them even brag about it. They’re not hiding—they’re proud. You can spot them by their tags. Sure, some try to fly under the radar, but it’s obvious if you know what to look for. One group I’ve run into over and over uses the tag “TTOK.” From what I’ve seen, they’re part of a coordinated network. They try to blend in, but their behavior gives them away every time.
I know this sounds like a rant, but honestly—it’s infuriating how bad the cheating situation has gotten

Sentinel82 got a reaction from Zli in Can't connect to most games using R3
@Dunclin
Try reverting back to and earlier version and see if it improves things.
I'd suggest 4.0.236 it's been stable in my opinion good luck

😅 (dear power supply.. Why do you look like all other power supplies)

Sentinel82 reacted to Netduma Fraser in Ping not stabilizing
Game servers don't respond to traditional pings so we try to be clever in order to get a successful ping but it doesn't always work. It will then try to fall back to the trace method which won't give you the correct ping in most cases but hopefully somewhere near it, however this can also fail. Then because it's unable to determine the true ping it can't know what value it needs to apply with Steady Ping.
We're working on a new ping method that may help but I don't have an ETA for this.

Sentinel82 reacted to Krispy_B_Bacon in Operators
This is just my opinion and everyone is entitled to their own one. But I’ve noticed playing the past couple call of duty’s you have a list of operators for each opposing team or side. Such as Spetnaz and such, well in bo6 we have Rogue black ops and Crimson one. That being said you can’t just rock one person that you think looks cool. In bo3 for example it used to be an in depth system for skins and characters and when you started a match it just put you on an opposing team, all the while enjoying the skin you spent the time on to get. And In bo6 you must equip 2 different skins. So if you have one favorite skin that you bought or got from the battle pass you get it half the time. And on top of that you have to spend more money to get the second skin. I wish we could just rock the one skin we liked and maybe people like having two characters. But I’m just tired of getting milked like the cow I am cause I am going to keep buying these games. Couldn’t y’all keep making money and let us save a tiny bit to enjoy it more? Anyway those are just my thoughts I hope all are doing well and enjoying your day!

Sentinel82 reacted to Proud R3 Owner in R3 review worth a read from a very experienced and knowledgable reviewer of network equipment.
I agree with the RAM part, I know the R3 struggles with memory optimization since they need it due to lack of physical memory. But I honestly could care less about the Wi-Fi, especially standards past Wi-Fi 6 as most devices haven't broken past that either. Honestly if they could have dropped in a gig of physical ram, added a 2.5Gb wan port or at least aggregation, more LAN ports and a better 3 channel Wi-Fi setup they'd have an absolute beast. But I also understand they're a small company and looking to sell as many units with the best profit (cost/retail). If they built a bigger better unit and sold it for a lot more, not as many people would be able to afford it and they wouldn't reach the profits they'd need to continue what the they do. Maybe in the future we can convince them to maybe launch 2 in series as maybe an R4 and an R4 pro (or whatever you'd call the big brother) and rely on the smaller more affordable unit for profit needs and the bigger model for flex (you know show people what they can really do) and maybe also so they can see there's still a big market for pricey network equipment.

https://forum.netduma.com/topic/53537-my-settings-for-good-hit-detection-mw3/page/7/#comment-419216
Go to page 6 and 7 where I left comments.
You need to try different things and explore something you haven't already with R3 until you find what is ok for you. R3 has great potential.
I got C and D on the Bufferbloat test. And the hits in COD are never better. Very bizarre. My Smartboost is turned off
For now, R3 works great for me. when R3 starts causing some problems and lagging in the game, I will do a hard reset and everything will be ok again. I noticed that when a hard reset is done 2x a month, the R3 works very well. I have a feeling every 15 days that something strange happens inside R3. It's not a problem for me to do the settings again from the start. I'm familiar with R3 and it takes me 5 minutes to set everything up again as it suits me.
I note again. What works for one may not work for another, but it's worth trying.
The latest thing I did on page 7 was to turn Smartboost off completely and I'm happy with the results of the game. I don't know when was the last time I had less than 30 kills at the end of the game.
Whatever adjustment you make, don't expect Magic in 15 minutes. You have to give R3 a chance for at least one day and play like that and then see if it's good for you or not.
Be patient with R3 and try different settings and experiments until you are completely satisfied with R3. I tried many different settings. I don't know what else to tell you. 🙋🏻♂️

Sentinel82 reacted to Netduma Fraser in Australia server not showing on geo filter
It looks like it is working in the sense that it is blocking everything outside your zone - try switching to simple instead of custom and see if that works better.

Sentinel82 reacted to Netduma Fraser in Australia server not showing on geo filter
Try this:
Quit the application/game/client completely Remove device from the Geo-Filter Resync from the Geo-Filter Map menu Re-add the device to the Geo-Filter Set up the Geo-Filter how you like Wait 2 minutes Boot up application/game/client Then see if it works.
This is the R3 not the XR1000 and it's not been abandoned, an update is coming.

Sentinel82 reacted to gangrel in My R3 Experience
I'm very pleased with my R3. Works pretty well. The one thing I got to do is restart it once in a while. Why? It will assign a different address to devices. What am I talking about? You know how normally it's 192.168.77.whatever. Every now and then it would give a device 192.168.09.whatever. Which is not normal. I would restart device. All is good. GeoFilter works good for me. I connect to servers I want. The wifi on mine is interesting. The 5ghz has longer ranger then 2.4ghz. Weird right? Should be the opposite. I've never had issues with Lan ports dropping (my Xbox Series X and TV use Lan in my gaming room). Everything else is wifi (including Xbox Series S and other TV). No issues with devices dropping. I'm looking forward to the next update to further smooth things out.

Sentinel82 reacted to Aimz in Netduma r3 is the best gaming router!
This isn’t a support post, this is just a post from a hardcore call of duty ranked player giving my honest review of the router. Because ive been seeing soooo much negativity about this router.
Ive been playing ranked play on call of duty modern warfare 3 on pc for about 8 hours a day. I can honestly say the netduma r3 melts my enemies. I’ve tried multiple different routers so I know how each router feels when you’re playing competitively when every millisecond counts! I’ve tried Openwrt, Ubiquiti, Arista, Mikrotik, Pfsense and Asus ROG routers. They all do very good A+ 0ms bufferbloat with QOS. BUT the problem with those routers is the hit detection / lag comp. Where you clearly see the enemy and shoot them first and you die first. It’s like you shoot nerf bullets and they just INSTA DELETE you!
I don’t know how netduma does it but this router is manipulating the lag comp / hit detection to give you a advantage. I mean theres still some moments when I’m like how did I lose that gunfight but it’s ALOT less compared to those other routers.
The latest firmware still has some bugs that I’m sure is going to be fixed.. but the firmware is more than playable for me
Anyone else feels this way or its only me?

Sentinel82 reacted to Netduma Fraser in In 1 week it will be 2 months without any new firmware and there are so many bugs and problems still unresolved.
We have a firmware being tested internally currently so shouldn't be much longer now. Here is a rough change log so you can get an idea of what it includes. As you can see it's quite a beefy update, hence why it took longer than the previous ones.
Addition of Hybrid VPN Improved SmartBOOST performance Various frontend improvements Fix for memory leak (sometimes manifesting as being unable to access the interface) Potential fix for "frequent disconnects" issue Chromecast and local transfers fixed (this is the WiFi bug where devices can't communicate with each other when they're connected to the same WiFi band e.g. 2.4/2.4GHz) Fix for "No Internet Detected" bug in Setup Wizard IPv6 PPPoE now works with SmartBOOST Ping Optimizer reliability improvements UPnP Improvements Before you ask, no I cannot provide this to you before it's deemed to be stable so please don't ask as you'll get a disappointing answer!
When ready we will release it, please don't ask for an ETA!

Sentinel82 reacted to Netduma Fraser in ETA on new firmware with actual fixes
No definitely not everyone, I don't have the issue either. I have to remind myself as well sometimes but when looking at the support forum you're only going to see people with issues and that percentage of the customer base is very small compared to those that aren't posting/commenting.

Sentinel82 reacted to Alex49H in New firmware
The Geo Filter doesn't remove or cancel SBMM, that is an Activision COD function. The Geo Filter around certain servers is to keep us in low ping games, but I have never known it to block SBMM. I know the Duma team is working very hard to get us a new firmware and they will let us know. Can't wait to see what the Duma team come up with next!

Sentinel82 reacted to xNotTheBestJedi in NEW R3 FIRMWARE 4.0.41
General thoughts about .41
- Great improvement in general D/U speeds and WIFI performance. Good work!
- Ping is very low. I always had low ping and a bufferbloat score of A but now it's A+ everytime.
- Smartboost works well only if the deep packet inspection is consistent. Sometimes it doesn't classify gaming traffic correctly and it gets the "Unkwonwn" tag. Devices on the other hand get prioritized perfectly.
- Deep packet inspection consistency wouldn't be an issue if Steady Ping didn't rely on this feature to work. I observed that when DPI is not working, Steady Ping doesn't work either. So it's very important to have a consistent DPI performance.
- Steady ping is great when it works, I have a ping to COD servers of 60 - 90 ms and when steady ping is active it doesn't matter if a have a higher ping, the game feels very smooth and responsive. I think this is one of the best new features you implemented. Great work! Need it to work all the time.
- Geo Latency needs a lot of work. It allows connections to servers outside the Geofence consistently.
- And lastly the GeoFilter mostly works but it had happened on occasion that it gets a connection outside the fence even with Geolatency off.
Overall I had a good experience with this update but there is still some more work to be done. The router is actually very good and I'm very happy with the experience. Thank you for the continued support.

Sentinel82 reacted to Netduma Alex in NEW R3 FIRMWARE 4.0.41
Hi everyone,
We have a brand new R3 firmware for you. It includes many important fixes based on the feedback we received since the launch, including addressing issues with Steady Ping and Geo-Filter 2.0 to make them more reliable. The full change log is provided at the bottom of this thread.
Over the next few days, you will be able to upgrade automatically by clicking on the 'Update Available' option in your user interface (both mobile and desktop). However, if you prefer, you can manually upgrade your R3 now using a PC or laptop by following these steps:
Download the attached upgrade file. Reboot your R3 - this is a one-off as this new firmware contains improvements to make manual upgrading smoother in the future. Go to the Netduma R3 user interface on your PC/laptop. Navigate to >Settings >Troubleshooting and then click Upload Firmware. Choose the file and then upload it. You'll need to wait a few minutes for the upload to complete.. If you upgraded to version 4.0.40 last week, we recommend upgrading to this new 4.0.41 as soon as possible. The previous firmware had a niche packet reordering bug affecting login issues for games like Fortnite. It also made Geo-Filter 2.0 less reliable. These issues are now fixed in the latest release.
R3-4.0.41.sig
What's Next?
Good news: Hybrid VPN development is complete for the R3 and is now in testing. We've redesigned the frontend for Hybrid-VPN to make it easier and clearer compared to DumaOS 3. We're excited for you to try it out! In the next few days, we'll be moving it to closed beta testing, and if all goes well, we should have it with you very soon along with fixes to make Ping Optimiser run more reliably and improved IPv6 support.
Please continue to provide us with your feedback so we can keep making your R3 experience better and better.
Changelog:
Alternative download link.
Thank you for using the Netduma R3.
