TheJam got a reaction from Harley in Something very important for the future of the brand
Allowing custom language files is really interesting. If it reads the text fields from a JSON config file which we could overwrite, share, and apply, that would be pretty cool.
I’d be happy to create a webpage with a UI to do that which isn’t affiliated with Netduma and have a disclaimer saying so - so people could type what they want for those fields and export it.
Could set up a subreddit for language files if you guys didn’t want it shared directly on the forums.

Yeah, that's showing up in myip. Thanks very much - going to see if that solves the NAT issues - fingers crossed.

Ahh that's brilliant to hear - a device doesn't need to have a LAN IPv6 address to make use of your public IPv6 address so if you do my ip into Google and you get IPv6 then you're all good.

Try this:
Quit the application/game/client completely Remove device from the Geo-Filter Give PC PlayStation Device Type in the Device Manager (if on PC) Resync from the Geo-Filter Map menu Re-add the device to the Geo-Filter with the manual option Set up the Geo-Filter how you like Wait 2 minutes Boot up application/game/client Then see if it works.

You should just be able to zoom the map in then scroll down the page to see Auto Ping. You can't resize the panels on this page but if you pin the Auto Ping and Geo Map panels to the dashboard you can then resize them on the dashboard according to your preference.

Yes 10% will be fine.
There is also a newer firmware available for the XR1000 so I'd suggest upgrading to that as it may mean you can pull a newer version of our DPI database, which may help with this issue.
Edit: After a discussion internally, this firmware is no longer available due to remaining issues.

TheJam got a reaction from Netduma Fraser in Because this error occurs when restarting the xr1000 and re-entering the router.
I noticed a new firmware update is available from Netgear today (https://kb.netgear.com/000065541/XR1000-Firmware-Version-1-0-0-68?language=en_US)
It includes these log-in related fixes:
Fixes the issue where you cannot log in to the router through the router web interface. Fixes the issue where the router web interface is not accessible when you configure the XR1000 in AP mode. Maybe the update will fix your issue with logging in?
@Netduma Fraser - might be worth updating the Firmware section of the forum to include the new version as it's showing 1.0.0.64 at the moment.

Poopy lagging? Not sure my router supports that…
I’ll leave you to it anyways. Good luck trying to join the highest ping servers you can find in the world.

If it’s just a game then why are you going to such lengths to exploit it?
I played 5 mins of a game on one of the locations you were trying to join, I had a 300ms ping and I was killing people before they could even fire a bullet - everyone around me was stuttering about and couldn’t react to anything I was doing while I was also lagging about. Even people shooting me in the back, I could turn around and kill them - it was ridiculous. I would randomly die at times from someone shooting but it was clear I had a major advantage. Is that what you mean by “peakers advantage”?
If you want to revel in toxicity in COD then that’s up to you but when legitimate players get fed up and all you’re left with is hackers and exploiters then you’re not gonna find it too relaxing.
In the meantime, it’s good to see COD trying to stop this and hopefully can improve it again for season 3 for those of us who just want to play on a level playing field, separated only by skill.

You could certainly give it a try yes, in theory IPv6 should resolve your issues!

It's just very different hardware from a different manufacturer, that's where the added complications come from.

TheJam reacted to Netduma Liam in XR1000v2 Question - Also, what's up with all the spam here?
The V2 is essentially the same just with slightly different, but very comparable, hardware. It was due to a hardware shortage so NETGEAR had to adapt and esenntially come out with an updated version.
The spam bots are annoying, I thought it was due to the forum being due an update but that doesn't appear to have helped. We're looking into it and we'll deal with them!

It might be worth checking what players are in the same lobby as you, if you come across the same players frequently, which I do as I have cross-play disabled. It's guaranteed that if the game starts with them in it, it's unplayable. I suspect they're joining with a very high ping causing issues with the server as Call of Duty tries to compensate for this causing games to be unplayable. With some of those players, they can end up in my next 5+ games in a row. Some are from America on UK or EU servers, some are from Asia - guessing they're using some form of Geo Filtering to give them an advantage.
It might not be the same issue you're having but worth keeping it in mind. I've blocked them in Call of Duty and they show up with a muted mic symbol if they're in the same server in game so you know if they're in your lobby. My ping is always between 25 - 32 with every server I join - I don't think it's a reliable indicator of in-game lag though.
If you end up in a game where that's happening and first place is way ahead while everyone else has a normal or bad kill/ death ratio, it might be worth looking at their profile and see if their country location is listed near their name.

TheJam got a reaction from PurpleHaze in Extremely Disappointed XR1000
I bought a VPN subscription after seeing some Netgear Duma models were advertised with HybridVPN and was surprised the XR500 had it but the XR1000 didn't. Is the XR500 easier to develop for? Curious why the XR1000 is complicated - assuming it comes with extra levels of Netgear functionality that complicates things a bit or is it something else like the hardware configuration?
-
TheJam reacted to Netduma Liam in Im new here just wondering which router to get
Yes, however if that country is very far away this will result in a high ping. If the ping is too high, your game client may well refuse to connect to these servers and you'll be left searching for a match for ages.

TheJam reacted to Raw_ in XR1000 Can't Obtain an IP address
I finally got it working. I put the XB8 into bridge mode and confirmed that I was getting internet directly connected via ethernet to the xb8 in bridge mode. I connected the XR1000 after that and the XR was still not speaking with the modem. I then unplugged the XB8 and kept it unplugged for about 10 minutes. I powered the XB8 back on, keeping the XR1000 still plugged in. I waited maybe another 5 minutes, they still did not speak to each other. Then I powered off the XR1000, unplugged it for a minute or two. Plugged back in and then finally got the white internet light.

TheJam reacted to Netduma Liam in Hybrid VPN
Hey, I've responded to you in the other topic you've posted regarding the XR1000. We are working on redesigning Hybrid VPN as we're aware the UI and functionality is not up-to-scratch. It will be improving over time, we appreciate your patience on it.

TheJam reacted to Netduma Fraser in Hybrid VPN
I have just chased this with the team as I think this is something we can fix remotely for everyone without a firmware update. Just waiting to hear back from them to confirm that.

TheJam reacted to Netduma Alex in Hybrid VPN
So I have fiddled around on an XR500 in the office, and you're right. PureVPN only lists countries, cities never appear. Could you just confirm for me that no other countries have cities listed? You don't have to click them all, just a few will do.
Also could you switch to hidemyass and see if cities appear then? Because they do for me. I think this is a problem specific to purevpn. I've made a bug report.
