iAmMoDBoX got a reaction from Alex49H in Intel's Puma 6 chipset suffers from latency & jitter, fix soon.
Saw your other post too... I'd go with the TP-Link TC-7610 it works perfect with the R1 and it's cheap

From my experience with 3.1 modems they were a bit wonky... so unless you absolutely need it, I wouldn't do it

*NOTE FROM NETDUMA FRASER*
Keep in mind, the R1 still works with those listed you just may get a better experience with those in the compatibility list. Some people use those in the non compatible list and have no issues.
There is no reason to purchase another modem/router unless you have specifically found issues with your existing modem/router.
You are advised to do your own research before making a financial commitment.

THIS IS IN NO WAY A FULL LIST OF THE BEST GAMING MODEMS.
AS A GENERAL RULE - STAY AWAY FROM ISP PROVIDED "ALL IN ONE" MODEM/ROUTER HUBS IF YOU CAN.

ISP limits it for no reason at all... I use it for 300 down on Comcast

iAmMoDBoX reacted to Zennon in Ping Plotter Quick Guide
Fraser has asked me to post a guide for PingPlotter, I will keep it simple like myself, here goes..
Download PingPlotter Here
Type a close IP to your region I usually use twitter.com or .co.uk but as i write this both were connecting to the US as I am in the UK I have set the ping plot to bbc.co.uk.
Typing bbc.co.uk into the target address bar leaving the interval at 2.5 then pressing enter on your keyboard or the go button.
A congested line looks like this.
You can see the ping in real time, the ping numbers are listed to the left of the plot.
I achieved this by setting my congestion control sliders to 100% each so that the duma was not helping with local congestion thus saturating the line.
If you have a ISP issue from say a Intel PUMA 6 based CPU in a modem or ISP congestion an BT line fault (US/World infrastructure alternative) or even a faulty Ethernet cable, RJ11 or faulty Master socket face plate your line may look like this even when you set your sliders lower.
This is a line idle with minimal traffic being used that does not use a PUMA 6 based chipset or have any network issues.
This is a line downloading a full width saturating the line but using the duma congestion control at 70% each way
If you would like to post a bad result to the forum or save a plot to prove to your ISP there is an issue after ruling out your own network then press File and click on save image and this will give you an image of the GUI at that moment for you.

I always buy from amazon if I'm not certain on something because of their easy returns
Keep us updated... As for the old modem working fine, it's very possible that it was not connecting to the "bad" channels that your new modem is since it's 32 channels

OMG so today I got to try out Comcast gigabit service. What a mess! The modem is an Arris TG3482G, which if you do a google search the first result pretty much explains it. Speed and ping issues like crazy. One second you'll hit 700 Mbps, the next you can barely reach 50 Mbps. Reboot the modem, speeds are back again. Ping shoot up to 3,000 ms randomly. Multiple Comcast techs and I verified that the signals are perfect so that's not an issue. Plus the modem/router only has TWO ethernet ports on it. Who gets gigabit speeds and only runs 2 wired devices to it? What a joke! Lol
TL;DR - Don't get an Arris TG3482G modem for Comcast gigabit. Other gigabit modems may be fine.

So like I said, this pretty much covers ALL Arris modems released since 2010 when Intel bought out Texas Instruments to use their chips. Which is why modems like the SB6141 are on the list also.

He won't cause comcast doesn't offer it and never will... Go with the 7610 and stay far away from Arris.

LOL... Wow.. Your not the brightest bulb in the shed.. You know right im guy who forced Intel to admit there are still issues right, developing tests with pingplotter no one had done before ? You know im the guy quoted in press on this issue right https://www.theregister.co.uk/2016/12/03/intel_puma_chipset_firmware_fix/Im the guy in the class action lawsuit who did the tests, you know that right ? http://badmodems.com/Files/arriscomplaint.pdf
You know Intel has OFFICIALLY acknowledged there is still a issue with Puma 5/6/7 right https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r31122204-SB6190-Puma6-TCP-UDP-Network-Latency-Issue-Discussion~start=5788
Im not sure you could find anyone on the internet more versed on this issue besides me. WELL,, Its been a team effort of course with a core set of people on DSLR.
And NOOOO to answer your question, ONLY Intel modems have issues with .3.. I do all my testing at 0.05. 100 pings a second is a good temporal resolution. I have chart after chart showing modems going back 15 years that do this just fine..
Here im doing a direct A/B with a 14 YEAR OLD DOCSIS 2 modem at 0.1 THREE TIMES FASTER THEN .3. I swap modems in the middle of the graph.

Most of those modems use the Intel Puma chipset which is broken. Has nothing to do with this router.
