What is the platform you're gaming on?
-
Okay thank you for the information, I'll speak with Liam about it and see if we can try to reproduce it and then investigate why it may be happening.
-
Does it go as high as when doing the WiFi trick?
-
Just to clarify, are you wanting to have a DDoS protected server or to protect yourself from DDoS when connected to the server? If the former then it may be worth looking at servers that specifically advertise they have DDoS protection such as https://www.reliablesite.net/ddos-protection/ for example although I couldn't vouch for their effectiveness. If the latter then using the HybridVPN would be the best option available to you and we can troubleshoot to get that working properly.

Well done for getting it sorted. As mentioned before, the tick rate isn't something we can necessarily influence so I'm surprised it actually changes when doing the WiFi trick you mentioned. If you disable filtering mode but still use the Geo-Filter to see and ping the server does the tick rate go up?
-
You need to tick enabled on the DMZ then click apply changes, then reboot the R2 and you'll have an Open NAT
-
Have you set any port forwarding/triggering rules or DMZ on the R2 or any port forwarding/triggering rules on the V Hub? Could you provide a screenshot of the R2 System Information page and the DMZ page on the V hub please?
-
It's the WAN IP or the IP that you see on the attached devices list on the V hub, give the R2 a reboot and then it should be open
-
Okay so first of all, on the Geo-Filter, filtering mode isn't enabled, that's why it's not working for you, enable that and you should be good to go. We're still improving Auto Setup for Congestion Control but it looks like you've got some values there for Congestion Control, how are they working out for you?
-
Yes so there will be less restrictions on you when searching with an Open NAT, also if there is any sort of port conflicts that might raise your ping a bit but really what putting the R2 in the DMZ will do is allow all traffic to pass straight through to the R2 unimpeded by the V hub which could be affecting the ping. Did you factory reset after updating to the latest firmware as that issue was largely resolved in this version. If you have and it's still happening then go to the System Information page and then in the Rapp panel menu ≡ change the retries to 5, reboot from the interface, wait 2 minutes before accessing and see if it works then please.

Could you provide a screenshot of your WiFi page please after you've disabled it?
-
Ideally you would put the ZTE in modem mode or have the XR in its DMZ to eliminate double NAT, it would be a shame to put the XR in AP mode as you wouldn't be able to use any of the features I would presume you purchased it for. I'd suggest contacting your provider and getting them to put your modem in modem mode.
-
Did you disable it and then click save wireless? You will need to do that to disable it properly
-
Won't be that long, you can try the current DumaOS app by searching DumaOS in your mobile app store
-
No it shouldn't really affect it but it may make search times a little faster with an Open NAT
-
So it may be a coincidence that you were getting more lower tick rate games on the router, I'd suggest specifically forcing different servers so move your location/radius to cover a different server and block the ones you would usually connect to.
-
It's in WAN Settings "Allow Remote access to tech support"
-
What is the firmware version you're currently on? Is there anything that changed in your network when you noticed the lag, new devices, changed settings etc? It may sound counter-intuitive but you could try with one IPv6 option enabled so LAN on, WAN off and vice versa and see if that has any affect please?

That is about normal for what the game uses, sometimes it is higher but it's entirely dependent on the game/server you're connected to. You may benefit from forcing servers slightly further away even if the ping is slightly higher as they may be more stable.

GeoFilter not working on Warzone
Netduma Fraser replied to Kohdaa's topic in NETGEAR Nighthawk Support (XR range)
The Geo-Filter isn't a VPN, it doesn't change your IP address which is what the location in the game uses to approximate it. Basically when you search for a game it determines which servers you can/can't connect to, by blocking servers outside your radius it appears as though you can only connect to specific servers and so that's where it will put you.
