WIFI dropping - Why?

I'm having issues with my WIFI connection going down. The only correlation I can think is when youtube is streaming on one of our ipads. I know that doesn't make much sense but it seems to always correlate. Is there any way to diagnose why a wifi connection drops out?

Thanks, all that looks fine, I did change my wifi chan though was good when I set it but apparently that has changed we'll see if that makes a difference.

Times like this I wish we had access to system logs on the R1. If you are using R1's wifi I would select either 1,6 or 11 and no others.

Interesting stuff. A while back I was looking for a fix for my laptop failing to connect or only intermittently connecting to WiFi (none of my other devices have ever done this) and was pulling my hair out over it, so I tried everything I could think of. I gave the laptop a static IP, I changed the channel to 4 (just picked one randomly), ticked wifi workaround (this didn't work the first time I tried it), and also followed a guide I found on YouTube suggesting that Windows 10 has an issue with some kind of power saving setting when it's rebooted, meaning the wireless adapter is off when you reboot even though it's on. It wasn't just rebooting that prevented me from connecting to the R1 though - sometimes it would connect for 5 minutes and then just disconnect. It would always show up in my network list and actually connect, but I couldn't get Internet through it. I do think the R1 was at fault though, because I never lost connection to my ISP router's WiFi.

 

I don't know what fixed it, although I've since unticked WiFi workaround and it's still going strong weeks later. It hasn't dropped out once. I just don't want to undo the other fixes to rule them out because I've finally got it working lol

I’m having some random drops just briefly the last couple days too, I’m actually getting a bit nervous cause until recently my duma has been flawless. Suddenly I’m getting random issues that seem to be connected to possible overheating or something similar maybe, or could be my WiFi range has decreased suddenly. I’ve put the duma up on it’s side right now to give it a bit better ventilation cause putting it up on spacers and giving more room didnt seem to help, there’s no reason not to right? . Hoping my duma isn’t about to take a Pooh before dumaos is released cause I’m not sure I’m willing to put another 200 up if that’s the case. Its not like it’s got a huge workload most times so hopefully it keeps going and it’s just been a fluke. I’m going to change the channel again now I guess and see if this issue improves. Hopefully there’s a version on newer hardware sometime soon with the update coming soon, I could justify that purchase to myself before another old model at this price.

I had forgot about the problem with Windows 10 power saving and the WiFi adapter. I had the same problem with Windows 10 a while back. Unticking WiFi workaround was probably what fixed your issue, some people need to have it ticked and others unticked. If everything’s working now I’d just leave everything alone. ‘If it ain’t broke don’t fix it’

i don't use netduma's wifi at all. I have a synology 1900ac set to AP mode so I can make use of the 5g and 2.4g wift and still benefit from the netduma controlling everything

Some people sit the Duma on an upturned saucer, this gives good all round ventilation. Is the Duma randomly rebooting?

It has rebooted twice over the last month which I kinda ignored, but other times mostly on my iPad Pro I just lose connection and need to join again. Just started this past week when I’m playing a game or something that would use a decent amount of bandwidth is why I thought maybe heat.

Are you losing WiFi on other devices or is it just the iPad?
