Black ops 3, so... SBMM is back..

I don't play TDM so I'm not aware of the SBMM taking place in that playlist, but I never noticed anything different from my normal OBJ game types of HP and Dom.  And arena is arena so wouldn't notice it there.  Either way, you all have your pub stomping lobbies back.

Personally, my opinion on the matter (for whatever it's worth) is they can call it whatever they like, that looked and played like SBMM and whilst it was not 100% AW SBMM it was not prioritising connection and I could see that on my Netduma when people connecting to my local dedicated server in Melbourne, Victoria were from places as far as Indonesia, Hong Kong and even Madagascar!

Yep i get this aswell.

I have all but given up on cod, not sure if im just too old and over it, or just sick of the bs

8hrs so far on BO3 and it wont be getting higher anytime soon.

For what it's worth I missed it. I know I saw a patch Last Friday evening and the game felt solid. I played against a clan and tore them up.

That never happens. Usually I am at the receiving end of a good schlacking by any clan since I play solo. Not this time. But whatever happened if Vahn did or didn't do all I know as that we DO NOT want AW SBMM!!! #NoSweatyLobbies

There was zero SBMM evident last night on PS4 for me. Played 20 or so games and other than a couple of sweaty lobbies, which were playing Combine over and over and over again, it was good, bordering on really good.

Personally my view is skewed because the sample population has been half, at least, as what it will be after the start of the year.

Smaller sample population.  More hardcore gamers per average player.  More chances of drawing in super slayers like some of the guys on here, into the same lobbies.

Roll out a patch and see if your algorithm works.  Yep, a ton of super slayers are showing up in lobbies.  Community flips out.  Time to select "off" and review the numbers.

(pause)

We don't know that this WASN'T a calculated introduction prior to the big Christmas morning rush.  Best selling title, most downloads, most popular and we have a community starving for a "fun game" so it's not hard to fathom SOME thought being given to this idea.  We don't want to add 50% of our fanbase over the holidays and have them bail by the first week in January because of the in game balance.  Can you imagine being a level NOTHING and dropping into a current lobby with none of your favorite items?

We don't know that it was either!  Almost record sales, and easily sales numbers where bonuses are paid out based on previous sales figures.  Would they necessarily want to fuck with something that is selling well and divert resources from things like DLC and bug fixes?

I can personally see arguments on both sides.  If the sample population expands, the overall effect of this version "we call" SBMM would have less of an overall impact.  Psygn might be the only 4+ K/D slayer in a lobby where the sample population to pull from suddenly got 20,000 new level 1's.

We just don't know.

The game, for me, is running better.  My enjoyment has increased, as has my overall in game Meta knowledge, thus I am playing better/smarter.  The hit detection seems to be getting better and the weapons are STARTING to balance out.  I went 22-1 (with the help of Rejack) with the Man of War on Fringe.  I then went 26-4 with the same gun on Stronghold, pretty much anchoring the entire lower section of the map.  I can live with those types of games!

We will have to see, but please remember, the overall population of the people you have been playing are the upper end of the "competitive/tryharder" selection.  Anyone serious about the game, with means, isn't waiting 6 weeks to get involved, they are already grinding.

You played on Combine, Combine, Combine, Combine, Combine, Combine, Combine, Combine, Combine, Combine, Combine, Combine.

LOL - That was probably the rotation for that lobby.  I was caught in two cycles.  Combine in one lobby.  And Fringe versus MLG wannabes in another.  I didn't play Aquarium but once, I played Hunted like twice and Evac (who chooses that map??) once.  And that was my evening....LOL

They removed SBMM on Saturday I believe, so that explains why you saw no evidence of it.

You are right that once the Christmas population is added the lobbies will get even easier, which is probably why they tried this out.  However another thing keep in mind is once they release dlc, the hardcore population will download it and the more casual players won't.  So if they were to increase the effects of sbmm now, it will negatively impact matchmaking when dlc is released.  I can see both side of the argument though, and I wouldn't mind a much more mild sbmm algorithm because I do enjoy a challenge (AW matchmaking would be fine).

The game is near perfect for me as of right now, low ping, good weapon balance.  But when they implemented the sbmm, not only were the lobbies difficult, my ping shot through the roof because I wasn't able to play on my local dedi.  They need to make sure that connections stay the number one priority which clearly was not the case on the last update.

This is very simple, bring back the training mode for the noobs like they did in the old black ops. Then release them into the wild and sink or swim.

Excellent idea! Let them get to level 20 or something so that they can figure out maps, weapons, movement, etc.

Yep.  This would definitely be a huge plus and I am going to be surprised if a version of this doesn't drop BEFORE the DLC.

Why?

Because sales are super strong, but after two lean years of post release hype sales, you KNOW the big wigs at Activision and Treyarch are looking at EXTENDING the LIFECYCLE of the game.  They can't be reaping huge DLC and in game micro transactions if they don't throw out some sample packets to the kiddies and let them get hooked.

Combat Training is like the free baggy.  Try it, you might like it.

And then there you are, with a "Free Agent" calling card and a calendar marking your next available blood and bone marrow donations so you can get some more money for Zur at the Black Market.

There is nothing that I have seen thus far to lead me to believe that Treyarch is "winging this", or doing it by the seat of their pants.  They have a plan and it's working pretty well this early on.

How many patches already?  What was the opening day MP version versus where we sit now?  And look at what was changed.  A ton of shit people were already complaining about.

Just saying....
