The0dark0one Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 I've been researching this router for a bit and I'm curious if there is an R2 planned for release any time soon? I would hate to buy the R1 right now, just before an R2 gets released for Christmas or something.
Newnsy Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 the guys have said there is not a R2 in the near future
Netduma Staff Netduma Crossy Posted October 25, 2015 Netduma Staff Posted October 25, 2015 Hi The0dark0one, welcome to the forum This is what Fraser said to someone on Twitter a few days ago: And this is what Luke said a while back about it. So basically no is the answer to your question

And unlike some companies, what these guys say is the actual truth. Not any companies I know of that will actually be in chat with you, just hanging out or answering posts on the forum. Pull the trigger,it's the best gaming investment i've made and you won't be unhappy with your purchase...
Zennon Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Even if there was and there is not, it would only be to say add a model with AC Wifi as the firmware would be the same on both routers. The Wifi range on the R1 is so good I would not bother with an AC version myself. This is all if buts and maybe's, there is no R2 on the horizon anyhow.
zombitroid Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 you already have the physical router when you buy the r1, you are paying for the high tech software which they update all the time. they might as well just make a huge update for the r1 instead of making an r2
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted October 26, 2015 Administrators Posted October 26, 2015 Everyone has hit the nail on the head here. No current plans, we're just focusing on making the software as good as it can be
II Z IE IR O II Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Netduma is proprietary software company, not a hardware company. But like they say, "Never say never, and everyone has a price" Give it time, if Netduma proves to the masses that their software is gold, I'm pretty sure some giant corporation eventually will jump on the bandwagon and offer them a pretty hefty large sum of $$$$$$$$$. Look at the creator of Mindcraft, so lowtech but a fricken Billionaire now because some big giant bought his game! Flappybirds is another one! But hey, such is life, everyone needs to feed their families, its a business! To the OP, just take the plunge! I did and bought 2. Don't worry about the future, live for today and just buy the router and enjoy it. But get it before BO3 is released! LMAO

The main reason I was asking was because I noticed that the R1 does not broadcast on the 5.0 GHz band and I have some devices that use 5.0 GHz. I figured out a solution after looking around the forums. I'm going to set up my current router as a wireless AP for the Netduma on only the 5.0 GHz frequency while letting the Netduma handle all 2.4 GHz frequency traffic. I think this should work out fine.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted October 26, 2015 Administrators Posted October 26, 2015 Awesome thanks for purchasing! Sounds like a good idea, you may want one or the other for wifi just in case of interference though with them being on different bands it should be okay
