Internet disconnected from everything except console

Recommended Posts

I was having a great time playing Battlefront last night.  I had actually forgotten to do anything with the Duma so the CC sliders so they were at 100%, Geofilter disabled, Upload Flower sharing everything equally, Share Excess ticked on.  My better half came into the cave and said our internet was down. Netflix was stuck buffering for a long time.  I said it can't be down because I'm using it to play this game.  So I tried to open the router home page and sure enough... there was no internet???  I had to physically unplug the router and everything worked fine after the reset.

Is there an reason/explanation as to how I could be playing on the XB1 while every other internet connected device in the house was down?  As far as glitches go for my fancy gaming router...this one is good because my console wasn't affected, but I still find it odd that my XB worked fine and everything else was down

Hi major masingil, it sounds like a one-off situation to me as you don't need the internet working to get to the Netduma gui. Its internal... you should be able to connect any device with an ethernet cable, type 192.168.88.1 in the address bar with any browser and it should appear.

Hey Yam Yam, thanks for your response. My laptop was not wired at the time I attempted to use the GUI, so based on what you just said, it makes sense that I wasn't able to access it.  Sounds like the wifi dropped or locked up, because we use a roku to stream netflix and it's connected wirelessly. The console is on an ethernet cable.

Is there where the wifi workaround would come into play?

Were all the other devices connected via wifi?

I wasn't able to check what was operational at the time, but I imagine the ones that weren't working were wifi.  The Roku is def wifi and that's what stopped netflix from working

What's up Zen?

it's not ticked now.  I was wondering if I should tick it?  lol. In any case this is the first time the wifi's acted funny.  I did just add a Sonos system to the mix which uses a wifi mesh to communicate with all the speakers. I have a cable connected to the playbar, but all the speaker communication is wifi. According to the sonos website  it's supposed to be a separate wifi network so as to not cause conflicts.

Hey Major all good, waiting until I get out of work for some Starwars :)

If this is a one off, maybe wait until it happens again then try ticking, it might not happen again in which case its all good.
