JAMINIROON
I'm trying to get my latency to the A+ mark for a better hit reg on call of duty... any advice or tips?? thanks a bunch! https://www.waveform.com/tools/bufferbloat?test-id=de0becfb-94dc-4e62-bc95-066b33e7e8e0
TODDzillaInLA
whats the goal? if you just want a a+ and zeros lower your speeds But is it really worth to lose so much bandwidth?
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted April 11 Administrators Share Posted April 11 Just like what you did with Congestion Control for download do the same with the Upload percentage until you get as close to 0 as possible.
JAMINIROON
yeah my goal is to get the lowest latency for a better gaming experience but I'm not having luck. i have gigabit speed with quantum fiber, and im scoring a C on bufferbloat, and my gameplay on all FPS gaming has been inconstant.... Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted April 26 Administrators Share Posted April 26 It's best to start with a high value for Congestion Control, say 95% then do a test, decrease by 10%, test, decrease by 10% etc, until you get to a value that is pretty good and then try 5% either side of that value to see if it can be improved. It's important to note that Download & Upload on Congestion Control don't have to be the same value and that you may have a better experience with differing values. VeeDot
These are probs the best results i will see, not becasue of the R3 but just becasue of the stability of my line in my area @JAMINIROON Everyones CC will be different, its not a one size fits all

JAMINIROON
I went down to 50% with no luck.... Quantum Fiber is starting to be a issue i think

Bad latenz and why you have more upload as download? Have your Quantum Fiber Router a bad QOS? You test DMZ for R3? You test TCP Optimizer? Bufferbload Score is Simple. I have 180 Mbit Down und 42 Up.... if i set to 150 and 35 i have Score A+ :-)
David824
is the CC suppose to only allow us to stop at 50%? I knew on my R2 and xr1000 I could use the sliders down to 2 if I wanted too...my up and down are always stopping at 50%

Alias 1aB
I used to get an A+ with the R2 on the bufferbloat test. The R3 usually produces a B. I have adjusted the congestion sliders manually and nothing really makes a difference. But i was using the R2 with only 2 devices connected to it as a secondary router. I now use the R3 as the main router and now all my hardwired devices are connected to it. It isnt something i am going to lose sleep over as I am planning to move later this year. I will most likely still have AT&T fiber for internet service so I will see if my connection and house setup has anything to do with it.

I'd suggest using this guide while downloading instead as the results will be more real world and you can optimize from there https://support.netduma.com/en/support/solutions/articles/16000074717-how-to-test-your-internet-ping Fairypusher

Fairypusher
Your upload is very bad. The latancy for idle and download is good. Why is your Upload so bad? 240ms is hard. Have you entered manual 100 Mbit up and 100 Mbit down for test?

Try the method I mentioned above.

Fuzy
You can try by disabling IPv6 and retest!

First thing I would do before testing on waveform is go into smart boost and set your web(general) to top priority. Second I would go into ping optimizer and advanced - set your CC to always and disable speed test bypass. I would go into geo filter and make sure your PC isn't on there (for the tests). After that I would run the test when nobody else is using the net for a more accurate result.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted November 10 Administrators Share Posted November 10 Good advice above, otherwise manually adjust the download Congestion Control slider and see how it impacts your results.
Alias 1aB
I moved and have the same ISP in AT&T 1 Gb fiber. But my buffer bloat pings scores are crazy now. My actual internet speed comes in at 1.3 Gbps on the AT&T gateway but the R3 or even the R2 have NEVER detected the correct internet speeds so that is irrelevant. Safe to assume 950 Mbps is the max speed on one of the R3 ports? I've tried all the tricks guys have suggested but no luck yet in improving buffer bloat. I tried turning ping stabilizer on. Didn't help. I am connecting to games with lobby pings of 10 ms and its glitchier than ever. I think it's the Black Ops 6 engine which has affected Warzone too. It's buggy as ever. That and cheaters of course.

I think you might be worried about the wrong thing, bufferbloat occurs when your network is saturated i.e. all available bandwidth is being used - unless you're running downloads every time you play it's very unlikely your connection is saturated. Also, using Congestion Control prevents the connection being saturated.
Alias 1aB
I clicked on the link for the guide you sent me. PAGE NOT FOUND. Maybe you can send me another link for a page that actually loads. Thanks
Alias 1aB
so I let ping optimizer set the congestion control automatically (99% download / 100% upload), and this was the results I got from a buffer bloat test. I don't know if that is going to be realistic, but it sure looks acceptable, and I can live with that.
