This is getting absurd

I did post this in a reply about a week ago in a topic:

Here is a rough change log so you can get an idea of what it includes. As you can see it's quite a beefy update, hence why it took longer than the previous ones.

  • Addition of Hybrid VPN
  • Improved SmartBOOST performance
  • Various frontend improvements
  • Fix for memory leak (sometimes manifesting as being unable to access the interface)
  • Potential fix for "frequent disconnects" issue
  • Chromecast and local transfers fixed (this is the WiFi bug where devices can't communicate with each other when they're connected to the same WiFi band e.g. 2.4/2.4GHz)
  • Fix for "No Internet Detected" bug in Setup Wizard
  • IPv6 PPPoE now works with SmartBOOST
  • Ping Optimizer reliability improvements
  • UPnP Improvements

It grows into a large beast. 🐯

This is the longest soon of my life

I'm guessing that it gets a whole lot longer before the firmware update is released and then I think it is going to be more of the same disappointment.  I have done a bit of searching and it seems that duma os is just always fraught with problems.  It seems that they move on to "newer and better" ideas without ever having delivered on the old promised ideas.  I bought this because I has nothing by problems with netgear routers with duma os on them.  I figured that maybe it was simply because I needed a net duma router with the duma os on it...... I couldn't have been more wrong.  Saving up my money and doing some research to get a router that works well.

Hi @fraser, honestly this is disappointing:

  • IPv6 PPPoE now works with SmartBOOST

Quite a few users have reported IPv6 problems with congestion control that ar not on PPPOE connections. When are those issues going to be resolved? What about the steady ping issues where it ends up excessively “bloating” your ping. I expect o more considering that it’s been three months.

First and foremost thank you for the detailed reply.  I don't have enough time in the day to sift through all the threads to find updates.

Pin this and make it a running thread that only you can update, title it "Read first latest firmware update post" sure there will still be people who don't read it but the majority of us come here every morning looking for status updates and then get frustrated, pissed off and go about resetting the router to look for updates the next day.  If you click on the links in the forum for firmware updates, let's just say there are none that are recent.

On the list above tell us what the Dev's have solved and still working on so we know where they stand.  I know for myself that if I came here this morning and saw this post that you have here at the top of the forum and see that 6/7 out of 10 are completed then I would get an idea of where things are and think to myself "getting closer" instead of "WTF are they even doing on a daily basis" which is mine and I'm sure others thoughts.  I work as a project manager and I send out weekly updates to the team on where we stand on progression if it's a major development project, daily if it's on a smaller scale.  We just want to be kept in the loop, I don't need a hard date especially if it won't be hit but definitely want to know how things are going.

Also, change the verbiage to "why it's taking longer" since it's not released as of yet.

Again, this is all just my thoughts and opinions on how to make yours and everyone else's life a little easier.

This right here! In my company if we are working with devices with known issues, the company's products we use breaks it down close to this where they will update us on fixes being found, then when every bug is fixed? We deploy to our sandbox device to test or within out department unit and let it "bake" so to speak for about a week or so. Once as it is confirmed stable on our end and the vendor, we roll the update out to all the machines and they release a vendor wide firmware fix. I bet a lot more people would be happy if this was done. Then have a period where users who are willing to sign or acknowledge this firmware may end up breaking and is in a beta phase could sign up and then be given the ability to roll back if it breaks. However, to ensure the firmwares get fixed faster and we get a stable build? Anyone who uses the beta build should be subject to a check list. Must provide logs, detail the issues experienced in a write up and then schedule time to work with the team to see if they can re-create the issue or see it is widespread. Just my 2 cents but this would get the ball rolling.

Jokes aside people have to realize it’s a small team and there isn’t a way to quickly lookup a fix on Stack Overflow, YouTube or GitHub so their manually searching for bugs and coding the fixes

Great things come to those who wait

You do realise this is the THIRD router they have released and look at how the release has gone so far for this? Doesn't look like theyve learnt any lessons from the past 2 releases.

You wouldnt go and build a house if you didnt know how to lay bricks, do the wiring, install the windows etc etc, so why are they releasing stuff like this if they dont know how to fix it?

Basically Netduma got too greedy and wanted to release before Christmas in a broken state and then fix forward which is a poor excuse. The router has been out for almost 5 months and look at all the issues still being experienced. The issues are basic functions of any router as well so nothing specialised.

In all fairness.  They KNOW that they have lied (released a product that wasn't close to as advertised) and they will feel that as it weakens their moral fiber....  I actually feel sorry for these poor humans.  When you tell a lie, big or small, its eats a human up from the inside like gangrene.  Yeah, we got cheated out of the money we spent on this and the promise of what it could do isn't there, but these poor humans get up each day and have to try to carry forward the lie each day.  The weight of that is most likely contributing to the delay.  Imagine the pressure of having a daydream and then getting some high quality youtube videos made to promote the idea as a fact and then it all snowballs and an unfinished product gets sold and more and more people start asking how they ended up being beta testers after buying what they thought was a finished product......  I'll say it one more time, you and I may be down some dinero, but these poor humans are bankrupting their own moral fiber.
