Problem with download and upload speed, poor ping.

Good afternoon, I have no idea, the dash is not updated for people, but I still have the new firmware. v4.0.21, I don’t remember, could you give me a link to the firmware that is not automatically updated. My problem is that on my old router the download speed is 250. And the upload speed is 40. But when I connect I think about it. R 3. Then I have. Download. 205. And upload. 25. How to fix this? This is disappointing. Also, my ping in conjure with the old root is 9 milliseconds to 15. with netduma r 3 I have twice as much. That is, 36, 60. in call of duty mw3

I've sent you a firmware via Private Message.

Where are you testing the speeds? The ping increase is likely due to Steady Ping on the Geo-Filter this is done on purpose to provide a smoother game but you can disable it by clicking it at the top of the map.

Do you have the beta for .23 steady ping constantly stating stabilising but never does anything warzone and mw3 multiplayer.

Also when setting priorities in smartboost is it correct or wrong to set gaming as a priority but also set call of duty as priority or like duma3 is that just opening the same ports for prior and creating issues?

Thank you Netduma Fraser very much for the link, but I already  Received. the link  from Mowment,The update was successful. Now everything is working fantastically.. I played several matches. And I have this feeling. The game has become much smoother. Previously, I had to shoot half a clip to kill someone now. It feels like 2,3 shots. And the enemy is hit. Dad, in general, the ping stabilized; in the speed test it showed 6 milliseconds.Continue in the same spirit. Well done. Looking forward to more updates, it was getting better and better and better.

I've sent you a PM with the firmware, it does have Geo-Filter improvements, including Steady Ping.

You only need to use one or the other

If you go back to my high base ping post there is an issue with ping even with steady ping disabled, base ping about 3-6 higher then other routers because the ping fluctuates more on the R3

I have the same problem, with my XR500 i have 11 ms latency on many dns, but with the R3 i lose 3 ms latency, i have 14 ms on the same dns. Is the processor form XR500 faster then the R3?

It might not even be an issue with the base ping being higher I believe it’s more so it fluctuates, if I watch the server through the ping heatmap it goes to 14-15 like my r2 consistently stayed at but the r3 just fluctuates from 14-21 a lot more with some spikes higher then that. For me anyway for others I’ve noticed the same thing depending on their original base ping like for you for example likely does the same thing but starting with 11 instead of my 14. This issue seems to be getting ignored and pushed under the rug though.

I can't even crack 100 mbps download or 150 upload on .20 or .23 firmware through gigabit internet testing wifi. Was randomly getting up to 500 ish down and up at times but 99 percent of the day it won't get me past 100 mpbs. Have turned off ipv6 on wan/lan and have cc all the way at 100 percent, also was getting same speeds all of the way down at 50 percent. Have no clue what to do to try to fix this issue. Speed test within the dashboard still won't run at all and ping optimizer also does not run at all. My asus always gives me 700-750 download and upload so it's not my internet.

No my pings are constant at 11 ms with the XR500 and no fluctuation and the same with the R3 but on the R3 i have 3 ms more then with the old XR500, the R3 never go under 14 ms it's stable 14 ms all the time but why do i have 3 ms more then with an old router with an old firmware ? Will it be better over the time with new firmware, if not i will sell my R3 and hold my XR500.

That’s not something I can answer unfortunately as my ping is higher like yours but fluctuates on top of it compared to any other router I’ve used

Sent firmware to those that have asked for it. If you're having issues please do make your own topic and I will get to you, even if it's slightly delayed everyone will be answered. It's very hard to support multiple people in one topic

Have you compared ping plotter tests? here's what I get R3 vs an old router running openwrt. Ignore the red, it's from changing over routers. As you can see there's over 20 spikes above 15ms on the R3 vs a stable 6-7ms on the old router

I have a topic under high base ping that I’ve tried everything you asked. The ping just fluctuates on this router no matter what

26 hops to google?? what country are you in? that's nuts. I only have 7 hops

I live in the us. In Kentucky. When I ping my isp I get like an 0.4-0.8ms max on any other routers but on the r3 it’s consistently going above 4ms as well.

I wonder if it's a bug related to steady ping that's applying to the entire connection instead of gaming packets only, even when it's switched off.

We can only hope it’s something like that which I would think should be able to be fixed out easily.

For those with the seemingly higher pings when using the R3 please do the following, ideally testing with PingPlotter and offering a plot from your ISP modem as a comparison:

  1. Ensure the upstream/ISP modem/router the R3 is connected to is setup with the R3 in its DMZ or in modem/bridge mode.
  2. Ensure ALL devices are connected to the R3 or at the very least that there are no devices connected/using internet on the upstream router when testing
  3. If you have multiple ethernet cables test using different cables connecting the R3 to the modem/the R3 to your device
  4. Disable IPv6 in LAN/WAN
  5. Please state if you are using PPPoE, VLAN or DHCP identifiers
  6. Use a different DNS such as 1.1.1.1 / 1.0.0.1
  7. As a test make an Internet rule to the device and allow ALL traffic then test, is there a difference? (Settings > Internet Rules)
  8. As a test put the PC in the DMZ (briefly for the test then remove), then do a test, is there a difference?
  9. Remove all prioritizations from SmartBOOST including activities/devices
  10. If the above doesn't help disable SmartBOOST entirely from the 3 dots menu top right of the page :r3menu > Settings then test
  11. Disable Steady Ping on the Geo-Filter page in case it is affecting traffic outside the Geo-Filter - also ensure no devices are added there
  12. Disable Adblocker
  13. Ensure you have your correct speeds entered in Speed Test > Advanced
  14. With SmartBOOST enabled, adjust Congestion Control in Ping Optimizer > Advanced and have it set to Always On and ensure speed test bypass is disabled
  15. Ensure you're doing this test over a wired connection - NOT WiFi
  16. Ensure in WAN/LAN Settings that the speeds of the ports are at 1Gbps
  17. Remove any port forwarding/DMZ/static routes you may have set
  18. Test at different times of the day i.e. during peak time (results may be worse) and during non peak times (should be better)

Once you've covered everything on this list please let us know the results. This should give us a good indicator of what the problem may be if it's covered in the list or whether it's something more on the backend. The team can then have a look.

I have tried everything. Also 4 other routers and the only one I have jitter on is the R3. I'm not sure whether steady ping uses netem - in my previous experience with it, it also caused a strange repetitive pattern in pingplotter (although one that looked different to the one I get with the R3) although the jitter is present with steady ping etc. all off
