R2 3.2.453 Congestion Control Auto Setup fails

Hi. So I was trying out the Auto Setup but it seems that after a certain number of tries trying to optimize the connection, the test will freeze. And similarly, I will lose all internet access on every device. Thankfully, I can still access the Router page and press Reboot to help get the internet back to all devices.

It happened about a few times on certain Auto Setup tests. But not all. So the bug is inconsistent.

Looks like this issue needs a fix.

Attached is the picture of the Auto Setup freezing but I am still able to press cancel and proceeding to click on the top right and click reboot for the router.

You will lose internet when performing the test that is normal - once finished (when it does), the internet will be restored.

Just to double check did you factory reset after the upgrade?

What web browser are you using to access and perform the tests? Is there any sort of pattern you can see as to when it happens?

I see. No I did not factory reset.

Due to the Auto Setup just jamming there, pressing cancel does not solve the issue of the internet not returning. If I try to launch Auto Setup again, it will reach that page but again, the test will not run even from 'Test 1' . So no checking of the idle ping test and especially the download and upload as well. Only way to eliminate the bug is to Reboot the router.

I am using Google Chrome.

It happened for Both Auto Setup and choosing Advanced version of Auto Setup.

I managed to do a few test that pass though. So as far as I can tell, it is really random.

OK, the first thing I'd suggest doing would be to factory reset it as it's quite a big update and a lot has changed. I suspect that'll resolve the issue for you.

My guess is it will work for him after a factory reset.. But if he tests it again later on it will likely fail and freeze... What the Op has stated is the same thing I can reproduce as well.. And I have mentioned this before.. In my case mine also freezes at about the 5th test..  But I also notice that at that time all my CPUs max out on the R2 and stay there.. A reboot or a power cycle seemed to fix it.. But likely or possibly only for a short time.. Hope this helps guys! :)

Zippy.

Sorry for the double post!

Until there is a way to save all my existing settings, the number of smart home devices have increased to the point where I just don't have the time to rename, reconfigure static IP addresses and all that. Thus, I would appreciate having that kind of feature like in the past before I can even attempt to Factory Reset which a 10 minute shut down of the router like in the previous firmwares seem to work fine with.

Apologies! But I am getting older and do not have ample time on my hands anymore unlike last time. Man... It's been so long since the original R1. What a ride.
Am still here on this journey. But just that I have to take a backseat. Haha

Other than that oddity that Zippy has helped to clarify will still exist beyond Factory Resetting, I've done my job in reporting a bug that your automation failed to detect. So far, everything has worked fine. So nothing else to report but that bug. 😁
