Hi,

Could you explain how this goes, please?

Which one is blocked/allowed? Bright red or dark red time period?

What is "reject" option referring to? The rule - reject the rule or what?

Thanks,

Jay

Response from a dev on the difference between block & reject:

  • Block means to immediately drop a packet, a client doesn't get a reply their connection should time out.
  • Reject instead does send a reply essentially saying 'I don't want this', a client program might respond with 'port is unreachable' or 'client refused connection'

So in that example the internet is blocked other than between 12-8am - it's just an example in that case.

Ok so I have a problem with the way this is working or not working, so I'm trying to limit the time someone  plays in my network so first since it was the first time I used it I was clicking for the time I didn't want him playing (dark red) but realized it was blocking on the (light red) times because on event capture it said 9am is now active meaning (blocking time) and it was blocking traffic, so I change it to (dark red) on the allowed times and (light red) for blocked times which according to event capture it worked cause now it changed to inactive but for some reason it keeps blocking all traffic on ps4, so I ps4 didn't  connect until I turn off rules all together. Please help or explain. I don't want him to play from 12am to 10am. Below there's pics of how I have it now which is (light red) for blocked times, when I did it first it was (dark red) for the same times.

I am having the very same issue and could never get this work properly so I am manually blocking my sons playstation too.

Please find a fix for this because it is not working as it should.

What router/firmware version are you seeing this on?

Hi,

I never got it to work either so kinda forgot and let it be. Would be really nice though if it worked as supposed. :)
Running R1 3.0.171 also.

Jay

Thanks for letting us know, we'll take a look!

Yes, traffic controller is currently available for the XR500 on DumaOS 3.0 :)

but I don't see the traffic controller 🤔🤔

... where am I supposed to find it?

Maybe I did something wrong.

Ah - That's not actually DumaOS 3.0. You can find the beta firmware including Traffic Controller here: https://community.netgear.com/t5/Nighthawk-Pro-Gaming-DumaOS-3-0/New-Firmware-v2-3-2-120-XR500/m-p/2071196#M4264
