D3mon1c
But what ports can I forward on my gateway for my Duma OS router cause apparently I'm having a security risk currently with my OS cause I have it in DMZ mode for it & I've never had this problem before till now
Administrators Netduma Alex Posted January 15, 2020 Administrators Share Posted January 15, 2020 In my view, the only security risk is having DMZ going all the way to a computer. Routers have built in protection against port scanning and such, so having DMZ going to a router specifically shouldn't be a problem.
D3mon1c
I don't really know for sure but all I know is on my xfinity app its complaining that my duma is a security risk & keeps saying stuff like "Don't worry, your network is secure. However, we did block 96 threats on this device this past week that will require further action" & in one of those actions it mentioned something about turning off DMZ as an option so im basically here asking if there is any specific ports I can forward on my gateway for my duma
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 15, 2020 Administrators Share Posted January 15, 2020 As Alex said the R1 has a firewall and it doesn't have the DMZ on it so it can't be detecting that as a potential issue, it's likely just analysing the modem and thinking you've put a device (not a router) into the DMZ which would be a security issue. Does it say specifically which ports it's identifying as an issue? That also doesn't make sense, if the network is secure then there doesn't need to be further action. I don't think this is something to worry about but also hard to say ports without knowing what it's classifying as an issue.
D3monic
It doesn't say which ports is a security issue its talking as if the modem is one & its weird cause this never happened before till just recently & I don't recall making any changes for my network on my gateway or modem so my mind is pretty much blown on this one but yeah im basically tryna find out if there is possibly specific ports I can forward for my Duma to still work or is DMZ the only option
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 16, 2020 Administrators Share Posted January 16, 2020 I don't think it is anything to worry about to be honest, however if you still want to pursue that it will work without the DMZ but you will have a double NAT. D3monic
But there's no specific ports I can forward on my gateway for it at all?
Bert
If you forward ports 1-65535 for both UDP and TCP it should work. Essentially this is the same thing as putting it in DMZ. I would not worry about it though as it's likely just the app going off because it sees something in DMZ like Fraser says.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 16, 2020 Administrators Share Posted January 16, 2020 As port forwarding those ports is essentially the same as the DMZ it will likely flag that as well.
