VPN with PIA "failed"

Recommended Posts

I use privateinternetaccess as my vpn of choice. When i enter the advanced portion of hybridVPN i enter my PIA username/password then paste in the contents of the .ovpn file PIA generates for me but it doesnt connect, i just get a list that says n/a with failed at the bottom. Any ideas?

Could you copy and paste the VPN log file into a post on here please (after this failure has happened)

I would also recommend trying a different .ovpn file if you can.

This is the open config that I use and it works fine for me so copy and paste this and give it a try and let us know if it works for you. I am in the UK and use the New York server but I can change the addresses if I want to connect to a different location.

Thanks for helping. Downloaded, chose UK southampton. Same result, "failed" with a blank log. :(

I saw that you have n00b friendly setups for HMA and pure so i signed up for 1 month of HMA and if i just enter user/pass and location in basic screen i get "no config files matching basic settings found" in log. If i use advanced and use a generated ovpn from HMA i get "failed" and a blank log.

is it worth reflashing/factory reset?

Heres the ovpn file im using

client
dev tun
proto udp

nobind

persist-tun

Could you instead try by downloading this: https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/openvpn/openvpn.zip selecting the one you want and inputting the contents of the file please then connect

Yes you can try a reflash/factory reset but its very odd behaviour. Try that and see if it works after, if not please take a screenshot of the basic settings once you've put the info in/selected everything, as well as a general screenshot of the VPN page please

After a factory reset i am still having zero luck with PIA so have given it up as a waste of time. However, hidemyass worked fine using advanced settings and i can now set my preferred devices behind the firewall no problem. Thanks for the help.

now to work out how to add kodi as a service so all that traffic goes thru VPN ;)

I'm afraid I've no idea how to add kodi without researching it, but I'm glad hidemyass is working out for you :)

Hey do you mind sharing what script you are using with HMA?  I am trying to get mine up and running and it's a no go with Basic/ Advanced,  I am just using the default scripts for my particular server of choice.  Should there be any changes to the scripts to get it to work?

I keep getting AUTH failed...., process exiting

TIA

HMA basic should definitely be working, if you're getting auth failed then it's most likely that the user/password has been put in incorrectly
