Setting up client VPN on XR500

Recommended Posts

At the moment it is only set to use H.M.A but as you I would like to use P.I.A which I also have but now can only use on my PC. Hopefully this will change in a future update and I am sure 1 of the netduma team will comment on your post in due course!

As Big Dog mentioned it's just supporting Hide My Ass at the moment. In future we'll be implementing our own VPN solution.

Here is a guide as well on how to set it up if you wish to use it with HMA: https://kb.netgear.com/000053077/What-is-a-gaming-VPN-and-how-do-I-set-it-up-on-my-XR500-Nighthawk-gaming-router

I don't understand why where is still such limited VPN options for this router. It's very disappointing. Is there any news on this front?

Thank you

What router are you using currently? If the XR500 - limited in what way?

Hide my ass or pure vpn have better setup capabilities with the "basic" function. I have never heard of either of these vpns outside of this router.  I have used,  and an not satisfied with the advanced option of pasting a openvpn script. My experience has been poor as it is not reliable and drops the connection frequently.

I assume a supported vpn would be more stable. I also assumed there would be more options than the previous two mentioned.

I wonder if others share this experience or just me.

I have a xr450. I stopped being excited about 3.0 over a year ago... I know you guys work hard. But ill believe it when I see it

The idea with implementing Open VPN support is that you can use any VPN with DumaOS, but I understand it's not as simple as the basic configuration.

We are currently working on some big improvements to Hybrid VPN which should make a big difference to compatibility, though unfortunately I don't yet have an ETA for when this will be available.
