VDSL100 netduma freezes

Recommended Posts

My netduma (latest firmware) was working fine for two years.

It's behind a telekom router.

I changed my internet connection from DSL16 to VDSL100, the rouzter is still the same.

Since that, my netduma freezes randomly whlie playing online with my xbox so that I have to unplug it from power to restart.

Settings:

Host control off.

Bandwith set to 100/40.

UPNP activated.

Everything else is deactivated, even wifi.

I tried turbo mode and super turbo mode without success.

i had an issue with my netduma recently so I decided to reinstall the latest update so you could do that........................have you also tried a factory reset?.....the best method is to use the pinhole at rear of R1 and keep it pressed for about 10 seconds then release!     The reset method should be done 1st though.

The reset button doesn't work on my netduma.

I did the software reset twice.

Afterwards the netduma did freeze again while playing pubg on xbox.

My configuration:

Telekom Speedport Smart - Netduma - Consoles

                                                - WLAN

                                                - IPTV

The only thing that has changed is DSL 16 to VDSL 100 (Vectoring, 94 down, 38 up, ping is between 7 and 10).

This could well be a browser compatibility issue - could you try Chrome on different devices? If you're not using the UI on a PC or a Laptop then I'd recommend doing so. Also make sure your on the Default Netduma theme :)

There is no browser in use while this happens.

If I use a browser it's chrome.

Always standard theme in use.

Today there was no freeze but the day hasn't ended so far.

if no browser was in use, could you further describe the issue? I was assuming by 'freeze' you meant the user interface crashing or becoming unresponsive, but if you're not on the interface using a browser then I'm not sure what you mean by it. Do you mean the Internet drops out?

I mean with freeze that no connection is going through the netduma. Devices loose their internet connection. Then the netduma can't be accessed by a browser (no response). When I unplug power the netduma starts and everything works.

The freezes happen about two times a day.

It happened always while playing pubg on xbox. Can a game cause this issue?

That sounds like it could easily be caused by a faulty Ethernet cable or port (from the Modem to the Netduma). If the Ethernet disconnected between the Modem and Netduma for any reason, everything you have described so far would happen. Try replacing that cable and try different ports.

Does this freeze happen on wired devices and wireless, or just one of those? If you're on a wired PC, does it happen there?

Is your Telekom router in access point mode? Have you disabled Wi-Fi on the Netduma if it is?

Router is configured as access point.

Netduma Wifi is disabled.

The freeze does happen to the netduma and disconnects any device connected to the netduma.

I changed the cables today.

There are some posts in internet thatpubg causes router crashes in the usa.

Could it crash the  etduma with too many requests?

Maybe I found another reason. My Xbox und pubg uses port 80. My telekom router blocks some suspicious (to be prevent a bot net) requests from port 80 .

I turned that off now.

Ah right, that sounds like the culprit! Thanks for providing that info. It definitely looks like you've got everything set up correctly so I'm hopeful that you've just found the cause.

Please let us know if the issue happens again!

No more freezes / crashes so far.

Seems to have been the port 80 protection of the telekom router. The only thing I don't understand is why it only happened since I had the fast connection.

Great to hear that, probably some changes upstream that they applied
