slugg
Is there a guide for this? Haven't purchased Netduma yet but debating it. I'm pretty proficient in networking but trying to get my head around the best way to go about running the Netduma in tandem with the Pace. It would mainly be for my gaming pc, new and old gen consoles. I may or may not use the wireless but I would still need wireless upstairs. My old router (Netgear wndr3700) can still be used to. My thinking is DMZ the pace (is the firewall in the Netduma adequate enough), run the WNDR3700 as an access point upstairs (wired into the Pace, it's only 300mbps but plenty for what's going on upstairs), and the Netduma would be wired right off the Pace at my desk/command center/gaming station. I may still need wireless downstairs so I guess I could run the WNDR3700 on 5GHz and the Netdumas 2.4GHz. Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance! NetriX
Hi, I have mine setup with a static ip using lan route. Manually assigned Netduma the IP of 192.168.1.3 from my Asus Gigabit router. So Lan >> Route Network/Host IP - 192.168.88.0 Netmask - 255.255.255.0 Gateway - 192.168.1.3 Metric - 1 Interface - LAN I can access Netduma control panel by navigating to 192.168.88.1 or 192.168.1.4 Make sure that you have Miscellaneous Settings >> Access control panel from WAN(not recommend) >> Checked
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted March 11, 2017 Administrators Share Posted March 11, 2017 Hey, welcome to the forum! You could do that if you wish, though you wouldn't benefit from congestion control with that setup. What are your internet speeds? You mentioned 300mbps so if thats the case congestion control may have to be disabled anyway to reach those speeds so it wouldn't be an issue. The firewall on the Duma will be safe. slugg
It's gigabit internet. The at&t provided router will basically be passed through why would I lose any features on the netduma? Also as stated I'm looking for suggestions on the set up. What I said was just my thoughts on it off the top of my head.To sum it up I have to use the at&t provided modem as it is a fiber connection but it can be passed through to use another router. So what I'm looking for is the netduma with my pc and consoles hooked to it. It will be hooked to the at&t provided modem/router.
Alex49H
http://forum.netduma.com/topic/19408-can-the-netduma-r1-connect-with-the-att-u-verse-residential-gateway-router/?fromsearch=1 Read my post in this link. I have the same modem and this is how I set it up with the Duma.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted March 12, 2017 Administrators Share Posted March 12, 2017 In order to access your higher speeds congestion control has to be turned off. Follow the above link given and let us know how you get on.
slugg
Thanks for the replies. I still have to buy the Netduma first which should be in the next few weeks.

slugg
Ok I actually got it yesterday. watched the tut and tweeked on it some following Alex's guide. I guess I'll need some help. Pretty savvy with networking but as some of this is new ground for me I want to make sure it's right. With what I did just from Alex's guide so far I don't think everything is right. First thing I notice is my home is showing in the Pacific Northwest when I actually live in the South. Central Alabama to be exact. I did move it to the correct location. Anyway what is the best way to proceed to get help? Thanks!
Alex49H
So what did you tweek in the Pace or what wasn't right from the guide? That way I can make changes too. When you say you moved your home location to where you are you mean in the Geo Filter? If so, that is right.

When you say you moved your home location to where you are you mean in the Geo Filter? If so, that is right. Yeah in the Geo filter. I must have done a step wrong somewhere because I'm really not getting any icons in the filter map. The first step of allowing it to get ip via dhcp i should just enable wan ip or is that wrong. I know I've done something wrong as a lot of web sites won't load and error out. If I factory reset the netduma they work if I havent messed with any settings yet. Edit: I think I may have fudged it by not selecting xbox live for pc-cod under devices for geo filter. Seems to be doing more now. Also Upnp doesn't seem to be triggering ports for black ops 3??? All that matters is that you're getting better games. What ping do you get to the host now that you're using the Geo-filter?

What ping do you get to the host now that you're using the Geo-filter? I do have open NAT but because I forwarded manually. Ping is better (dedicated servers, I never been put in a p2p hosted match that I recall, some dedicated servers i have 10 or 12 ping even as far as New York which is a good ways away but mainly in the 20s ) as Geo filter is keeping me where I want to be. Sadly no solution for South American players who join North American servers and get a buff for having high ping. Game needs a region lock bad! That's great; having a ping of around 20ms is fantastic for gaming. Unfortunately it's impossible to stop players from joining the game from far away, that's down to the game company to decide which regions can join certain servers. They shouldn't feel like they have a 'buff' for their bad ping though; lag compensation can work both ways, and could drastically throw either your aim or their aim off depending on how it plays out. It sounds like your issues are resolved though. Feel free to open another thread if you have any more problems.
slugg
Why would I see some players on geo filter map but not others? I typically get like 5 or 6 icons for players in a 12 person cod game.

It's possible that they are connected to the dedicated server within your radius but they're outside your radius or the router is just not able to ping them. You won't necessarily see all the players appear on the map in a dedicated server game.

slugg
Ok so alex49h helped me get sorted out on some issues so props to him and all of you as well. I have another question. As originally stated I'll be running a Netgear wndr3700 as an access point to everything not in my command center (which consists of my gaming pc, xbox 360 and one, ps3 and ps4 ect). "everything not in my command center" being cell phones, tablets, other pcs in the house including desktops and laptops, streaming blu-ray players, etc. Anyway Can I expect any issues with the congestion control to access point to throttle of the aforementioned devices? I have a feeling that feature alone is going to keep my packets at the forefront. Thanks again for all the input!
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted April 6, 2017 Administrators Share Posted April 6, 2017 Great to hear that! If your Netgear is connected to the Netduma and in AP mode then the Netduma congestion control will still work - you'll see all the devices connected to the Netgear on the Netduma. Alex49H
Exactly what Fraser said Slugg. Connect the Netgear to the Duma and put the Netgear into AP mode. Hope your baby is feeling better too.
