Eversoris
Apologies ahead of time if this is too much information. Just trying to provide as much as possible to get my problem solved.I've had the Netduma R1 for roughly six months. Up until this point, it has worked flawlessly. So well that I recommended the router to 3 friends, that have since purchased the Netduma.Unfortunately, two days ago, I began experiencing slow Internet speeds. The Internet speed I'm supposed to be getting is 180mbps download and 25mbps upload. My ping is consistent at 15.The test results I got were 88mbps down, 13mbps up and a ping of 93. I rebooted the R1 to no avail. Same results. Next, I did a full factory reset, setting up the R1 with my settings (adjusting bandwidth speeds, etc.) and it seemed as if things got worse. Internet speeds have been everywhere from 35/5 to 120/15.Speed tests on my PS4 are virtually unusable. 3 down/6up. 20down/900kbps up. I've been disconnected from PS4 parties because the speed is so slow/bad. I understand that PS4 speed tests are inaccurate but when I'm getting disconnected from party chats and have a red bar in game, I know there's some truth to the PS4 tests.I adjusted several settings that I will list below, and my Internet speeds are still not where they should be.I unplugged the R1 and everything connected to it. I plugged my PC and PS4 into the modem (which is a combination modem/router). Took the modem out of Bridge Mode and tested speeds using my ISP's modem. Speeds are where they should be. PC speeds: 179/24. PS4 speeds: 150/12.It goes without saying I'd much rather use the Netduma R1 over my ISP's modem/router combination. I love the features the R1 has and swear by it. But, obviously, right now I am forced to not use the R1 until I can get this issue resolved. Which I'm hopeful you will be able to help me with.Information/The troubleshooting I have done with the R1:All connections are Wired. All Ethernet cables are cat6 and above.Current firmware version 1.03.6h (It says my firmware is up to date).Congestion Control is set to 100% for both down and upload. Using Reactive algorithmAdjusted Internet bandwidth (set to 180/25) and even went further with 200/50.In "Miscellaneous Settings" only "Allow Auto Feedback", "Allow Remote Access to Netduma" and "Turbo Mode" are enabled. Everything else is disabled.IPv6 is disabled in LAN, WAN and Settings - Misc.Automatic DNS is enabled in LANUPnP is enabled.Currently, nothing is Port Forwarded. (Before these issues my PS4 was Port Forwarded)Nothing is in "Hyper-Traffic"Up until this point, I had not changed any settings since my initial setup. The only thing I've done in the last six months is reboot the router. And when it comes to my modem, I haven't changed any settings since installing the R1. So, I'm pretty confused why this is happening all of a sudden. Unsure if it's a handshake issue or something I need to change/update within the R1.If any more info is needed, feel free to ask. Thanks for reading and for your time!
iAmMoDBoX
Apologies ahead of time if this is too much information. Just trying to provide as much as possible to get my problem solved. You try changing ethernet cables? Could be a bad cable between your modem and the R1 or the R1 and a device you're using to test.
slashformayor
I assume you are on VM? Maybe the router has updated and lost it's settings? Is the R1 still in the modems DMZ?
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 15, 2016 Administrators Share Posted December 15, 2016 Hey, welcome to the forum & thanks for recommending us! Just double check everything from this list: Reactive Algorithm 100% anti-flood Share excess enabled Reset device prioritisation & apply Disable IPv6 in WAN, LAN & misc Disable deep packet in misc Enable turbo mode Ensure the ethernet cables you're using connecting the R1 to hub & R1 to PC are Cat5e+/can handle your speeds. Eversoris
You try changing ethernet cables? Could be a bad cable between your modem and the R1 or the R1 and a device you're using to test. Yeah, I checked the ethernet cables and then switched them out. I even hooked them up individually and tested to see if that could have been it. All of my cables are cat6 and above. I assume you are on VM? Maybe the router has updated and lost it's settings? Is the R1 still in the modems DMZ? No VM. Unfortunately, I can't put the router in the modem's DMZ. The DMZ mode of the modem is disabled when you enter Bridge Mode. When using the modem out of Bridge Mode, the only section you can edit is the last number of the address you wish to put in DMZ. ISP modems don't give you a lot of freedom, sadly. Hey, welcome to the forum & thanks for recommending us! Do a wired speed test from a PC No problem! After having many routers over the years, the R1 is by far the best I've used. I had to recommend it. Yep, everything on the list is as it should be. Speed test on PC (and wired connection): Download 59mbps, Upload 11mbps with a Ping of
ColonicBoom
If you have the settings as Fraser suggested and are still not getting the speeds you expect, run a speed test direct from your modem or ISP hub over ethernet. If that speed test is still lower than you think it should be then you will need to speak to your ISP. If it's different (much faster) then you will need to screenshot your Netduma settings so that we can have a look. Provide screenshots of Congestion Control, Miscellaneous Settings first please. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 15, 2016 Administrators Share Posted December 15, 2016 Okay strange, if you enable super turbo mode do you get the full speeds?
Eversoris
Sorry for the delay in replying. There was an Internet outage last night in my area (go figure!).Since all of my settings are what they should be, and since there was an outage last night, I'm going to see today and tonight how speeds are and if there's still an issue, I'll contact my ISP and have them come to the house.Admittedly, it's strange that things work ok when I'm using the ISP modem/router. But clearly, there's something going on.If needed, feel free to close this thread and if I have any further issues after checking with my ISP, I'll create a new one. Many thanks for the quick replies and the troubleshooting ideas! Yowie
I have been having this exact same problem. The duma was working fine up until the last week or so. I thought maybe it was some setting that got changed by accident, so i did a complete factory reset and set it up again. Still the same results, slow internet. Using the exact cable, i can connect the PC to the duma and do a speed test (to a reliable server) and then hook the PC directly to the cable modem and I get the correct speeds. I've had trouble with my ISP speeds in the past, so I thought it was just them. It's not, same cable hooked to one and then the other, a night and day difference. I've set it to super turbo mode and still the same results. Is there anything else left to try?
Netduma Staff Netduma Jack Posted December 20, 2016 Netduma Staff Share Posted December 20, 2016 BlackXantus, Just double check that you've got this set-up: - If less than 60mbps, Pre-emptive Algorithm. If more, Reactive Algorithm - 100% anti-flood - Share excess enabled - Reset device prioritisation & apply - Disable IPv6 in WAN, LAN & misc (Unless you know that you are on IPv6) - Disable deep packet in misc - Enable turbo mode if over 120mbps - Enable super turbo mode if over 300mbps - Ensure the ethernet cables you're using connecting the R1 to hub & R1 to PC are Cat5e+/can handle your speeds. - Do a wired speed test from a PC

I can swap out my Duma for my Asus and instantly get the correct speeds. It's so strange. Is there anything else to try? It was working so well for the longest time, nothing changed in my setup. Just noticed that the speeds were very low and started investigating.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 26, 2016 Administrators Share Posted December 26, 2016 Make a post in the 1 on 1 section as there is no way you shouldn't get full speeds with those settings.
