Just purchased a Samsung 850 Evo 500GB everything is now blazing fast wow :o i was meaning to do this ages ago and finally did it. PS4 seems a bit more cooler now i must say the fun part now is installing all the games again but it's worth it. have a 250gb in my pc and it's been going strong in love already

I have the same Samsung as you she is a lot faster than the stock one but my recommmendation is a 1Tb Hybrid( it is cheaper, you have more space and you gain more sec as you more often use the same application) one because it is very expensive and the PS4 can not supply the full potential of an Ssd( Bottleneck). For me-/your setup= thump up!

That is awesome. Is it easy to change even for a noob like me?

Very Easy i must of watched every YouTube video known to man before tinkering around :lol: here's a video that explains how to do it very simple even a child could do it lol;

That's true but since i tested it out the menu is so fast blink you will miss it  but i understand 1tb hybrid would be ideal but as i have the same ssd in my gaming pc but it's only 250gb for OS it's amazing had to do the same for my ps4 :)

Tempted to go for a 1tb getting dangerously close to my 5gb stock drive is there much difference between say the evo 850 or a seagate 1tb 2.5 drive seems to be a big price difference between the two?

Big difference if the seagate is a SSHD then it will be on par with the SSD if not then SSD is the way forward.

Yeah i replaced my ps4 Hard drive to a SSHD and its was good but then I thought why not upgrade to a 1tb SSD. So I have had my new SSD in for around 2-3 months now and omg the performance is crazy.

Been testing it all day ive had no issues of stutter on blops 3 with the SSD it's been incredible so the stock HDD was the problem :)

Cheers,  just been reading the pro's and con's between ssd and sshd i'm gonna go with the sshd as i just really want more space on budget prolly could had gone with the 7200 but sshd seems to be a little quicker than the 7200 would liked the evo ssd but nearly 300 notes for the 1tb.

Lots of tests been done for cod. Saying there is no difference as maps don't really load when online. I could see for maybe a game where constant loading from drive like single player. Ur in game what 1 to 5 second quicker on cod? Or u trying to say frame rate drops are from the HDD?

Seems like its from the HDD as me and zen are talking about it and that PS4 is using Virtual Ram off the HDD here's what a Reddit User said and i quote

"It gets worse as you install patches, as usually between patches you're likely to have installed other things on your system.

DISCLAIMER - this is all my own anecdotal evidence based on testing I did with multiple re-installs and HDD formats.

Basically, because of the time inbetween patches, each black market update and map pack is putting data files and textures on different places on your hard drive, which makes loading slow since it has to seek all over the place. This is an inherent problem with mechanical hard disks.

Blops 3 constantly loads in textures based on proximity (and drops old ones as you get farther away), so the more people with random black market shit on a more "complicated" map...the longer stuff loads...because it's constantly trying to load all of those textures from a map pack in one spot on your HDD, a few new gun models somewhere else, reticles, camos, etc.

Go play verge on ground war and it should be noticeable.

Other games do this too, if you pay attention over a DLC cycle. But it's heavily dependent on how the game handles streaming of assets, and how frequent it happens. Black ops seems to do it ALOT. Even a fresh install constantly tries to load higher quality textures. If you move and come back somewhere and stand still, you can usually still notice it reloading the "best" version of textures it loaded earlier.

Unfortunately, it gets worse and worse as time goes on.

If you want to fix it, format your HDD, install blops 3 first, then sequentially install the latest patch followed by the DLCs

Sucks, but nothing's gonna change about it probably. Already shared my thoughts with dan Olson on twitter and he was like yep...not much can fix it.

If anyone has an SSD, is this an issue?"

Never use a 7200 one heard rumors of dead PS4's as the drive causes more heat spinning up that fast.

From tests I've seen the hybrid ssd. Best for performance but if u only play cod, don't see point. Hard to believe frames is HDD based. Ppl blame dlc or blame hdd. Frames didn't go sporadic when game came out.... Idk don't see it as a worthy investment in my eyes unless someone can prove ssd or hybrid fixes those issues in bo3. Seems patches affect it more. U can't do much of anything on ps4 without paying. Rather mod my shit elsewhere... Maybe someday might dive in or it just to see. So far netduma made most difference in online bo3... I don't play any other game. As interest is lost quickly it seems anymore.

Even in today's pc gaming world people recommend gaming on a SSD compared to a HDD since the upgrade i have had no missing textures and stutters have gone not lag but stutters when you load a weapon you get a quick stutter then runs ok now and then i had stutters with the stock HDD but a SSD as completely cured it. :) Plus your right on that part the more they patch blops 3 the worse it's going to get and there nothing we can do about it. :(

Maybe if I ever see an amazing deal on 500 gig ssd.

Ofc in my desktop. Top of line ssd, ram, cpu, GPu. Night n day but I also. Understand bottle neck. Ps4 too. Much bottle neck and also sata not even true 6gb I read true not. Who knows. Maybe one day. Might spend money on it..... Jus don't see putting anymore money into ps4 itself. Every few months ps4 controller breaks or joy sticks stop working. Bought more controllers. For PS4 than system probably worth anymore. Had 2 on ps3. Never broke. . On 5th for PS4. Junk

That is a known fact the ps3 controllers lasted a lot longer then the ps4 one's the amount of money spent on controllers could of gone towards a ssd/sshd or new games but 500gb was £135 not the cheapest but once its there you forget about it. I still think it was worth the money in my eyes. But as you say it's not worth it since the console is cheap but sata 2 ports you do get some performance increase by just adding a better drive. But in the long run it's how much you really love your ps4 and keeping it maintained for the long run :)

This is an old link and test results.  Based upon these results I upgraded my HDD with a hybrid.  I noticed a difference.

I would be curious to see these testing redone for new SDDs and latest PS4 software.
