Sal
Hey all recently there has been a growing trend in running tests for buffer bloating, from my basic understanding (please correct me if im wrong) that the lower your speed the less you are likely to suffer from your router being bottle necked. How ever from my experience this is not entirely the case as when i reduce either upload or download sliders to anything bellow 70% i get really bad results for buffer bloating another strange event that takes place is the upload speed obtained once i reduce any of the sliders below 70% even if i do not touch the upload slider but reduce the download slider my upload speed is heavily affected drastically i will provide some examples below to show exactly what is going on. Reactive algorithm 1) CC values 70% down load / 70% upload 2) CC values 60% download / 60% upload - Notice how the upload value has been reduced so much 3) CC values 80% down load / 80% upload In fact its so fine tuned that values of 69% and 71% causes a difference of great and horrible results. 4) CC values download 40% Upload 100% - Just to show how upload is being affected by the download slider. 5) CC values download 70% and upload 100% Now ill show you what happens with the pre-empive algorithm 6) CC values download 100% upload 100% 7) CC values download 95% upload 95% [notice the huge drop off of upload speed at 5% lower] 8) CC values download 80% upload 80% [after this point there seems to be no accuracy in terms of upload speed as 80% gave a greater upload speed than 95%] 9) CC values 50% download 50% upload [just to back up my point from the previous result] So overall i must say that my experience hasn't good since January considering how amazing it was prior to the new year, but especially since March its taken a turn for much much worse my experience in cod has been awful with the common culprits being killed behind corners, instantly dying without any chance to react and i get hit markets even after i stop firing or killing an enemy... Most annoying thing is i die without even getting a red screen but on the kill cam im stood there looking like a deer in headlights on the enemies screen lol .... I can provide video footage of these insta deaths if anyone wants to see what my experience is like please let me know anyway sorry for the long post i hope someone is able to provide a solution because its driving me insane.. Thnx in advanced!
fuzzy clam
Just out of curiosity what are your other settings...IPv6 in LAN,WAN and misc, turbo, super turbo.UPNP etc. And is your console in hyper traffic when your running the test. And maybe reboot your router from misc, not a factory reset just a reboot.
RedBull2k
yes i have have posted about this also. The PPPoE on the netduma is not the best for Congestion Control atleast for me. take a look at my signature to see what i did.
Netduma Staff Netduma Jack Posted July 15, 2016 Netduma Staff Share Posted July 15, 2016 What internet speeds does your ISP give you? We could recommend the best settings for you, but ultimately we always recommend having the sliders on 70/70 for gaming. These results seem quite strange, but we can't support you further without knowing your settings.
Sal
Hey all thnx for the replies 1) My ISP provides 80 down and 20 up 2) UPNP is enabled 3) hyperlans ie enabled for my console (these results were done using my laptop) 4) IPV6 is enabled however ive re rerun the tests un ticking and it got similar results 5) misc settings which are ticked include : Auto feed back : remote access : UPNP prt forward : link local ipv6 : enable cookies : turbo mode : enable cloud settings : bleeding edge Ive rebooted that didnt help, in terms of using super turbo what disables CC which causes line congestion resulting in results which are not ideal. Everything is fine as long as i dont take the CC sliders below 70% which is really odd or 100% on pre emptive which is equally baffling. i hope ive answered the questions thnx again! Sal
UPDATE: I've since spoken to my ISP and they told me there was an issue i was told im getting ping spikes of about 54 - 300 very frequently which explains my experience online, going by my set up he said you are probably suffering from a double NAT issue which is known for a variety of issues including packet loss and ping spikes this may also be the reason why i was getting a message on my psn about packet fragmentation since the first time i bought the DUMA. Ive mentioned this in the past but people said it was down to psn and an update would fix it. However my biggest fear has materialised i was told sky router does not support a bridge mode or a mode which enables me to turn off NAT but he was going to speak to a higher tech member and get back to me on Monday with a solution which he reckons will be remove the third party router (the DUMA) .... I must add that since playing without the DUMA my gaming last night felt really good, best since January which goes to show there is an issue thats obvious but i love the control i have with the DUMA and i dont want to get rid of it if anyone here can provide me a solution id really appreciate it thank you. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted July 17, 2016 Administrators Share Posted July 17, 2016 Do you get those ping spikes without the duma? In which case removing the duma wouldn't have an effect on this.

In which case removing the duma wouldn't have an effect on this. no without the DUMA its all fine but i have no way of controlling the bandwidth so i have no issues without DUMA sky suggesting im having double nat issues and i should turn the nat off on the third party router but this isnt an option with the DUMA so im stuck. A7Legit
Double NAT shouldn't give you spikes of up to 300ms...
Sal
Double NAT shouldn't give you spikes of up to 300ms... idk, im going by what sky tell me, ive had a sky rep get back to me he advised me to remove the duma and let him run tests using the sky router he said all seems fine so he fell back onto his comfort zone and said i suggest you use the sky hub and nothing else which is annoying i bought the duma so obviously want to make use of it
